Just had a group that beat the infected elite optional with a full two minutes to spare. Something like that feels very satisfying. However, I've never seen any items dropped by the optionals that were of any consequence, besides the occasional data chips and rare borg salvage.

I had one miracle random group like that too. We beat Elite Infected with over 6 minutes to spare. Ship composition was 3 Gurambas and 2 Fed escorts, so the firepower was pretty immense.

New Dev Blog on STO.com confirms we will be getting in addition to the new
Jem'Hadar space set, including the shield
but also new
space weapons that the Dominion use from the show... they use a special kind of Polaron weapon, called Phase Polaron. It will come in a beam array and also a cannon type.
Plus a limited time only unique
space weapon from the Prophets
for completing this chapter like previous season sets.

This is what I've been looking forward to, to distinguish itself from the other types out there... make it truly unique.

Saturday is almost here!

and then when they all gangrape you it adds to your get killed 25 times repeatable mission. so.. you got that going for you.

I just did the epi's till i wasnt high enough lvl, then switched to dailys and war zones til i was then back then etc... etc...

and dont forget your doff's! every lil bit counts

Another STF bit of fun, or not so much

I was just doing Infected Ground on normal level, from the very start this dude asks basically if we know what we're doing, nobody responds, the entire match the guy continues to judge and berate everybody, and he made himself leader, and nobody asked him to be. The guy got on my nerves, felt he had to explain every little bit of the map to us and what to do and not to do... this is not an elite level map, chill out right, but he wouldn't. So I just left. I didn't even get the 1 hr ban. Some people need to not be so controlling and judgemental... I mean I sorta expect that from elite level, but not at normal.

What is the logic behind attacking the gateway before the cube in infected space? You have to destroy the cube anyway to get the optional, and until it's destroyed it's a huge encumbrance that probably costs more time than it saves.

Carcetti

Member
There is no logic in that, and people who do it are idiots. Unfortunately idiots are not in short supply in STFs. It can work if no one aggroes the tac cube at all, but someone's bound to do it on accident if a magic super torp one-shots them and they respawn. It's always better to kill the tac cube first.

So far just about every group has gone for the gateway first, even the extremely skilled ones. Some people even insist upon it.

Has anyone ever completed the cure space optional? The entire mission is an impossibly broken mess.

If you die, you'll still get warped when it resets. In fact, you can just stay dead the whoooole time and still get all the credit, just be sure to tab back in every once in a while to turn in/pick up the quest again =D

Cure space is mostly about timing the cube destruction simultaneously so that you only get max 1 pile of neghvars, and it of course needs heavy firepower as well. Other than that, it's hard to pin the tactics down.

Generally speaking the gateway is an easy kill, it doesnt shoot back as much as the cube, so focusing fire is better, hiding literally behind the gate makes it so the cube cannot shoot at u through the gaping hole, and is too slow to chase you around the gate, works for some reason Ive found cuz cube head to head, u blow up a lot... Save that shit for the end, satisfying to blow that up and then mission is over

Any tips for taking down the tactical cube once the gateway is down? The groups I've been in have been more reliable about timing the generator destruction to avoid immediately losing the optional, but it's hit or miss as to whether we can destroy the tac cube efficiently. Is it fairly important that everyone focus on one side? I find myself getting one-shotted quite a lot, especially by some sort of invisible projectiles even at full health.

If you have shit that can tear away shields fast and things that inflict massive kinetic damage...

Some people that have cannons would rip the shields to shreds, and another group can bombard the tac cube with heavy tricobalt devices and if someone has it... the heavy graviton beams... makes short work of it

Unfotunately, teams are rarely that coordinated unless in a pre-arranged team fleet meeting

I would love to have a big GAFleet team up in an STF to see what we're all made of

My Prometheus (only the rear admiral version sadly) is loaded with all anti-borg weapons, with 2 Mk XII and 1 Mk XI phaser DHCs up front, two Mk XI phaser turrets aft and a Mk XI quantum torpedo launcher on both ends. I don't think I really fit into either group. :( I do try and hold off on firing torpedoes until I've dropped a shield facing if possible.

Best way to kill the tac cube is to have an energy drain boat eat away its weapons and shields (best done from upper or below facings of the cube).

Finished the last episode of the 2800 series:

It had stuff in it that I expected and stuff I didn't... for the most part, the teaser pics for this ep made it apparent you would be walking outside the station in a space suit, which you get to keep btw and is not a Starfleet one but one from the Dominion of all things, but it doesn't look particularly special. You walk around on the station, using thrusters hopping from place to place... a puzzle that really annoyed me, go inside the station, kill Jem'Hadar, get to OPs, wipe out Karakuns guards then fight Karakun himself, which proves to be kinda dissapointing that he seems not much tougher than his other fellow soldiers. We eventually take to a huge epic space battle (very very cluttered, lots of ships all over) once you take out 1 wave of ships, another comes in over and over, till a cut-scene is like there is too many of em! We see a cut-scene that introduces the new Enterprise-F commanded by Captain Shon, an Andorian starfleet captain. They help out a bit, with the U.S.S. Defiant as well, we waste the ships away, turn our attentions to the Dreadnought ship which has a huge amount of HP for its hull... with a couple of Heavy Tricobalt devices and plenty of DPS shredding power, that ship went down quickly though. We beam into OPs, hail some representatives including Captain Kurland, the Dominon, and the Enterprise (optionally). We get our prize(s)... the mysterious Shard that allows you to duplicate yourself twice on the ground only to confuse enemies. And an option to get either the Jem'Hadar Space Resilient shield to complete your set, and 2 Phase Polaron space weapons, the dual cannon (not heavy), and the beam array.

So far I've done this mission twice, and got the shield and the phased polaron dual cannons... I plan to do this mission a few more times to claim all the prizes, including multiple phased polaron cannons. The phased polaron cannons act like a hybrid of Polaron weapons and Tetryon as far as I can see.

Overall the mission was just as expected, but I was hoping for a lil more, so I give the mission 7.5.10, and the overall series an 8/10.

Edit:

I also managed to complete my M.A.C.O. Space set MK XI, woohoo

Easily my favorite episode of the series.
A real sense of scale walking around on the outside, plenty of variety, and a big finale. Especially as a Star Trek fan, it was quite an episode to be crawling all over DS9 and then have the new Enterprise come to help save the day.

My main complaint is that ground action was strictly solo. After decking out a new Jem'Hadar bridge officer with appropriate gear and even a Gamma Quadrant Tribble, I wanted to put him to use against his own kind.
Medalion said:

Nah, the real purpose of it is to get fun screenshots. Though I wish they could duplicate my actions, too--can't get 3 triplet captains dancing together. Also, these quantum shadows won't have on the space suit even if you're wearing one.

It's a shame that they gave
the new Enterprise to an antenna-head though. :p Speaking of which, what happened to the Enterprise-E? I know from the lore that Data, resurrected in B-4's body, took command of it, but there is no mention of it having been lost or decommissioned, and there can't be two Enterprises concurrently.

The Enterprise-E's fate is unknown. Looks like the last bit of lore about it goes to 2408, about a year before the time of the game. I've heard it said the folks at licensing don't want them giving an ending to the -E (even if wouldn't have to be followed elsewhere), but I can't back that up with more than hearsay.

An unintentional exploit was discovered yesterday in regards to the new Jem'Hadar space shield/set... if you have a DOFF that is a shield distribution officer specialist, thanks to a passive power of the set for (always brace for impact) and the shield distribution to heal your shield when brace for impact is activated 20% of the time, you pretty much are given infinite shield regen... it makes you near invincible, except if you encounter enemies that deal huge kinectic damage at once, you can still die but otherwise... it's an exploit, devs are aware, and it will get fixed soon. Just passing along if you wanna try it out.

I didn't find it that useful, really. The only enemies that really give me problems with the stuff I have equipped now are Borg, and I didn't find that the exploit helped me with their BS. :(

I really hope that downtime and subsequent patch last night fixed it. If not, they wiped out all my progress on a replay of Facility 4028 for no damn reason. I know it's a short mission, but still, the server went down right as I was transporting out of the facility back to my ship, and yet I have to start over from the beginning.

thats one of the things that a really dislike about this game. Every mission is a "instance" that if you dont complete, you have to start over.

? All the time I leave or get disconnected in the middle of a mission. It only sets me back as far as the latest specific mission instruction. In the case of that Facility 4028 mission, for instance, when I'd log on again I'd be floating in sector space, with the option "Continue: Facility 4028", and when I'd get down there it would just be at the "Use the transporter" objective.

Dominion Synergy means bonus weapon power for Polaron based weapons (because that is the energy type of choice for the Dominion, more specifically Phased Polaron)
Antiproton Sweep, was a technique first seen used by the Jem'Hadar to scan through the Defiant's cloak in the DS9 episode "The Search"... and does the same here, it will disable cloaks and disable or drain shields from an enemy

Victory is Life is a special bonus ability available only to Jem'Hadar ships and Galor class ships (the playable kind) when they fire their Polaron weapons, it will have a chance to strip a system of an enemy

+1 ability to detect cloaked vessels in space

Passive ability on the Jem shields to always brace for impact so you can free up that ability if you already have it in your ability menu

Supposedly the Deflector offers a better resistance to tractor beams

Bought a "Mark Infinite" scaling Lirpa from the C-store for 400K. That's half of the Melee Weapons pack they sell on the C-Store for $3. I didn't know those could even be sold. How rare are the prototype borg techs? I've never actually seen one, and I'm eager to acquire the MACO and Omega Force Mk XII stuff, having already basically maxed out the standard Mk XII gear.

Are you describing the mission in general? I'm talking about the optional. I've been in multiple groups that have beaten the optional for khitomer accord and infected elite, but I've never come close to beating the cure space optional. There are just too many ships to destroy.
Save that shit for the end, satisfying to blow that up and then mission is over
But if you die, then you have to travel all the way around the cube, which simply wastes time. And since the gate requires at least a minute or two to destroy, the cube may be able to reach you in time or at least disrupt your ability to fire at the gate.

So has anyone had the chance to test out the phased polaron weapons to a large extent? I've been using all my STF rewards to soup up phaser-based weapons on both my Feds and disruptors on my KDF, but would be interested if a full loadout of the new things is worthwhile.

I tested out the Phased Polaron cannons (4 of em to be exact in the fore)... they act like a blend of Polaron cannons (not heavy) and tetryon, because of their ability to also do a massive bonus drain to shields (2.5% chance)... unfortunately it lacks any other bonus' like critical hits or severity or accuracy... the combined DPS of having 4 Phased Polaron is still less DPS compared to my 4 DHC's uncommon which edges it out with slightly more DPS per cannon, and includes a 30% critical severity bonus...

In the end, I opted to switch back to either my standard polaron DHC's or my antiproton weapons...

I find the look of firing regular cannons so unimpressive and it does less damage...

however I do like the Phased Polaron beam array... the regular polaron beam always looked weird to me cuz it was fired in not a straight line

It's gotten to a point where the differences between my Antiproton power and Polaron power are so close... that it's almost a matter of, do I like looking at red or purple today, seriously

DarthWoo

How does everyone deal with active duty officers? I'm wondering how well they stack, and if I should be using the purple ones on active duty or keeping them for difficult assignments. I recently picked up the purple borg projectile weapon doff and immediately placed her on active duty. Do multiple doffs of the same time all have a chance to proc? Let's say I have two projectile weapon doffs. Their ability gives a 20% chance to reduce projectile weapon reload by a certain time. Does every shot roll both of them, with the potential to have them both proc and reduce the time by the combined amount?

Anton668

swear i just read somewhere they dont combine. ill see if i can find it again

ETA:
Heretic-Cryptic Studios Team said:
Duty officer active roster abilities of the same type do not combine, but they do stack.

For example, if I have three Projectile Weapons Officers, each with a 15% chance to reduce the cooldown on my torpedoes by 2 seconds, then the system will make three separate 15% rolls. One may go off, or all three, or none. If more than one goes off, then the effect - in this case, the time reduction - will stack. In the above example, if all three 15% chances proc'd, then the torpedo cooldown would be reduced by 6 seconds - still subject, of course, to the global cooldown minimum.

Continuing with that example given:

Chance of regular cooldown: 61.4%
Chance of -2 second cooldown: 32.5%
Chance of -4 second cooldown: 5.7%
Chance of -6 second cooldown: 0.3%

I don't usually bother stacking doffs. I also try to equip the ones that always have an effect rather than the ones that roll for it.

For anyone who's part of the public server testing on the Tribble server, they are finally allowing the pre-release demos of the new ship variants for the Odyssey and Bortas, check your starbase shipyards for em

I already tested out all the Odyssey variants (took universal consoles from 3 Odyssey variants, combined into 1), so far it adds a new combat space craft that jettisons from the aft of the ship hangar kinda like a Defiant but it's called an Aquarius fighter ship, it is all automated, it just locks onto whatever you target... it seems equipped with cannons and quantum torpedoes and has high manueverability... could come in handy if people still wanna use the Odyssey with new feature. There is a saucer separation mode, and an ability to deploy repair drones called Worker Bees. They are not impulse propelled, so if you full impulse away they lag behind and take sometime to catch up to you!

Had a pretty close call on a Cure Elite space PUG, after every other one today had failed. I'm wondering, just what could one of the ships have been doing that managed to bring a Borg cube from full health just after the probes went down to 6% in the short time it took me to respawn after I died right as we took down the probes? I wasn't really expecting it to be at such low health when I approached it again so I let loose with a full volley of cannon rapid fire and quantum torpedoes, and the moment I fired I saw it was already at 6%. Thankfully nearly the entire team was escorts, so we managed to hold off the attack waves completely. We'd already gone over the optional time limit anyway.

The Borg cubes themselves in The Cure don't have as much HP as the other cubes from the other elites, it is possible to take that thing down relatively fast, especially with all Escorts... it has no shields, or really low ones, that's why it needed all those probes to charge em up, they are still in dock... so with enough high kinetic damage, heavy tricobalts, heavy graviton beams, it would be close to done in several secs

Does it seem to anyone else like they buffed Borg damage in Elite STFs today? At least when we got to the tactical cube at the end of Infected, it seemed like it was constantly one-shotting me every few seconds, along with the rest of my team. I wonder if they decided not to fix the Jem'hadar exploit and just buffed enemy damage to be lazy.
