The Code Geass Complete Series Set normally retails for about $130, so the sales price is nuts. I ordered it a few hours ago when it was still in stock.

Code Geass is region A locked, but many are region B friendly.

Holy shit. Thanks for the heads up, I just ordered that Code Geass set (Says 4 weeks to ship, but whatever). I've been meaning to watch the series and I figure at a steal like that I might as well grab it up. I also ordered Barakamon for my wife since she loves that show and manga so much.

Also, I'm going to be doing a review for my site later, but I just wanted to vent about the issues I have with Akashic Records. I know there's a number of people on here who like it, so I'll choose my words carefully as not to offend-- but god this shit is awful! No but seriously, the issue I have is how condensed this adaptation is. They're running through Volumes at 3 episodes a pop it seems. This has the damaging affect of removing a lot of the characterization, as well as removing time between set up and pay off elements.

For example:
In episode 6 Glenn makes use of the Transmutation ability to disguise himself. But we'd just seen that done one episode ago, so the ability for the series to pull the wool over our eyes, and fool the audience for a surprise is completely gone because there hasn't been enough time and other events for us to forget that happened.

It's fine if you're enjoying Akashic Records, but I feel like we're getting a poor adaptation compared to what other Light Novels tend to get.

B Gata H Kei: Yamada's First Time - $12.99
Fafner: Complete Series & Movie- $13.99

Question on these. What is the difference between the S.A.V.E editions and the more pricey regular editions? Just packaging?

Is Eureka Seven worth it? Never got into it when it was on AS.

Hell to the yeeeeah!

S.A.V.E. is the last repackaging after they sold a certain amount. It pretty means that all the packaging before that sold pretty well.

The 19.99 price is completely gone now. It's only showing other sellers. I guess this isn't a "sale" so much as Amazon clearing a ton of stock they don't want anymore? Everything seems to be disappearing really quick.

It has a pic in there already (Taki & Mitsuha (Tokyo/Itomori) inside)

buying anime in Japan must be so confusing trying to find the right set with the right exclusive items.

Ah, right.

If you're a true fan you buy copies with exclusive items at all the stores of course ;P

lots of good anime on sale on amazon right now

C3 - Cube x Cursed x Curious: The Complete TV Series + OVA [Blu-ray + DVD]-$10.99

Dragonar Academy: The Complete Series (Blu-ray + DVD)-$12.49

Sky Wizard's Academy - $20.99

Psycho-Pass 2: Season Two [amazon.com] (Blu-Ray/DVD Combo) $23.49

note not all of that anime is good, but all of those prices are good for those series :p

Already have Code Geass on Region B BD, so I don't need that massive collector's edition. Ordered it regardless. :p

Also got Eureka 7, Haruhi Complete series, and Black Lagoon.

Wish we could get Evangelion on BD over here finally.

Do they resell the movie/show and just keep the exclusive item?

Yes, if the bonus items are something fans actually want. Usually happens more when there's various event tickets though. Got the Love Live movie on BD pre-owned in Japan for like 2000 JPY (or was it 3000 JPY? hm...) because of that.

Majikoi: Oh! Samurai Girls ep.2
uggh, I was hoping this would be a more lighthearted series, but nope, already onto the illegal weapons smuggling and bad antagonists/students. Well, at least I got a good chuckle out of this classic:

Also, this show has the WORST censorship I think I've seen in a long, long time....:

If I have to explain what Yukikaze is to someone but only do it one sentence, I would say Air Craft Porn the anime as you see where the production money have go into in this OVA anime but at the same time, I don't think everyone will love this show which make it harder for me to recommend people.

Yukikaze story is very odd and maybe hard to follow if you don't pay attention during the anime (something it might not be the audience fault as you can get confuse based on the scene you're watching). The main idea is this. Some sort of alien lifeforms (JAM) start to appear in the South pole in this pillar like fog. This pillar is actually an entrance passage where aliens force can to invade.

To combat the threat, the UN formed an earth defense force which counter attack the JAM if they did come out from this pillar. You follow Rei Fukai and his plane, Yukikaze, and the special 5th flight squadron in their mission to combat the JAM attack force and also founding out more about this alien life form, reason why their invade earth, and the dark secret of the military and the connection between all of this to Rei and his plane.

The story line isn't as crazy when I write this but it get really odd and confusing at time as you continue watching it. If you manage to stick with it and try to understand what the hell is happen, it does get interesting a bit. Unfortunately, they're time I feel like if the OVA have another 1-2 episodes, the creator might able to put in more back story of what happen in this world event and also spread out the plot more for people to easy to understand what is happen in this world.

For the characters in this anime, they're noting to like about. They do have general development between them but not enough to like them at all. Even the MC, Rei Fukai, have a personality which bored me a bit as he don't have anything special to say except his experience in fighting. They're is also a connection between Rei and his aircraft, Yukikaze. Kinda this relationship of human vs A.I. This is bit point of the development with Rei in the show as you see him react in situation when the A.I is literally trying to win the battle or even to protect him the final attack even if it mean killing itself. Same as the story, you do feel like they is more character development is missing from this OVA because of how short this OVA and if they add another 1-2 episodes, it might help develop the character a bit more better than what we have.

This big thing of this OVA is the aircraft combat and the CG & hand drawn animation feel seamless when you watch the battle. When they is a fight scene with the aircraft, it will look amazing to watch non stop to the point I actually go back to watch it over again. As for the character animation, it have this serious look style for the character but it make them a bit more ugly to see. This might be a good example of if you want a mature female character but don't want this cute look on her as all female character who is older have this ugly look but also aged a bit.

At the end, I actually like this anime a bit more than I expect. The air battle is great to watch and the story (even with it's issue) have enough stuff to keep me interested to continue the next episode. Still, the show is not for everyone but if you want to see aircraft combat battle non stop and does look good, I would take a look of this show as it isn't too long to watch (5 episode OVA).

Some material from this show.

It's been a few years, so surely whatever holdback that was in place is over now, or will be soon. Hopefully we'll hear something about it during the Summer cons.

Also, I love the contrast of pretty much everyone on that chart and the Osomatsu characters. Glad to see Jyushimatsu is popular.
