I thought Kitase had just an Executive role for vs and that Hashimoto was the actual Producer.

If that's not the case, then make it Toriyama vs Nomura, and it will be more personal that way.

I would encourage SE to create a Vana'diel single player game so every mmo-hater can actually experience how good the stories from FFXI and all the exapansions are.

Let Ivalice die with what dignity it has left after FFTA, FFTA2, and Revenant Wings, but as someone who hasn't played FFXI I'd be mildly interested in this.

Why do you think the top one is in-game? Why would we be controlling lightning in that shot?
They are both cutscenes.

EDIT: They are different character models though, yes. But still the top one is a cutscene as well. I guess it is proof of concept.

An example: In the case of Kingdom Hearts II they had two types of cut-scenes: "Cinematic" ones with high-quality models, and "low-budget" ones with mid-quality models and text boxes instead of voice*. You could be seeing something similiar in FFXIII. In any case we don't really know if the top picture is a cut-scene.

I'm really, really excited about Jun Akiyama working on Versus too. The cutscenes he directed in VS, KH1 and FFXII were fucking amazing. The way the scenes are composed, and the way characters interact, it's totally in a class of it's own. In comparison, KH2 felt like it was just trying too hard to be cool.

Eh I dunno, the cut-scenes in VS were really well done for its time, but I found the ones in FFXII quite pedestrian.

so her name is 'Star Night' and his is 'By Night Shinning'.

1. Yes, too much to name but the fight with Sephiroth is extended greatly. And from the looks of the scans, they will reveal new scenes where it's more about the children and their disease. As you can see there is a new female there as well.

2. Yes, even wii players can play with ds players online.

I don't know if these are from TGS (or even new), but Gamekyo has a trailer for Chocobo Tales 2 and Chocobo's Dungeon DS up, and they're awesome even if old

I love the art direction of CT2, it looks incredible. And I pray to God Chocobo Dungeon DS makes it into English (or the Wii one makes it to PAL :-\). Anyway, sorry if old.

There are three people in the party in the shot, but we've been told there will be four, so I guess it's just early in the game or something. It has HP and MP and a bar of some sort. Interestingly there are four command options, each attached to a face button. I'm really interested to see how this plays now. Whether you select your options before battle, or it's fixed like Pokemon or something. Or they're sub-menu titles.

It's annoying that after a quite a long wait, we get a leaked trailer from TGS, a few days later a new screenshot showing UI has completely changed.

Yeah, not only Snow, but I got to say I'm not really feeling the weather/nature related names. It's ok for one character or something, but naming so many of them like that feels forced. It sounds like something you do in sixth grade when you get random foreign words and name the characters you create with them. :/
