"Sprung is an interesting experiment, and as the second DS game from Ubisoft, it's a pretty bold move by the French publisher. Its willingness to tread some risqué ground, which most games tend to sidestep, is definitely intriguing, but your actual participation in the game feels kind of limited, and the repetition inherent to its gameplay makes Sprung even harder to recommend."

I would almost buy this as:

1. I'm back in America
2. I'm desperate for DS games
3. I want some hoes
4. Actually, getting a dating game will probably not get me some hoes

well, this is a dating game aimed at like, annoying MTV-reality show watching teenagers, not sad-sack dateless gamer nerds.

so instead of being cloyingly cutesy and sexist, it's annoyingly hip ... and sexist.

Aw, never mind. Maybe I should get PING PALS with its awesome Bratz-style character design

Don't get Ping pals unless you like the feeling you get when you gouge a razor blade into your wrist.

The animation is excellent, but damn is it short. My girlfriend beat it within 2hrs. Nice attempt, but this game obviously isn't going to fly with the majority of DS owners.

I have beaten this game from the girl's side. (Mostly I wanted an answer to the question WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY EVEN THINKING HALF THE FUCKING TIME ANYWAY?)

In summary:

-The writing is the only thing that saves it. It's legitimately funny without being over-the-top or filled with profanity (think old-school Leisure Suit Larry). There's some truly bizarre conversation paths, like
the girl asking her best friend if she remembers making out at sleepovers when they were in middle school
.

-There's not a lot of gameplay. It's not a "dating simulator" in the Japanese style, because those are non-linear experiences where you pick out a girl to go after and try to get the ending you're happy with. This is a very shallow adventure game about dating - pick your responses and pray that you're right, or else you're doing it over again.

-It had a lot of potential. Had they made a serious adventure game around the concept, with item-based puzzles and other such things in between the conversation scenes (again: think old-school Leisure Suit Larry), it could have been awesome. Instead it's merely a novelty.
