Amazing, the episode was two minutes long this time. One day we'll get a full three-minute showing.

No lovely townscape this episode. Without the beautiful bg art there isn't much you can do with the runtime.

I still don't get why the hell this is only 2-3 minutes. Really doesn't work for me in this format (and a 1 minute opening credits on such a short show makes it worse). Maybe I ought to just stop and marathon it later. I guess that will give me a single 24 minute show.

He'll be fine.

Saving this, most likely will be using it in due time.

Nice little flashback about Hibachi. Jinbei is quite the oddity to me because usually I would hate his type of character. But just like in the manga, I'm starting to really like him and I think the anime is doing a good job so far of portraying him.

I do wish he used a different weapon besides the sword though.

Because it perpetuates the stereotype that all homosexual people are always on the alert to take advantage of those innocent enough to spend time with them.

There are much better ways of making this point that fixating on a gag series published in a magazine that has an active lesbian readership.

I'd like to take this moment to remind everyone that our dear SDBurton, with all the purported might of his yuri goggles, wasn't able to handle YamiHat and that show literally had the ultimate form of yuri:
incest yuriception
.

Taking that into account, whatever amount of vanilla :sdburton that can be gleaned from K-On should be safe enough for him.

Here's hoping there will be more Ritsu x Mio moments in the future. Hype!

Long overdue but glad I finally gathered the motivation to complete this show. The OP theme is infectious as ever and I can't help but hum along with it as it plays.

Yui is so awesome, the harmonica fib had me rolling. Don't have much else to say at the moment as I want to continue watching. Solid first episode!

I think the streaming rights might be separate to the retail distribution rights, given that Bleach and Naruto on on CR but Madman puts those out. More to the point though, Toradora is licenced to Hanabee out here but CR still 'casts Kids on the Slope and Bodacious Space Pirate, which are also Hanabee licences.

Humanity has Declined 10

Good concept and premise but it felt quite a bit too long. Earlier episodes really felt stronger and more intriguing. Though the origin story of the first meeting was somewhat entertaining.

Really? Huh. I guess Nichijou makes sense, since Madman has the rights to it there. Wonder why Toradora! isn't there, though.
Just checked, Toradora is US/Canada only on Crunchyroll (by virtue of being published for streaming through NISA), plus everything beyond the first 6 episodes is premium subscribers only.
The web of international licensing agreements is too complex for me to sort out right now though.

Hello Ocean? I think I've lost it (it's the last time, I swear)

Back to the formula of the first season, a much needed return. The relationship between Hei and Yin is heartwarmingly sweet for a show of this nature, and I wish they had done a little more with it in the first season. I'm looking forward to whatever's going to happen in these OVAs that lead to the fucked plot of S2.

Which is frustrating given madman does not have a proper streaming service. You'd think they would be willing to sublicense their streaming rights back to say crunchy to make some money if they are unwlling to run such a service themselves.

All this does is encourage piracy/vpn/dns proxying type things.

[Aim For The Top! Gunbuster] 2 (Rewatch)
Another great episode. It starts as yet more shoujo ham (but with robots!), and becomes something more thought-provoking during the second half with the introduction of relativistic theory and some technobabble made believable through extensive use of detail. Not that the science doesn't have its flaws:
shouldn't Noriko's machine and the Luxion have exploded into smithereens the moment she grasped the hull? Even a small particle traveling at near light speed velocities should be devastating upon contact.

Of course, one can forgive the artistic/scientific licence for the sake of drama. This is the moment when Gunbuster becomes Gunbuster to me, contrary to people's opinions that the show only really begins until episode four. Here we have the introduction of the core themes of the show, mainly
soldier isolation from the world they fight for, exemplified to me more strongly by the implications of Noriko's dad inability to see her daughter more than a year.
It will be reinstated again once Sumisu enters the scene, but I think the more subdued approach in this episode works better.

P.S. GAINAX with that simultaneous butt and boob fanservice (NSFW). These guys are fucking geniuses. And while we are on the bath scene, this also gives us our first hint at the
romantic drama
that will be revealed in episode five's climax.

Well I suppose this could be worse, I kinda wish I could just be magically teleported to the 'good' stuff.

Yeah, maybe I'll talk to someone about that

So, yeah, we're getting an Haikyuu!! anime.

Not a surprise but HYPE
Won't start until next year I guess.

After watching Kuroko, I am hyped for more Shounen Jump sports adaptations.

Oh my god this is actually happening and not a joke.

They are making a Daily Lives of High School Boys live-action movie.

Will watch so hard.

A few :sdburton moments that tried their best to make me jump ship from my current pickings, but I held strong!

Really loving their commitment to one another, going so far as
taking part time jobs so they can scrounge up the cash to help Yui get her beloved guitar.

What a coincidence ! i'm 80 % close to drop this show

Episode 2 was better than episode 1 but not good enough for me.
I still plan to follow the 3 eps rule because i feel that it only needs a spark for it to entertain me , but i feel the general concept is already there and i don't like it.

The jokes are hit or miss and the sillyness is not random enough for it to be enjoyable enough.

At this rate it's gonna be dropped. Let me hope Ep 3 will introduce something intresting on the table.

Yeah, maybe I'll talk to someone about that

Certainly from the outside there seems to be options.

1. Though I'd hate it due to price and stream quality, there's the local streaming company Quickflix. I'm kind of surprised they haven't made deals with madman, hanabee, etc to provide streams of anime to their subscribers.

2. Sublicense rights back to people like crunchy and funimation to allow them to provide streams to Australian/nz people. Of course I have no idea if funimation is even interested in supporting the non US market.

3. Turn Madman Screening Room into a proper streaming service.

Of course with 1 and 2, maybe their rights don't allow for sublicensing like that.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Aiura 2

Show still needs to be longer (or dump the OP), but still, it's enjoyable.

Yuyushiki 2

So, so much :sdburton. Still...I kinda am seeing what others are saying about it being a bit boring. There's enough CGDCT to keep me watching, but I do hope things pick up soon.

I just sent someone a quick note asking if madman even obtain streaming rights or not.

From The New World 5/6

Still rewatching, never had noticed some of the times a few of the songs on the ost played. The style change in five really did amazing things for Satorus image, best scene still
satoru and saki and his cantus return, really intense

Given the random episodes they put on the screening room, they must have some streaming rights I'd think.

And just taking a look I see they put up eps 1-12 of SAO.

Jintor

I'd assume so, but just double-checking. If so though they're chronically mismanaging all that stuff. I mean, I know it's hard to get online right when you're concentrating on other parts of your business, but you'd think for Madman investing in Streaming would actually just turn out to be part of their business.

With how popular K-On is, you'd almost think there was an audience for shows about bands. Then maybe BECK:MCS would get another season. Fuckin' anime.

Yuyushiki 02

Still not feeling it. I started tuning out from the first joke so I might as well drop it. I mean Aiura isn't exactly all that interesting either but it's like 1 minute and has CRABS which makes it easier to watch and then forget.

A show about cute girls playing death metal is something I still want to watch as Detroit Metal City's attempt at it (unfortunately not the girls part) was used more for parody than it was for being genuine to the genre.

Tomat

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
I get the feeling that a show about a cute girl taking a shit for 12 episodes would be popular.

Heartcatch Precure 24

Okay, so
the Heart Tree starts calling the three, so they get these capes and fly to it, but Dark Precure follows them right? And she's gonna use Dark Forte Wave to finish them off, and things look bad. But then, fucking Cure Sunshine puts up her shield and goes "NO NO NO! NOT IN MA' HOUSE!" and blocks that sucker. Then she uses her tamborine ability to send her far enough away to put up a barrier around the Heart Tree, going all "You have left the building, bitch!" on her. Day is saved thanks to Itsuki. Who's surprised? Not me.

So, about things,
Are the OP, ED, and transformation sequences and such going to change now that Cure Sunshine has joined the fray? The OP nor ED have Cure Sunshine (OP has Itsuki for a quick bit), and she has her own detached transformation now.

I think it's a reference to some of the themes Nakamura wants to taken in the show. "Crowds" suggests density of humanity, and in the message from him about the show, he says that he wants to explore the themes of humanity being able to visualize our hearts on the internet, and the pros and cons of this future we are approaching. Even though we're able to visually express ourselves online, one person cannot hope to understand everything in the world, and it is impossible to specialize in everything and become an expert in all fields. He wants to see if it is possible for the visualization of our souls on the internet to lead to something good, perhaps to tackle this limitation of humanity.

It's kinda contrived in how he says it, but I get the feeling that he's trying to tell a story about the positive aspects of mass communication and "crowd sourcing" of thoughts and opinions on a social media level. If that makes sense I guess. I dunno.

eh?

cant they just play it straight? this was the show that changed anime for better (or worse in some opinions)

Somehow I don't think K-on is popular because of its musical side.
