Square Enix, where is the FFXIII Collection?

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I'm surprised Square Enix hasn't announced this yet. I know a lot hate on FFXIII but I enjoyed it, plus it hasn't been ported over the PS3 to PS4/PS5. Can't wait to play the games in 4k/60fps.

Plus it will be cool if they can add the cut Seventh Ark:

They're on Xbox.

Can't wait to play the games in 4k/60fps.
The Xbox One X (and Series X) play all three of these games with full BC, 4K graphics, 60fps, with upgraded resolution cutscenes. Seriously, these games play just like a modern remaster.

The best part is that you can play them from the 360 discs, which are pretty easy to get a hold of. They also all go on sale for cheap pretty often on the digital storefront.

Where are the Final Fantasy Classics 1-6 and tactics.

A collection like how capcom done Megaman/ Megaman X or how Konami done Castlevania / Contra would be good...

Square seems to have a real issue with 6, I have no clue why that keeps getting ignored. They have basically ported or remastered the rest of them.

Not to mention the entire trilogy is due on Gamepass.

It's a shame MS didn't do this to more games. RDR and FFXIII basically have remasters on Xbox, and you don't have to pay a penny above the original cost.

I think the way they designed the Crystal Tools engine that powers the trilogy may have lead to problems in porting it to modern consoles.

Best option is to take the existing PC ports and rewrite parts of the code to run on PS4 or PS5. IMO that would be the right way in going about with porting these games to modern consoles as I fear anyone touching that engine to make an new port would just break a lot of stuff in this game.

The new Xbox one version of this game is the Xbox 360 version of the game running on a X360 emulator at higher resolution with the cutscene files replaced. its not even a proper port.
Square Enix may have just given them the cut scene files which I think is either the high res PS3 PAM ones or the raw files. I suspect the former as SE may not even have the raw footage of these cut scenes.
re encoding these PAM or the raw cutscene files in a higher bitrate and in the same bink format as the X360 version and then replacing the existing 360 version's cutscenes should have been enough.

The FFXIII trilogy just needs an simple resolution bump to look like its remastered. 7th gen consoles did not do these game's graphics justice at all.
Running these games in 60fps is another matter as these games were heavily CPU bound and if the PC port is taken as a source for making an new port then the games will be not able to maintain that framerate on the PS4's weak CPU.
The PS5 can maintain that framerate thanks to the zen 2 CPU and oh someone still has to remove that broken frame pacer to make sure the framerate remains 60 at all times.

No surprise at all. SE tried to act that game never existed. Now you reminded them. How cold of you OP.

XIII: Sucks, but introduced the Stagger Bar which is a great addition and some cool gimmicks with splitting up the party against enemies unique to their classes.

XIII-2: Added more FF fun and fixed a lot of the previous games' issues. Still a mess though.

Lightning Returns: A game I truly love. Took Majora's Mask and made a dumb, wacky, FFXIII story out of it. Game had massive problems, mostly with performance, dumb plot holes, and a horrid ending, but I love this game. The battle system is phenomenal.

For Lightning Returns alone, I'm in full support of a Remastered trilogy. Fingers crossed.

XIII and Lightning Returns are some of my favorite PS3/360 games. Not really waiting for remaster since I can replay them anytime I own all three of them on PS and Xbox, and someday I'll prob get them on steam too, for mods.

Xbox got some nice enhancements, so I doubt they'll rerelease them unless they end up needing a quick buck in between game releases later on.

On Xbox you get a resolution close to 4K and stable 30, and cutscenes are re-encoded to resemble the PS3 variant. I guess it is the best you can get.

They're 30fps on One X, have they been updated to 60fps with fps boost on Series X?

I know they can be played on the Xbox but I'm not gonna buy a console just for that trilogy. I really hope a PS4 port will be announced some day.

We'll probably get them this gen reremastered on both XSX & PS5
Square Enix probably held off releasing them after they did the Xbox update and realised they didn't have the bullocks to ask for money from everyone else because they knew they'd get backlash

All three games have been on Xbox for several years now, in glorious 4K. Games already look like remasters, no need to waste the resources of a talented developer to remake these.

They are not 60fps, but I have replayed all three of them. They are JRPGs, 30fps is perfectly bearable, and they look incredibly good.

Some of the darkest years in FF history. XIII really did try with good visuals, music and an interesting battle system, but the characters, story and design of the world were just so bad, it's a shame.

About the other two games, their subtitles should have been FFXIII part 2: Minimal Resources Spent and Accounting Returns: FFXIII.

I hope they upgrade all the grunting and sighing with Dolby Atmos. It'll be like you're actually immersed in a virtual anime bukkake

I loved the XIII trilogy and wouldn't mind revisiting it on a PS5 someday. XIII was such a well made game that I had a blast with on multiple playthroughs. The graphics on the PS3 were incredible.

Man.... hard to believe that we used to get a new mainline FF game every 1-2 years, interspersed with tons of other kickass Squaresoft JRPGs. It wasn't like now where you get one game per console generation, and all your hopes and dreams of the last several years are crushed when it's a disappointment.

I bought XIII on PC back then and it ran like absolute poop to the point I gave up after 10 hours, fps from 25 to 60 just fluctuating constantlly. I imagine a modern CPU can probably bruteforce a smoother framerate, but back when it came out it was a fucking mess. I wouldn't mind a PS5 version at 4k60.

Its just a hunch, but something might be going on with FFXIII.

On Xbox, the FFs go on sale all the time in the store. I put off buying the XIII's digitally till sometime later.
For the past year all the FFs including XIII were on sale - Well for like the past couple months all the FFs go on sale EXCEPT for the XIII trilogy.
Even last week they had a big Square Enix sale and XIII and its spinoffs were omitted.

yep very bad port was never fixed I had some serious buyers remorse when I bought it on steam years ago. My new computer runs it at a locked 60 thankfully

Maybe they're waiting for the right time to re-release it maybe when the Switch 2 hits the market? Also LMAO at people saying they're embarrassed by the XIII trilogy one of their best selling games in the series and in their release years! Clown world indeed.

I know you can play them on Xbox series X an they look amazing, but they might be locked at 30fps? Not sure. Would love to see a good port though.

Good luck finding one
/end thread
I struggled looking for a PS5, why should I start looking for another hard to get system. :p

It's one of those games i really want to replay but i don't have a ps3 atm, unfortunately Jiimbo and Hermen are too busy porting Playstation games to PC so they don't seem to have time to make thing that matter happen, like for example making PS5 full BC will all classic PS platform, so since it's the case that would be nice to see a FF13 collection happening.

FF13 has a so amazing and iconic soundtrack, so magical today as it was in 2009.
