I've played Walker Assault on Jakku. Looks great. The SSD crashing in the background was awesome. I hoped it would make an impact on the Battlefield though!

Spawned 3~4 times infront of a manned AT-AT ... kinda sucked

I had no problems playing WA on Jakku yesterday

There seem to be big discrepancies between regions in player availability.
Asia + PC is probably the worst in that regard.
I tried playing Turning Point at around 11:30 a.m (Japan time) today, and we were only 8 in the lobby. I waited 10 minutes, and since nobody else was joining, I just gave up and turned the whole Jakku DLC off in order to be able to play a few rounds in other modes.

Turning Point really loses its charm when you get to the last control point. It just descends into unfun chaos of Rebels and Imperials just throwing waves of bodies at each other and repeatedly dying.

Matchmaking certainly seemed to have gone a little funky last night. They're really going to want to address that asap.

Barrage was a bit overpowered but it's now been nerfed so hard that it's become a bit worthless. I'm glad they seem to have made the grenades weaker across the board though - I even found that impact grenades seemed to take slightly longer to actually throw last night? I think I might switch back to the bowcaster.

I'd still be interested to hear if anyone on pc thinks the DL-44 is broken. I'm becoming more and more convinced it's an issue on console because of the exaggerated snap-to aim assist people have mentioned. I rarely die to it on pc and when I do it seems to be to headshots.

I'm even getting good at killing at mid to long range with it, its ridiculous.

Try again just in case they patched in since the first ram eh? Dem points :p

Ah didn't notice you were on pc too, fair play. I guess I must have been really lucky with it? I'm over 60 hours in now on the full game and feel like I've only died to it a handful of times. I seem to die more often to that big long range slow firing gun... t21b? Whatever gun it was I hated using it myself, so more power to whoever does use it!

I routinely get insta killed by the Dl-44 on PC, but my SC-5burst (I can't remember the damn name,seriously) is a god damn beast as well. Especially with explosive shot. Like,jesus,explosive shot is just brutal on burst weapons.

IT certainly is. Even without cheesing it I regularly get 4000-8000 points without getting the hero and matches are short too.

I'm still enjoying the game, but couldnt get a match the other night, just kept putting me into empty games and never adding enough people.

What does the #x mean above the checkpoints? Do any of them even matter besides the last one? Why am I guarding a spot only to be told we've lost another and it's over for all of them?

Sorry for the probably stupid questions. This is my very first online multiplayer game and it doesn't explain itself very well sometimes. I think the expectation is that all of this is common knowledge, which is kinda silly given the casual audience they seem to be going for.

Edit: also, is there some hidden practice mode for ships? I haven't played the fighter mode because I'm fucking awful just grabbing one in Walker Assault or TP and I know I'll get slaughtered.

I'm having a lot of trouble not getting matches other than turning point right now on XB1. Firdt time this has happened.

Edit: taking off option for new content did the trick. Weird.

Patch this shit DICE, your game does not have that much people playing already and this is only going to make it worst.

The Rebels are pushing the Empire back.
The capture progress on capture points does not reset.
If one point on a line is captured, it moves to the next line. That's what's being shown at the top.

You definitely get a shot of xwings, snowspeeders with tow cable takedown and speederbikes in the training missions. I think you get a shot of tie fighters too, can't remember for sure on interceptors or a-wings.

There is. Go to Missions > Training. There are X-Wings and a Snowspeeder mission.

Yeah, I saw an unreal amount of Thermal Imploders being thrown about in the end. It's like everyone had one and I keept hearing the "VROOM" non stop.

don't really need tie fighter training, once you learn to fly the X-wing they are all the same just with different special on L1.

They do.

I'm liking Turning Point for the most part, but you really gotta make sure your teammates are doing what they need to do. Rebels have to advance, not crowd more than 5 people onto a point, and kill AT-STs as fast as possible. Imperials need to kill speeders and slowly push the rebels back, but not so far back that the control points are left open to attack. They also need to make sure that the rebels aren't allowed to group up for a big five-person push into a control point.

Most frustrating thing so far has just been watching rebels hang back behind trash instead of going on the offensive, or seeing Stormtroopers rush head-on into groups of rebels all by themselves instead of flanking or grouping up.

For shits and giggles I tried the game at 4K with 200% resolution scaling and -3.0 mip map to sharpen up textures. Ran at like 1 frame per 5 seconds. Here's a cropped sample of the full image on Endor.

Certain things feel off after the patch.. still doing well, but I have seen a shit ton of T-21s pop up.

- My EE-3 and explosive shot seem nerfed. I have had to pump 3 shots up close into someone with it, definitely not as strong as it was.
- E-11 still seems random as fuck. I get two shotted by it, I pick it up myself and it turns into a straight up pea shooter.
- Imperials still have virtually no chance to win on Endor, no idea if changes were made on Endor but I did manage to get to tier 3 a couple of times today and that's more than I have been in tier 3 since launch.
- Sullust suddenly became way too easy to win for the Rebels. Interceptors to tier 1, fighters to tier 2.

Kinda amazing that they decided to give Imperials an even more difficult time than before.
 
Does anyone know if EA's phone support is only based in India? I had a very hard time getting through my support guy's accent last night and when I ask for a callback today I don't want to have the same issue.

The spawn points for the Imperials on Endor are ridiculous now. You spawn 200m from the stations, or more. It takes a loooong time to get there.

Sullust air game for Imperials on tier 2 is fucking horseshit and like Endor one of those blatantly obvious indicators that the map design and balance of this game can be laughably phoned in at times, and you can't help but wonder who greenlit this shit and if any effort was put into testing. In the case of the former you're look at 3 A-Wings or 2 A-Wings and 1 X-Wing against fucking TIE fighters. TIE's that spawn in immediately prone to damage. If an A-Wing is in vicinity you will die within 5 seconds of spawn.

Like...who the fuck thought this was a good idea? Who conceived this shit?

I wish they would flash up "HEY YOU CAN USE YOUR MISSILES ON REBEL SHIPS" when you get in an AT-ST. I don't think most people play through the training and I've rarely seen anyone attempt to take down ships with it.

Played for about 3 hours post-patch last night and received regular “bad connection” messages for a few seconds at a time.

Also had a weird hero bug. Chose Boba on Jundland Wastes in Walker Assault, I EE-3’d a dude and killed him as he Barraged me. I backed off from the barrage, but caught the tiniest bit of splash damage while jetpacking away. Apparently the reactionary stun/cringe animation was active (from the explosive splash damage) as I jetpacked away so when I landed, Boba when into a constant state of squat-hopping. I could jetpack and shoot but as I moved, Boba was in a constant squat position and hopped like a frog everywhere. His gun disappeared for a few seconds also, but his hands still positioned around it like it was invisible and I could still shoot. I saved the vid but didn’t think it was worth uploading.

After getting killed one times too many by an a-wing strafing run,I spent some time with the ion missile trying to shoot down aircraft - and in 10-15 attempts didn't score a single hit with the missiles i launched. Seems pretty hard to do.

I tried it a few times as rebel as well and scored 1 hit on a tiefighter (but i focused mainly on the at-st's to be fair)

Its really only effective firing ion torpedoes at aircraft if you have a second person waiting with you to fire after they dodge the first shot.

It's best if you can hold your target lock on them and worry them into using up their air maneuver first, before you fire. You can tell if they've used it cause you'll lose lock for a couple of seconds then get it again. Good pilots won't use it until they see the missile is incoming though.

With their shields it really isn't anywhere near as effective versus rebels though. Locked torpedos can still be avoided with good flying too, ducking into a canyon etc. - You can still pester them in order to waste their ship time, but you waste your own time too. I think if there are 2+ of you playing together with ion torpedos it'd be pretty easy to work together to bring down ships by staggering your cooldowns.

My thoughts going through his points:

1. Grenade spam is a quick way to ruin a game without shields. I can think of several where it has been the case, including several single player games. It's just really annoying to deal with when overdone and should maintain at least a Halo level of moderation. Granted, grenades in FPS multiplayer kinda started out as spam with the famous grenade launcher in Quake, but that game is an entirely different beast with instant respawn and no objectives.

5. Spawn camping/exploitation is another major issue that just flat out isn't fun to have to deal with. They should have serious protections against this.

8. Sounds really OP and dumb, worse than being just "grenades for vehicles" since it literally locks on. Anti-vehicle stuff should be specialist stuff just as the vehicles themselves.

9. He has good recommendations. A damage percentage basis and randomized order seems like it would clear up the issues of both confusion and willful laziness. You need to consider the most trolly way a person could possibly play a mode when you design it, because tons of random assholes online will go to playing that way straight out.

For the flying and turret criticisms it seems he just needs to have a controller plugged in and switch out to it when he gets in something since he is playing on PC. This has been a very common thing to do in titles mixed format gameplay for years so I don't know why he seems clueless about it.

Anyway, those issues seem like the kind of thing that would put me off. I suppose in general I'm also simply more in the mood for something slower paced, so watching streams of R6 Siege have been appealing to me more than this game, but this still does have an arcade sort of appeal, it just needs to sort out these spam and troll issues.

So do you think he is correct about this stuff, or is it really much less impactful than he seems to be making it?

Ah, thanks for the tip. I play solo, but i'll try holding off blowing my payload and see if that helps :)

With your username i'm surprised you've not already been torn apart in this thread ;)

I've not seen the video and I'm at work, but grenades for example have been nerfed in the patch yesterday and someone was saying spawns on some levels/modes appeared to have changed slightly(?)

i'm assuming 8 refers to ion torpedos which we are just discussing are hard to actually kill with! 9 im guessing is heroes vs villains, literally the only mode i've not bothered with because of the crap setup. And yes, since the beta I've been using a controller for flying and it's fine.

those complaints are all minor as far as i'm concerned. I do have some niggles but my main issues still come down to: no server browser, at-ats being too weak on endor, a-wing hitbox and hero vehicles/boba being pretty OP.

This is one of those games where I'd really recommend to people to play it and decide for yourself.
 
Man, how the hell did they fuck up Heroes vs Villains? It's really annoying when your specials won't work. Probably gonna take a long time for a ps4 patch, huh?
