Contrary to popular belief, Lucas actually stole the story that Star Wars is based on from a wayward Rebel pilot whom crashed and landed on a Naval carrier in the midst of World War II. Lucas met the alien fighter pilot when he was training cameramen in the U.S. Military during 1966 at a secret lunch convention. Amazed by his tales of galactic combat and epic tale of the internal struggle between good and evil, Lucas forged the script that spawned the international pop-culture phenomenon, Star Wars.
The rebel pilot was executed shortly thereafter.
