Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Those speces make much more sense that those from a few days ago.

That said, I'd love to know what High and Epic means. DLSS? RTX?

Very much manageable by majority of players. Good thing many will be able to play this one... different from latest AAA PC releases.

Looking forward to trying this out on game pass before alt+F4 noping out of it as soon as something remotely scary appears.

I am going to guess my ryzen 3600 16gb ram and 3060ti could play this at high settings at 1080p. (my monitors resolution). I love stalker, own physical copies on pc, own steam copies, own it on Xbox x and switch.
Will probably buy both eventually, maybe will just start with the series X version, so that console gets more play time (as right now it doesn't outside of a few classics).

Playing through SOC on switch right now, that dark valley bandit factory - > lab x18 is unforgettable. I especially loved hanging on the roof sneaking around and snipping people. It was open world before it was a thing. It was emergent gameplay mixed with linear scripting , something modern open world design does not do. Lab x18 was terrifying and evocative. I miss games like this. The atmosphere of stalker is UN-matched, even in metro, its not the same.
I also love the rpg and itemization, the guns and armor being how you level up. I really hope the stalker 2 retains all that.

Very reasonable from the looks of it. I'll likely play this Series X via GP if they really have got Stalker 2 running at 60fps there, and buy a copy for PC to show a little support to the devs after all they've gone through while making this game.

Somewhat reasonable. Especially if that's native non DLSS performance.

"That recommended 32GB Ram makes me a little bit uncomfortable."

Ironically I just updated to faster CL30 DDR5 6000. Went from 32 to 64gb. Probably the best memory I've had for this CPU. Still waiting on the 9800x3d but my order is on.

For Nvidia Ada owners willing to upscale and frame gen it, these can be helpful to see, too:

This a joke? Why is the 4090 just 10% faster than the 4080S when it's supposed to be 20-30% faster?

It's 1fps faster at 1440p. WTF?

Hopefully they allowed for a Hardware Lumen setting. This game is heavy anytime a 4090 can't achieve native 4K 60. That's great news.

I'm only equipped for medium settings..... Man. I really need to upgrade at some point, but life keeps throwing me expensive ass curve balls that I have to deal with first.

Seems reasonable. Feel no need to upgrade my 3080 Ti. Probably a shitload of optimized settings from the MAX benchmarks that barely make a difference even with 400% zoom but to gain 30% performance like Hardware unboxed or digital foundry typically find.

why would the system memory go up at higher settings? I have never actually seen a noticeable change in system ram usage when upping game settings in any game.

maybe you'll get a gigabyte more, but if it's so close to that 16GB limit they're doing something wrong here

System RAM requirements seem really high.

It would be nice to know the amount of RAM the game actually uses, instead of the "just in case" amount.

That recommended 32GB Ram makes me a little bit uncomfortable.
My guess is the game uses about 10 to 12GB RAM depending on the settings. That's close to the 16GB limit if your OS has a lot of bloat. I have seen systems using 4GB+ RAM at startup (with 16GB installed) because most people don't care. And because the next step from 16GB is 32GB (who has 24GB or any other in between number really?) you get those recommendations.

If you have a clean system (no more than 2GB with 16GB installed) you should be fine.

I had a 1060 6GB for the longest time on a VRR screen. At 40fps lock and 1080p i never had to use a low preset with any game (let alone 30fps). I could run Cyberpunk with the "high" preset at 40fps with no drops.

This game claims you can only do the "low" preset at 30fps with this card. Well then i suppose it must look way better than Cyberpunk then.

Textures/assets. Diablo 4 will fill up your vram and then start grabbing system ram to store more for example. The game even warns that you need 32gb system ram for the ultra 4K texture setting.
