If you don't like the manga, then you won't like the anime.
In both cases, skip the entire first-arc. Or at least, what constitutes the first genuine genre-shift. Which unfortunately entails the majority of the material the anime covers.
Put it this way, they're never NOT going to have a personality he doesn't like unless they're female.
