I will add that to my bookmark thanks! In terms of what I am looking for, I'd like to find something similar to Hyouka in the sense that it's a lot more "grounded". IE No fantasy, magic, or anything of the sort.

Thanks I'll have to check out some of these. :3

Grounded anime is 75% of what I watch. Hyouka happened to be the first anime I seriously watched, and it's also one of my absolute favorite anime, so hopefully you'll enjoy some of these.

Oregairu (also called SNAFU) - It's about a loner who joins a club with two other girls. It's a trite setup, but it's got good writing and actually understands people why people become that way. The first season is okay, lots of humor and gags and stuff. The second season is the actually good part, where the show really explores the characters and forces them to change and grow.

Ping Pong the Animation - GAF's 2014 Anime of the Year, and for good reason. It's less a sports show, and more a deep character study about 5 people who play the sport.

Show Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu - A period drama about two Rakugo performers (something like Japanese storytelling). It's got two fantastic leads and sublime performance scenes.

Shirobako - A comedy about anime production. Very well-executed and has a lot of relatable themes. Decently accurate portrayal of how anime is made too.

Sound! Euphonium - High school band stuff. The first season is a tight exploration of themes revolving around music performance, using its characters as examples. The second season has some weird drama that makes it a less satisfying watch than the first season.

Flying Witch - Yeah, I know you said no magic. But this is the most grounded show about magic you'll ever find. It's a show about appreciating the normal everyday life around you - the characters do things like plant gardens and visit cafes and talk about the history of pancakes. Half the episodes don't even have magic in them, and there's no action or anything. Absolutely the comfiest show of last year.

Edit: Also, don't watch Glassilp. It's not good.

Only thing that comes to mind is the 0080 hamburger ep or the last ep of G.

Oh yeah, definitely War in the Pocket. Can't forget about that.

Gundam IBO - 9

While I'm glad the show is spending a lot of time developing the members of Tekkadan, this comes at the sacrifice at the plot at large moving with the speed of a snail.

I usually don't complain about pacing all that much, but all this episode really boiled down to was the characters coming to grips with the responsibilities they now have and the fact that a war might break out because of Kudelia.

I'm not really feeling the looming Tekkadan V.S. Gjallahorn conflict as much as I was feeling the Black Knights V.S. Britannia or even ZAFT V.S. Federation.

On one hand, this is probably a good thing, as if it was more like the former, with the way Sunrise is today, IBO would probably end up making it feel like Cross Ange and more like Gundam SEED/UC Gundam if it was more like the latter. And we all know that Sunrise would be MUCH better off not trying to copy those.

On the other hand, I'm not going to be happy if there isn't a substantial payoff to all this.

This Tenmaya fellow is a real pain in the butt and an interesting addition to the cast. I'm glad we got more fiance in this episode as she has a really good dynamic with Yasaboro; more please!

Only thing I'd add to it is the aftermath of Mwu's "Death" in Seed. The whole sequence is very well done and the only dramatic moment in Seed that works.

Hrm. I think I'll start watching some older anime I watched as a kid and see if they hold up or if they were even good in the first place.

I love the Ghost Sweeper Mikami manga, but I actually can't remember a damn thing about the anime other than I somehow watched it along with Slayers at Band Camp.

Wow, Toei has the full series subbed on YouTube.

...Jesus I really miss old anime songs.

IBO S1 is a 25 episode prologue. No one really knows why they decided to package it that way, but it is what it is. The actual story starts in S2, but requires everything that went on before that to contextualize and contrast the real story they want to tell.

I'm not really feeling the looming Tekkadan V.S. Gjallahorn conflict as much as I was feeling the Black Knights V.S. Britannia or even ZAFT V.S. Federation.

That's because ultimately IBO isn't about any of that. Lol.

No lie, that was one of the most emotional moments I've experienced in anime before. There's this genuine love between Domin and Master Asia as a sort of father-son relationship that is just tragic to see end, even in such an explosive way.

Wait, what?

I haven't watched S2 yet, but it's nothing like the first season at all?

It's the natural progression of what Tekkadan is, from the events of S1. Some of it is familiar, but for the most part they drop the pretence of there being some noble goal or predictable path for the organization, and rather set them up as a reactionary group to things which increasingly grow beyond their control and are a result of poor decisions made before, and poor reactions made in response. I wouldn't say it's a totally different show, but rather I feel that S1 could have probably achieved the same goal being half as long, instead of being as drawn out as it was.

Another episode without Benten is another episode I love. I love the gag they don't show the girl tanuki, but come on man my ship has to sail and it almost did this episode.

Well, I guess Seika can be added to the harem now. Not 100% official, but it gonna happen with everything that went down here.

I hear ya man. I love their dynamic, even when she defends her moron brothers, lol.

Tsugumomo 03

This isn't a bad adaptation, but there isn't really much special to it either. First real big fight is next episode and the smaller ones have been mostly good, but in the end I doubt it will be able to hold up under the crushing weight of...things anyway.

This is what I'm worried about. I have no idea what I'm getting into, but it has been safe outside if that one scene so far..

Lmao you're gonna be in for a rude awakening in the next episode of the anime is at where I think it is.

That's the point where it went from tame to porn out of nowhere.

The mangaka realized he survived long enough to do what he really wanted with the series, to make it a hentai manga. Every single damn amazing paneled fight was just made so he could create more hentai chapters....Tsugumomo is really one of the best manga's that I can never recommend in good faith.

Oh man, this is some 90s ass shit.

I got half a bottle of rum, no work tomorrow and 45 episodes of Ghost Sweeper Mikami on YouTube bitrates.

Let's do this shit. See you on the other side, gentlemen.

[Little Witch Academia TV] - 15

Yet another actually good episode. Colour me surprised.

I've some people bandying about a conspiracy theory which posits that LWA TV was originally envisioned as a 12 or 13 episode series, but when Netflix gave them two cours, they just stretched the material out to fit the longer running time. At first, I didn't really buy into this theory but as the weeks have progressed, I have to say that it's feeling more and more plausible. It would really explain a large number of issues with the series.

So many of the episodes before the 12th felt utterly perfunctory. They were all dull, uninspired, poorly written and produced without any real care. Especially episodes like the one featuring the Dragon, the Zombie and so on really crossed the line from 'boring' into 'actively bad'. It really feels like some of these episodes were invented at the last minute, in a rush, with the express purpose of plugging up holes in the show's schedule. Even if the series continues it's recovery into the second half the series as a whole is still dragged down by all the 'filler' that plagued the first cour. It's a real shame.

Finished the Berserk 1997 anime, and I'd say it did get a bit too weird with the way the last couple episodes panned out even though demonic stuff hijacking the plot was to be expected after the behelit and Zod showed up, I guess. Having browsed a bit of the manga, I think I don't really like Guts when he's on his own or with one-shot characters (and Puck doesn't even count IMO), and liked it more when Guts was closer to Griffith because the latter was a way more interesting character than Guts himself to me. Like IBO's Mika, I think he shines brighter when he isn't the one in the limelight.

This was fun and good. I can just hope it manages to stay at this level throughout.

I hope someone will eventually remix the OP with some decent music so I don't have to torture my ears while watching pretty pictures.

Tsukigakirei 1

This certainly has potential. Lots of nice focus on body language with believable characters. Two leads are these adorable awkward dorks, especially the guy who decides to get iced coffee because he thinks it'll make him look more mature. Feels like the writer knows the difference between writing an awkward scene, and writing characters who are genuinely kinda awkward in an endearing way. Generally the show looks nice too, save for the CG people...which whoo. If that really bothers you, might wanna look elsewhere.

While watching that OP I honestly couldn't figure out if I liked or hated the music, I flip flopped back and forth several times during its run.

Simulcast Schedule is more or less updated, at least the times should now be UTC instead of UTC+1.

Hit me up if theres an issue, or if a show is missing.

Or if you want to see something in the Summer OP that I haven't currently been doing. Always looking for ways to improve.

I might as well wait for AOT to air on TOONAMI at this point.

So I guess the only new anime I'll watch this season is MHA, which I still haven't started.

Witches in the LWA universe really are fucking stupid. "Oh hey guys, I fixed all your problems. Why won't you use my solutions? whyyyyyyyyyyyy"

The bigger difference for me on the writing front is that Akko and Diana suddenly have goddamn personalities and traits. Before episode 14, how would you describe Akko without using the words failure, genki, or Shiny Chariot?

Great again. LWA knocking it out of the park lately.
Especially liked how the music switched from the fairy-tale fantasy style to this technical/sci-fi/mechanical sounding style with Croix in the tower. Neat touch.

PS: Kou Yoshinari is a beast.

Lol yeah, that also keeps bothering me. Waiting for the moment it's revealed to be evil/dangerous for stupid reasons just so it is.

It's probably just some super deep commentary on the backwards nature of Japanese corporate culture and the failures of the animation industry to use new and innovative technology.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Is no one in the academy concerned that Chariot is fighting Croix? Do they even know Ursula is Chariot?

Why are they all so incompetent?

This is why magic is dying.

I can't believe Croix just walked away from Chariot. I guess it's business as usual the day after!

We're already at kidnapping and threatening little girls.

Not like this. Not like this, anime.

I hope this is over faaaast.

Also, the hands that that women summons are actually the hands of her dead husband that got turned into her power? That's kinda fucked up.

Haven't kept up with Simulcasts over the last couple weeks. How come AOT has one more episode than MHA?

Didn't they start up on the same day and both air on saturday mornings? (UK time)

Episode 27 of AOT was great, I thought. Really dark atmosphere.

You're acting like Luna Nova Academy has CCTV. No one knows what's been going down in New Moon Tower!

I'll become a fan of Chariot from now on, I loved the whole Tower scene.

The series has found its footing since the focus on the grand plot and has even succeeded in making me interested in it. Even Croix seems like a good antagonist, fitting the themes of the show quite well.

LWA 15

Croix is going to be a bad villain whose only reason for doing all this is to prove she's better and more remarkable than Shiny Chariot and everyone should have paid attention to her back in the day. Something something, tired of being in chariot's shadow something something look at me now etc.

Here's a update of what I've been watching

4WcrTkq.jpg

I'm really enjoying Attack on Titan season 2 and the new boruto series.

Dragon ball super and One piece are okay standard at this moment, both about to go into their next arc but getting there slowly.

Right now what I'm enjoying the most is Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta.
