I was around episode 20 of Hyouka and for some reason I didn't really want to finish it. I should go back to that. And I'll probably go with Steins Gate first then probably & Humanity has Declined.

Thanks all.

Steins;Gate is absolutely stellar.
One of the best anime in recent years.

I'm dying here lol

I wish it were visually more attractive though. As it is I think it's actually a little lower than JC Staff levels. Still the spaceship design makes up for it, even if it is Duckroll'd

yeah the cg knife ships are really silly.

Hikaru no Go ep 1

Really awesome so far, Hikaru is utterly hilarious and perfect skill level for the start of these anime and I can already see myself behind him and cheering him on . Akira is of great design and must stick around, I need more of him and Hikaru playing as that was really well done and I think they may definitely get along well together, well if he does remain relevant in the context of the plot. Internal dialogue and then the scene when the realization was made, its all so dramatic both comments, as well as music, and the visuals. Sai and Hikaru are also really funny. Strong start.

The Light of El Cantare
Wait, he bailed on Yami? He's worse than a scrub. He's a fraud.

No wonder his garden is out of whack. He fails at yuri to begin with.

.

Yami had the most yuri ending in the history of anime and SDBurton's whole philosophy of yuri is a sham if he still refuses to accept this.

The new ED...Goddamn. I think I'm in love.
I'm assuming Cure Moonlight's presence in it means that she'll return in full force some time soon.

So, Heartcatch new ED is fucking fantastic and I'm dancing in bed right now.

I love Tomorrow Song as much as the next guy, but
the spoilers in it were really dumb, classic Toei level. Other than what you pointed out (Moonlight being with the team), there's also the shot at the end of them in Super Silhouette form, way before it appears in-show
. I was reminded of it this weekend when Dokidoki 11 aired and had
a commercial for the bow weapon right before the episode. The first episode in which it appeared! Which it did just in the nick of time to save their asses dramatically
! So dumb. (Neither of thse are significant spoilers, just playing it safe here.)

K. Thanks to Articalys' help I figured out how to make my thingy a survey so you guys can do this anonymously. This would greatly help with my research for a class and on my paper so if you guys can answer this to the best of your ability and honestly, it'd help a lot. Thanks.

Link is hidden in order to prevent abuse.

I have some suggestions if you want to expand the survey or improve it, or whatever.

- It might be helpful to have yes/no questions first, to make it clearer what sort of preferences you're filtering, and getting the person replying in the right mindset for the written replies.

- The written reply boxes should be multi-line text boxes instead of a single line field entry. It makes it easier to see what is being written and encourages more detailed replies imo.

- I dunno if it's a deliberate aim, but I don't quite understand the focus on anime as the medium. It's pretty restrictive and a poor representation of the subject matter imo, because of how narrow the medium is in terms of audience appeal. Entertainment in general might be a more worthwhile area to look at.

It's a research paper meant to present and show my findings. A simple yes and no would be alright but more data is better so that's why I didn't start with yes or no questions first.

I didn't know there was an option for paragraph text on google survey. I fixed it. Thanks.

It's deliberate. The professor wanted an extremely small and and focused scope rather than something broad.

Thanks for the input.

What I meant was, it should start with yes/no questions for those which basically have a yes/no answer, so people are guided along to know what sort of preferences you're trying to filter, then you expand on that with the more detailed questions. Surveys are kinda psychological in nature, and starting off with a question which requires a detailed answer can sometimes result in lower quality answers because people don't want to put in so much effort immediately at the start.

It's like how examinations usually start with a MCQ, before going into essay questions! Pacing. :)

Maybe, but it could easily lead to him resenting the show entirely.
You don't have to worry about that.
Probably.

I'm not familiar with the true nature of :sdburton, truth be told.

Yuri? Feels? Both?
In K-ON! terms, he's Mugi.
Tits have better water storing potential so obviously Chet.
Qwaser taught me well.

Here's hoping there will be more Ritsu x Mio moments in the future. Hype!
You don't have to worry about that at all. Seriously.
K-ON - 02

A few :sdburton moments that tried their best to make me jump ship from my current pickings, but I held strong!
There's no way you would end up jumping ship from the S. S. Mitsu. Yui on the other hand I could see going anywhere.
K-ON - 03

I can't blame Yui for slacking off, homework and studying for exams are such a drag.
Puni pu...
Someone less responsible than me would do something cruel now, like direct you to a certain video. But not me, I don't find amusement in the suffering of others.
...dammit...

Holy shit Mio I was not ready for that level of cuteness. And intimacy in the hot spring?! Aasdklasdfadfhlkas!!1!1!!!!
And now you know why I think Mio is the best.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 22-26

That was a pretty damn good series. As someone who's never really gotten into the JoJo franchise before I'd say it was a good introduction especially as it started right from the beginning. A fun cast of characters and some highly entertaining battles. As much as the low production values did hinder the show, you can definitely tell that the studio had a deep passion for the series and did as much as they could with their limited budget. I wish the finale was on par with Ep. 20 as far as animation quality goes but the sheer ridiculousness of the final battle scene was just so awesome as it kept escalating til the very end. So glad they
played "Sono Chi no Sadame" as the final fight came to a head
.

What a wild ride. Definitely gonna check out the OVA series when I get the chance.

Bodacious Space Pirates 15

This show is so greaaatttttttttttt

Although the Bentenmaru crew should probably just have installed slave circuits or something

We are officially friends now. I fuckin' loved Bodacious Space Pirates so hard. Been delaying starting the novels actually.

Additional staff credits:

I want to see a SOL anime with an English teacher played by an actual native English speaker. That'd be pretty cool.

Gotta be a cute girl.

Gotta also represent what I hear is the crushing depression of being used as a human tape recorder depending on where you end up. Probably that can go to her hard-partying JET friend the next town over

Yuyushiki 2

Words of the wise.
After last week's episode, pageviews on the Japanese Wikipedia page for the Maunder Minimum spiked from 40/day to over 400. It's since tapered back off though. After today's episode, the page about Soviet dogs that were sent into space jumped from around 60 views to almost 300.

It's going to be fun seeing what Yuyushiki topics actually get the viewers to look them up.

Vision of Escaflowne 2

So I kind of like it when in a mecha anime, you're shown, even if roughly, how the pilot operates the legs of his mecha. I think G Gundam had the best idea on how to work a giant robot's motions, because sometimes these mecha do things that I don't know how two joysticks can operate, but there you have it.

The other thing I like is when some manner of limitation is posed on what the mecha can do. It's all well and good for Kira to do the Hau-Mat beam-spam every once in awhile since the Joy of Kira is that he is so ridiculously broken (and Rau still puts up a fight!), but for the most part, its better if the hero's special powers are reserved. This is true, I feel, of ALL mecha shows. If the hero has amazing powers, his must be limited and the villain must have greater power or at least equal power than his for tension in the fight to be maintained.

It's the problem between SEED and Destiny. In SEED Kira became Jesus, but since Rau had been established as a ridiculously competent foe prior to that, it allowed for tension to remain in their showdown, if not during Kira's curbstomping of the mook armies (which, as KHII proved during that 1000 Heartless battle, can be fun on its own since those are just mooks.) Then suddenly Shinn kills Kira. Which is ridiculous and the plot has to bend so much for it to be made possible that I will not respect you if you did not see that for what it was: the writer forcing Kira to lose that fight. Because there's no other way this guy who took out the final boss of the last season could lose to a second-rate pilot like Shinn, especially since no Mega Man rules are in effect and Kira didn't lose his powers before that fight.

Even if it is Super Robots, this rule applies. GaoGaiGar finished defeating the Zonder, and the Primevals NEVER were shown to be weaker. He had to get a super power and a half to win that. But the introduction of The Power was neither sudden nor cheap. It was built up to, and had a significant impact on the plot. Contrast this with the bullshit Setsuna pulls every other episode in 00 where the writers make up a new power for him every time they can't come up with a legitimate way for him to win a fight. Trans Am is not ever explained and is never built up to. Same with teleporting. Same with space flowers.

What I'm getting at here is that, since Escaflowne is Fantasy Mecha, I accept going into this that there WILL be magic. Having magic powers is fine. What is not fine is never explaining anything before or after, and treating it like a crutch, as 00 did the Trans Am and Aeolia Schenberg's plan and in the movie being an Innonvoantorostkdoskfer. Since this show is so highly esteemed, I expect there to be a very small amount of BS in the fights.

That said, Bargus blocking a mecha's sword with his own was freaking awesome.
