LWA is inconsitent, but it was still worth watching before episode 22, but the latest episode makes recommanding this anime very easy.
Also MHA was always great, just a bit slow, which isn't the worst thing ever.

This is no "FF13 gets good after 20 hours" situation (which it doesn't btw, but nvfm).

I watched the first season only and a bit of s2 and it is amazing (of MHA)

I understand that, and it may even be brilliant, but you can't justify having to watch something that isn't all that great for 22 minutes 21 times, until an episode 22 surfaces that makes the show amazing all of a sudden. Believe me, I love Trigger and all, but you can't do this in this day an age with so much else to watch or do. It's like MHA, when folks say "season 1 is slow and annoying, but season 2 is great!". I really don't want to go through 11-13 episodes just to get to the good part. Skipping over the content would also mean not getting the backstory (in my case I am familiar with the manga, but you get what I mean?). There is a certainly a beauty to having a crescendo of excitement until reaching a climax, but that doesn't justify having to watch so much mediocre content. Remember Phantom World? I thought the last few episodes were great! But I'd never be able to recommend the show due to how every episode before those 2 were between bad to mediocre.

I agree for the most part. (Not about MHA, its first season was good) LWA is now truly interesting to me, but it took forever for it to get there, so naturally I would hesitate to recommend it to others, unless they were a total sucker for shows like this.

Naaaah what's this all of a sudden. Maybe one or two people legitimately loved this show every week, but everyone else didn't seem to think the same. As an outsider I read all of the impressions each and every week, with folks constantly complaining about the show. I wanted to jump in, but I always stopped on my tracks.

The hate for MHAS1 is a tad overblown. The criticisms are legitimate, and they prevent the first season from being truly great, but it's not exactly super painful to sit through for season 2.

Episodes 1 and 2 together I feel work on their own as a perfect little short story and episode 12 has some of the greatest BONES sakuga ever made.

Do you like Rei Hiroe scriptwriting with a healthy dose of dialogue and exposition topped off with Sawano OST? If you can get through the obligatory terrible episode 4's, then it's probably for you.

Some people want more fighting, and some people want more interaction through their conversations.

I think people are getting a little too caught up in ep.22 hype. The flaws in LWA TV still exist. The twist doesn't justify the worldbuilding being a mess (unless there is some mass hypnosis thing coming which might be possible). It doesn't justify Akko being an idiot or the side characters being underdeveloped. Nor does it explain away some of the episodic duds or flat storyboarding for Diana's two-parter.

What it does do is justify some of the more egregious issues with the main storyline. It also adds a lot more depth to the show than I was expecting.

Holy shit, a Sunrider game with Japanese voices? I played the free one for a bit, and recall seeing the commercial Academy one there, but hadn't realized how things had progressed... including the 18+ factor...

Should I be watching Re:Creators? I'm getting mixed reviews.

I'm enjoying it and I think the concepts and some of the ways it's tackling them are worth it.

I get the impression it's best enjoyed binged than one week at a time - if I'd started before episode 4 or 5 the more talky bits might have been more offputting, but hey, I liked one of the talky moments in episode 4.

On the whole, I have to say that while it has its flaws, I've enjoyed LWA. I remember thinking the original OVA was cute and charming, and some episodes of this show are great fun. The twist in the recent episode also provides some rewatch value, so there's that.

The plot... has its ups and downs. This twist was well done, and in part I think many of the issues with Little Witch Academia's plot could easily have been fixed. Make Akko a bit more likeable and hardworking early on. Develop the side characters a bit more. Rewrite the two Diana episodes. Generally square up the edges and iron out the wrinkles in the script. It's fixable, and after watching Berserk 2016/2017 I'm not sure anyone could be too bitter at Little Witch Academia.

I just hope that the final two episodes will manage to pull off a nice and upbeat ending that feels like the characters achieved something and feels appropriate for the show's tone and setting.

That's a low bar!

Maturity, bitches.
So I just saw the thread where it's rumoured UK TV channel ITV is gonna make a live action version of Cowboy Bebop.

I apologise in advance when it's reveal Spike and Jet are played by Ant and Dec.

Carry that weight pet

Akashic Records Episode 10

LOL I love dumb plots like this especially since Glenn Radars is just having so much fun this whole episode.

But it felt like they skipped a scene because it jumped from duel mention to all of a sudden Glenn saying the class needs to be involved in it.

You shouldn't have been watching Berserk to begin with. Played yourself lol

I was hoping the Berserk blu ray fixed enough of the issues.

No way in hell can they make Berserk s2 better though. Unless you opened it and it said "there's nothing inside"

I think I liked this one more than the first one, especially 2nd half when it was in high school and a bit more Kotaro focused. Kotaro really resonated with me and I found myself really in love with his character and role, and just seeing him go through things with emotions. Though as often is my fate with characters in non bl romances, he stayed the third while Setoguchi stayed focused on her first love Koyuki constantly missing all the hints from Kotaro.
but then the last five minutes at confession time :( wow, no one ends up happy, depressing, hopefuly this gives him and her a good start to advance

Insert songs were great, but other parts of the movie felt like I was missing a few references (song in the dining shop, the other stuff there, magazine covers).

LBP3 continued to get love.

Now maybe I'm expecting too much from a series like Black Butler, but when you do a movie, blood effects should look better than this.

Book of the Atlantic? Yeah, that clearly does not have theatrical-level production values. I was grateful to Funimation for running the trailer for it before my screening of Your Name, because it made Your Name look even better than it already does by comparison.

Serial Experiments Lain
I just really soured on this by the end. The text just felt completely impersonal and unbeholden to the ideas being pushed forward. And those ideas are just so remarkably flimsy and nonsensical that the philosophical posturing that sometimes takes place just feels like it doesn't stand on any ground. It's really unfortunate because many of the simpler concepts find effective visual motifs, but I don't know how much that means when there is no real substance to the work as a whole.

The pieces of this that tread more towards aggravation are really the paranormal elements, which feel like absurd hand waving for the show to avoid taking responsibility for the psychological elements that emerge early on in the story. The occult, conspiracy, extraterrestrial...these feel like cheap referential ploys attempting to elevate the mystique of the narrative. Their presence feels even more offensive with how dry their insertion into the story is. Elements of the horror genre take over other scenes, but these can feel excessively slow, unexciting, and derivative. With the goofy supernatural elements serving as the spine of the story the series struggles to push anything that might inspire fear.

Symphogear - 5

Ok, this opening scene perfectly emasculates what I can't stand about this.

It opens up with some bitch speaking hilariously bad Engrish with another dude on the phone also speaking hilariously bad Engrish while the camera pans to various torture devices.

Then we see Chris strapped to an electrical device and the bitch tortures her with it, the bitch monologues about how pain brings people together or some shit, is suddenly naked and the two then have torture porn yuri sex or something like that.

Fuck this shit. This is the kind of Cross-Ange shock-value OW THE EDGE bullshit meant to get people snickering at how SCANDALOUS it is as opposed to offering any sort of engaging storytelling or characters. Is this supposed to be fun? I suppose so, if one's idea of fun involves suffering severe tonal whiplash as I'm left laughing one moment to being horrified the next while unlikable characters endlessly drone on and on about other unlikable characters.

And don't say to me that stuff like Code Geass or Samurai Flamenco is the same thing. Those shows had structure and actually knew how to give a proper set up that made their descent into insanity fun to watch.

This is just all just unsatisfying madness that tries to use its shock value as a selling point.

I'd normally drop the show right here, but apparently GX is the best thing ever so I'll keep trudging forward I guess. But man it's been a while since I felt so triggered by the opening scene of an anime episode.

Little Witch Academia - 22

Wow I did not see that coming but explains everything
I merely assumed Chariot was hated by witches because she was using magic for nothing more but show but it was a lot more sinister than that and completely changes her character and everyone else's struggles.

Really well planted through out the series, it's just a shame the series wasn't strong enough through out or this would have been such a good watch. At least you can count on Trigger to now give it a decent finale as everything starts to make sense.

And I agree that one twist doesn't somehow make the show amazing because there were still issues through out, some poor episodes that just felt to be there to fill the numbers and even if
Akko's magical ability didn't grow because of Chariot it still doesn't explain why as a character she hasn't grown much either.
It's sad that all of a sudden there's this extra depth to the show I wasn't expecting but it feels it could have been something even more special if it was a bit more consistent in it's quality department.

People say I'd enjoy Symphogear if I gave it a chance and got to where it really develops its identity, and I honestly don't even doubt that. It's just that I don't feel like putting up with it until it gets there. It probably doesn't help that I frankly struggle to conceptualize what musical/shounen/mechs/stuff entails.

I'll just keep playing Persona 5 and rewatching Biyori the Non Non.

The secret of Symphogear is it's bad until the back half where it starts an upward trend.

How can I be expected to like something if I literally don't like anybody in this show so far? Like, at all?!?

Listen if you're not enjoying Miyuki Sawashiro speak broken English despite being an actual good speaker IRL then you ain't living.

That was funny! What wasn't funny was the entire context of it all and the scene that followed!
