They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but The View host Star Jones may not think so when she sees PETAs new parody ad starring 6-foot-tall cross-dresser Flotilla DeBarge.
In the poster, DeBarge dons an enormous white wedding gown and a donated white fur coat spray-painted with the slogan Fur Is a Drag. Blood seeps from under DeBarges hands as she holds the coat above the tagline A Fur on Your Back Is Blood on Your Hands.
Jones threatened to sue PETA over the campaign, charging that the public might be fooled into thinking that the ads really feature her. Jones, whose penchant for pelts has landed her on PETAs annual Worst-Dressed list a record four times, has ignored repeated letters about the cruelty inherent in the fur trade, which beats, electrocutes, and skins animals alive for their pelts. Previous PETA parodies have included spoofs of Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Joan Rivers.
