pretty indepth look at the TGS demo, could someone translate the control scheme? Also anything new in that report?... rpgmonkey?
Jeez that's a lot of stuff...Probably won't bother with the above chunks of stuff, none of it seems new or was really unexpected.
Controls:
A: Examine when on the field, attack button when in battle.
B: Pick pocket when on the field, jump when in battle.
X: Dash when on the field, activates Rush Mode in battle.
Y: Opens camp menu on the field, circle menu in battle.
LB: Does nothing on the field, switch characters in battle.
RB: Adjusts camera on the field, switch characters in battle.
LT: Does nothing on the field, use skills when in battle.
RT: Switches movement between running and walking when on the field, use skills when in battle.
D-Pad: Does nothing on the field, press left or right o switch between Auto and Manual.
Start: Opens up a larger map on the field, toggles radar display in battle.
Select: Toggles map/compass display on the field, toggles radar display in battle.
Camp menu (divided into separate categories):
Item- "Use Item" and "Equipment". Pretty self-explanatory.
Skill- "Use Skills", "Strengthen Skills", and "Skill Setup". Use skills is to use recovery skills, strengthen skills is when you use you SP to raise skill levels for skills, and skill setup is where you set up your battle skills.
Character- "Status", "Tactics", and "BEAT". All are self-explanatory (BEAT being explained further above), but Tactics is for setting up your party AI for those who don't have much experience in party-based action-RPGs.
Data- "Encyclopedia", "Log", "Recipes", and "Quest". The Encyclopedia collects various pieces of data (like SO3's), the log might just be similar to Tales', just for a plot summary, no details on the recipes, but it's most likely tied to IC, and I guess you can take up non-plot related quests in SO4.
Collection- "Artes", "Starship", Weapons", "Monsters". Pretty much a collector's encyclopedia for all your data. The Artes are like the Battle Trophies, Starship has your spaceship information, and weapons and monsters is self-explanatory. There were 100 types of Artes for each character, 22 for starships, 147 for weapons, and 154 for monsters (in the demo anyway, don't know if this will change in the final version).
Settings - General settings stuff. Voices, skip cutscenes (yes, it's back!), subtitles, etc. There's a setting for Sight Outs too, but apparently they don't get what it does?
Data- Save and Load.
Circle Menu
Item- Use items.
Symbology- Use symbology.
Action Skills- "Search Enemy" was in the demo. Stuff like that
Setup- Set up battle skills (yay!)
Tactics- Change tactics
Change Member- Couldn't use this in the demo it seems, but it's probably that option to switch in an inactive party member we saw earlier.
Escape- Run away.
After that they describe how everyone goes into sightout differently, stats on status menu (level, BEAT rank, HP, MP, attack, intelligence, defense, hit, guard), and skills/symbology.
