Yeah I've never seen anyone talk in one, although I only did my first few today.
Don't really remember, but must of been the smaller one. As far as I can tell it was never installed on my machine so that's good.

Does this game run very hot on anyone else's laptop/PC, I've never had a problem with overheating on my laptop but this game really heats up my CPU a lot, is there some setting that is causing that?

Ah, I think I remember seeing you.
Honestly, if the PUGs would talk more. It'd be easier to win the optional objectives for more loot.
I'm on right now, and plan to be hopefully for the next hour or more

I lost yet another one of those random Borg sector encounters cuz we kept running out of time
Damn ship keeps creating too many Regen probes and spamming those cluster bombs
Those challenges have gotten tougher and tougher
@Shouta I've been playing STO for most of the day, I think I'm calling it a day for the rest of the night, if you wanna do the mission by yourself, no worries, we can do something another time

Goy my Defiant too such an awesome ship
Had a great fight with a Romulan Warbird boss where I just went at him at full speed used a weapon battery and unloaded everything I had on him, he exploded so fast was great to watch

Finally hit Vice Admiral and also kitted my ship out with the Aegis set. I do find it somewhat funny that you can max out your crafting skill in a day!
Tried STF for the first time last night also. Did "Infected Space" on Normal as there's no fail criteria for this one. Was fun but I could see that I need to update some of my equipment if I ever plan on fighting the Borg longterm!

You guys had me all hyped to get a Defiant at Captain - so I played episodes and fleet actions all weekend in my C-store bought Thunderchild class Akira.
Imagine my dissapoint when the Free Ship choice for reaching captain did not include the Defiant! Guess I'm going to have to get more C-Bucks and get the Sao Paulo(Defiant refit) as I have practically no Dilithium to buy it.
Hang on, the basic Defiant class should be available at Captain... what were you offered?
Basic Defiant is available for me to buy with 80,000 Dilithium - The Free Ships available are Heavy Cruiser, Heavy Escort or Research Science Vessel (Lt. Commander ships)
Note: I'm on F2P but have 10 days gold with the Alienware promo
Yeah, something isn't/wasn't right. I hit Captain and I got my Defiant on F2P.
Did you turn in the quest at the Admiral? Like actually go into his office and talk to him? I think that is what physically unlocks the next tier of ships. Right?
OK, so apparently I missed out on my Commander free ship as that was the quest I must have been given when I hit Captain - LOL
I went back and talked to him again and got the "Captain" promotion quest to complete and the Defiant is available now!!!

Q - Does the base Defiant come with Quad cannons or can you buy them for it? (I noted that the Sao Paulo refit comes quad cannons)?
I want to equip: Quad Cannons, Dual Heavy Cannons, Dual Beams and Quantum torpedo's up front and 3 beams in rear to make things go boom!!!

=) The space stuff in this game is amazing. The ground stuff... I can live without, although some of the scenarios they've created for the feature episode content has been very well done. I really liked the Coliseum mission where you escape into the Nopada desert.
I think I'll be buying Cryptic Points soon, hah. Doubt I'll hold out long enough to get 2k for the MVA Escort through dilithium alone.
Don't forget the cloaking device, only the VA Defiant refit has that
Or you could also get the Alternate Future Enterprise with the 3 nacelles from "All Good Things" TNG, it has the ability to equip cannons, cloaks, and a phaser lance that is more powerful than a traditional phaser beam

Been super busy these last couple days with wedding planning. So I haven't been following this thread.
What's been happening with the fleet? Did invites go out yet? I've been friended by 3 people in game, but last I checked I wasn't invited into a fleet yet.
Also, I'm going to log into the game today and try to level to 5 before that Odyssey class quest begins. Do they mean level 5 by flying your ship into those encounters and doing space battle, or going on the ground and grinding on mobs? Or is space combat xp and ground xp all the same?

I've been looking for a change of pace, and didn't want to invest time in another fleet knowing the gaf fleet was starting up.
I've been revising some of my space battle strategies
I've always been straight forward about letting loose a flurry of cannon hits before the enemy knows what hit em and doing as little manuevering as possible given my escort can't take too much damage... you know, thinking like a tactical escort captain would
Trying to incorporate other ways of thinking into the strategy using science and engineering tactics as well now
I am trying things like polarizing my hull and sending feedback pulses, using engineering heal buffs, and using evasive manuevers more, it's doing wonders so far
I just got myself a liberated Borg Science Bridge Officer I named Four of Seven, and he's replaced my old vulcan science officer. He looks so cool on the ground in his Borg gear, I purposely disabled the visuals on his armor I gave him so he can stay protected but still look Borg.
You will get one eventually when you join the Omega Group at the Gamma Orionis place for the first Borg mission. It's no biggie, just show up, hail a starship, and boom, there's your first liberated Borg officer for ya.

Here is my basic strategy for most space fights
When almost in weapons range pop -
Attack pattern alpha
High yield torpedo
Rapid fire cannon
After those hit the target I pop -
Jam sensors
Tractor beam (sometimes)
Attack pattern Omega
Drop some mines
If its still alive after that -
Evasive/brace for impact as there are usually torpedos coming my way by now
Swing around for another head on assault while my turret chips away at their shields
BOOM

Right click on a profile picture and it should be an option. Or right click from the Friends List.
I think the invited needs to be online though...
Sounds pretty standard for an escourt.
I'm using a cruiser, what I do is just start regular firing once in range, then start turning so I can broadside before I spam:
Beam fire at will 1
Emergency power to weapons 1
Directed energy modulation 1
Followed by:
Beam overload 1 (EPW1 and DEM1 still in effect)
Then wait for cooldown and do:
Beam fire at will 1
Directed energy modulation 2
And in between heal as needed with:
Rotate shield frequency
Emergency power to shields 2
Transfer shield strength 2
Engineering team 1
Hazard emitters 1
Brace for impact
It takes be quite a while to kill stuff with a purely phaser beam array build but I think it's cool because I'm tanky and never stop my pew pew.

Any chance you might've done the Khitomer Accord STF? I know there's a liberated borg officer reward for that mission but I didn't think you could get one just for showing up in Gamma Orionis - I certainly didn't get one anyway!

Yes. Theres a week long event from 2nd till 6th where Q will show up on ESD outside the admirals office and give you a different mission every day where you can earn special items (no news on what they are).
Also there will be an engineer officer outside admirals office (not sure where for klingons) who will offer you a mission to get a new free cruiser:
The Odyssey Class USS Enterprise-F from the guy that won the 'design the next enterprise' competition, Klingons get a free Carrier i think.

Man I was all excited about the Odyssey to be my VA ship and replace my RA Sovereign, but then I finally looked at the stats. It has a *bit* more HP, but is worse in every other way than the Sovereign (for a tactical character). Just swap out one science console for one tactical console Cryptic! Then we can be friends again =(
