I'm about to start season 7 now, so I look forward to Sub Rosa and Genesis. I have re-watched The Game, and while it is also awful, it's no Samaritan Snare. I think I just have a special place in my heart for that episode.

Has Rifftrax ever done any TNG episodes? If not, they should get on these with the quickness!

Thanks for the list and the link, but dude... your lengthy "warning" is kinda weird. I've already watched the entire series. I don't need a treatise on continuity and character intimacy. Just wanted to re-watch the series highlights.

juts being honest! i think not watching at least a good chunk of it removes much of the charm of the show. how could someone who is so intimately familiar with the show not have a working knowledge of their standout episodes? anyway. enjoy!

What as that episode where everyone was trapped in a nightmare or something? Or maybe Troy's nightmare? And they had to try and get her to wake up, and she wouldn't, or some shit? I only vaguely remember it. But it def. stands out to me as one of TNG's low points.

beel - Not sure what you're playing at but I never claimed "intimate" TNG knowledge. In fact I said I watched the series straight through for the first time a couple years ago.

None of those are as bad as the worst of the season one garbage dump, such as Code of Honor. "Oh noes, the black Arabs are stealing our white women!"

Not counting the first two seasons:

Ménage à Troi
The Host (swear to gawd: back when it first aired, I guessed that
the replacement host would be a chick ten seconds before she walked in.
)
The Mind's Eye (blatant retread of The Manchurian Candidate)
Disaster
New Ground
Imaginary Friend
A Fistful of Datas (a holodeck-gone-awry episode AND a Worf-bonds-with-his-son episode. Two great tastes that go great together.)
Descent, Part 1 & 2 (did this even try to make sense? And turning Data into a crazy crackhead was just wrong, man.)
Gambit, Part 1 & 2 (the scene where Troi and Riker angst over Picard's "death" is a comedy masterpiece. Also, lulz at the alien ringleader's Brooklyn accent.)
Dark Page
Sub Rosa

sorry! i let my passion get the best of me, i'm sure. there are lots of good episodes and plenty of lists out there. certainly there are high points, i just think they're higher when you have a consistent narrative context. it's all good though! trek love.

"final mission" is so weird and awesome. i remembered this scene of them trying to jury-rig the phaser to zap the weird shield to get tl water from when i was way little. strange strange episode.

Beat me! I was just about to come here to post this myself <3

I've been an amazon prime member for years, but I've never taken advantage of their free streaming service since they added it several months ago. The selection was poor, the interface was poor, etc. Looks like I'll finally be diving in, to start in with DS9.

Those are all good episodes

Edit: While I'm at it, why do people constantly shit on Pulaski? Was it cause she was a Bones clone? So?

Riker is Kirk redux
Data is Spock redux

Both those characters are beloved (Data more so). Hell don't get me wrong, I love both those characters but even I see them as copies of ones that came before. Crusher in my opinion was to meager. Pulaski actually had the stones to go toe to toe with Picard. We needed that one the show. The only time Crusher was any good was "Ethics" when she was laying the hammer down on that irresponsible Neurosurgeon who kept cutting corners just to get the results she wanted quicker.

I just watched VOY episode where Neelix dies and gets butt hurt his religion was just a story.

Neelix was dead for 18 hours. Puffy bloated corpse on the bed for all to see. But, nope, we will violate his body and the laws of nature and use BORG TECHNOLOGY to bring him back as a zombie with no guarantee he won't instantly start eating their brains.

Voyager writes were such hacks. Gotdam. I much prefer Star Trek Galactica to this shit.

Thjere were a few things I loved in DS9 the first time they were used, then they became silly and stupid.

Agree on the Mirror Universe, disagree on Vic and especially Benny Russel. Far Beyond the Stars is one of the best Star Trek episodes bar none, and he only makes one other appearance after that.

Sexy Evil Kira™ makes any mirror universe episode more watchable for me.

Benny Russel in S7 was terrible. First episode was brilliant, after that it was just pandering.

The only thing worse than Romulan episodes are Holodeck episodes, in my opinion.

I love Klingons because you can predict accurately what they are going to say in any situation before they say it.

I've been marathoning Star Trek. It's such a great show. I have a new respect for Riker as a character.

It was such a huge fucking plot hole to have a cure to death. I couldn't believe it when I saw the premise of the ep. And of course, it was never mentioned again.

Quick status: we're almost through season 4 of Voyager. A handful of the episodes are unwatchably bad, but several are among the very best.

Season 4 was probably my favorite Voyager season. Despite introducing the craptacular Hirogen.

Year of Hell
The Omega Directive
Living Witness

All solid episodes. Season also had a great season finale.

Living Witness I'd put along with the early season 5 episode, Timeless, as the top two voyager episodes.

I just started Season 7 of Voyager myself. I stopped for a while midway through season 6 since by that point I was burnt out of Trek, but it had some great stuff despite some chaff. No changes in the characters (doctor, tuvok, 7, and janeway still great while rest is shit) but overall it's pretty good.

I'm on season six right now of TNG. It's incredibly weird going back and watching this show since it was such a huge part of my life growing up. My mom was a huge "trekkie/trekker." She had every single episode taped to VHS, found forums on the internet back when the internet was barely even a thing, set up a huge network of Star Trek fans and eventually started a newsletter magazine that was devoted to everything "Data." This was then sent out to hundreds of subscribers once every few months, during which we'd travel to an entirely different state so she could work with a publicist (that was also a fan of the show) to get the magazines made and distributed.

She'd drag me along to convention after convention, and on a few occasions, had me dress up as Data when I was about nine or ten and I got pulled on stage during one of Brent Spiner's lectures. I had all the toys, tons of books, TONS of other paraphenalia. She would buy me the toys to play with, then would buy another set to keep in the box (I still have all of those).

It's just so surreal rewatching all of this at the age of 27, knowing how all encompassing this show was in my life, and getting that flood of memories back. My mom died ten years ago, and it's almost like reconnecting with a part of her.

I've gotten my girlfriend hooked on the show as well, so it's fun rewatching the show with someone who's never seen it before.

The Experience really was a neat place. It was awesome getting to get onto the Enterprise Bridge etc. Quarks had some awesome drinks too

Yeah, I got to go on the last two days. Had never been before. Did not get to see much of the shops as only one was left with everything crammed in. Sampled too much food, and the Klingon made a snide comment about me not finishing my food. Spent one afternoon at the bar watching episodes, was delightfully nerdy. Rode the rides a few times, both were fun. The Transporter effect on the Klingon attack ride was really cool, as I had absolutely no clue what to expect. On the last day there was a glitch and they had to reset the Klingon ride while we were going through the walking portion, so while we were waiting they took us back to the bridge set and let us screw around for 10 minutes uninterrupted while the actors improvised (in character). Was really thrilled to go. Coolest part about the whole thing was paramount sent in a camera crew to film the last few days, and they threw it on the TNG movie Blu-Ray set. I can spot myself in the background a few places.

Nice. Yeah the last time I went to it took a buddy and his Mom and the Ferengi kept trying to buy her from us and talking about how distasteful it was for a female to be wearing clothes etc. Was rather fun. Ferengi was probably a fun job cause could say stuff like that and not get into trouble lol

Yeah the actors were amazing. They really knew the characters and mannerisms and could go full on geek talk with people.

I finished the second and third season of the original series. Now I need to finish watching the episodes I missed from the first season. The thing I really love is that the episodes don't always end on a happy note.

Agreed episodes like A Taste of Armageddon ended with the whole situation being very dark and uncertain and its confirmed later in sources that they do end up more or less killing each other in Nuclear war

what he says about crying when people booed him offstage makes me unusually sad. i liked wesley crusher. i'm watching later seasons now and i miss his presence, to be honest.

wil wheaton sounds like a great dude.

I haven't watched TNG in ages, but he always struck me as an annoying tertiary type character who was thrown in to appeal to a younger audience.

It made me sad when Harry Kim said he studied TNG adventures when he was in school. I suddenly felt old and pictured Picard and Beverly in a rocking chair at some old folks home.

Well, there were two people who watched TNG. People who hated Wesley, and took it out on Wheaton, and people who just hated Wesley, and didn't take it out on Wheaton.

I hated Wesley, his was a very unrealized character, that could have been much more. He was the epitome of the Mary Sue character. That being said, the one standout episode Wesley had was "The First Duty", which was amazing. DS9 showed you could do great things with kid characters. With Jake and Nog, everything was done right.

Wheaton is a class act and has handled the fan hate way better than most people would.

I don't blame Wheaton at all. Wesley is Roddenberry's fault, straight up.

Just shows how fucking stupid Voyager was. Picard and crew were out doing daily routines even after Voyager was lost. Kim literally started school right around the time Picard took command of the enterprise.

Wesley was a waste of a character, but he wasn't terrible (aside from a few episodes) and Wheaton did what he could with it. The backlash is greatly over-exaggerated, and Wil suffered for it. Fortunately he seems to have bounced back and moved on.

I just wanted to pop in and say I am watching the Trek series I didn't watch very much, if at all, first instead of re watching episodes.

I thoroughly enjoyed Enterprise. I honestly did, the only reason I figure it was polarizing is it obviously didn't follow the Trek continuity/history "bible" which isn't a concern to me.

The character of Captain Archer was very flawed and confusing and his decisions are some of the worst in Trek Captain history, but overall the rest of the crew was just great in my opinion especially "Trip"Tucker, T'Pol, Travis and of course Dr. Phlox (such a cool character)

I don't get the hate, maybe because it has THE WORST OPENING THEME EVER...

Now for Voyager... I am on Season 2 and am finding it unwatchable (Faces had to be the creepiest Trek episode ever) I have fallen asleep watching other episodes multiple times, the entire holographic doctor is just, bleh. Fucking Neelix , at times is super cool and other times I want to stab him in the face. Janeway is the pits, horrible just horrible, the guy with the face tattoo is the pits, the half Klingon is whatever...I like Harry Kim and Tom Paris.

Enterprise was better, real talk

...oh and so,so, many holodeck episodes and subplots, why?!

If it doesn't get better I will just move on to TNG and my favorite series DS9.

Just watched S5 Episode 6-The Game. An aptly named title as Wesley has no game at all, when it comes to women. He manages to ask a hot, young Ashley Judd out, and then on their dinner date, they go to the lab. WTF IS THAT SHIT SON.

Of all 21 seasons made for the franchise, all but 6 have had pretty cool doctors.

Enterprise was better than Voyager to me, while it didn't seem to go anywhere and was boring at times, it didn't have so much awful that Voyager had. Voyager gets a bit better around season 4, but still full of so many wasted possible plot lines and shitty one off eps.

DrForester

I put Voyager over Enterprise because there's two Voyager episodes ("Timeless" and "Living Witness") that I can say "These are some of the best episodes of the franchise". Enterprise, even at it's best, never hit that level. Season 4 was good, but I have to be honest in saying it was good because expectations were so low due to what had come before. They were entertaining episodes, but they were not the top tier Trek episodes.
