Star Wars |OT| I have a very good feeling about this...

Hit the halfway mark in Catalyst. Pretty damn entertaining. It was neat seeing Jyns mom being named Lyra. It's the name my wife and I already decided on for our kid that's coming if it's a girl. Also the characters name in The Golden Compass.

tickets this monday??

Rumor is Monday after thanksgiving.

Also displeased at Emilia Clarke casting news. Not only because she's not that good (90% of the GoT cast acts rings around her) but seriously, I'm a light skinned brunette, so growing up I was all about my resemblance to Leia and my greatest disappointment in life is that I didn't get to play the twins' mom (who also looks like me) but REALLY? Can we get a (live-action) heroine that looks different?

I've neglected it for months, but, I've finally got to starting Bloodline. Sat down to get started into it and ended up breezing through the first 100 pages, amazing stuff so far - shaping up to be the best in the new canon if it can maintain this standard throughout. I loved Lost Stars so I'm not surprised Claudia Gray is hooking me in again.

Unsurprisingly Empire have a Rogue One issue coming next week.

This is the pretty sweet subscriber cover.

We’ll be revealing the main newsstand cover next week, ahead of the issue going on sale to all good and Imperial newsagents from Thursday 24 November. As you’d expect, it’s chock full of Rogue One goodness, including interviews with director Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker and Riz Ahmed.

Hey, Star Wars GAF. I've come needing a recommendation. I don't own any Star Wars films on Blu Ray, and I think it's time to fix that. Is Star Wars: The Complete Saga the best version of them that I can buy on Blu Ray?

I wish I could get the unedited theatrical versions, and I've read rumors about those being released for what seems like years now, but I'm kind of skeptical that it'll happen anytime soon. Have any of you heard anything recently about the unedited versions being released on Blu Ray, or is that still firmly in the realm of fan hopes and dreams with no actual validity to the rumors?

I think it's still wishful thinking at this point. The Complete Saga box set's probably your best best for the foreseeable future.

Was getting caught part of your plan?

You can gamble for them announcing something at the 40th anniversary next year, but there isn't any ground for that claim. Just get the Complete Saga.

Complete Saga for sure.

I'm holding off on buying any further Star Wars sets until the end of the current trilogy, unless a 40th anniversary set actually happens and wows me.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll wait until Black Friday to see if the price slips a bit more before I buy it, but I'll be sure to get the Complete Saga before the year is over. I'll probably grab the Force Awakens Blu Ray too before the year's over. I thought I'd try being patient for a few years and waiting until episodes 7, 8, and 9 were released as a set on Blu Ray, but patience has never been one of my virtues.

I bought the complete saga, for the prequels, extras and empire isnt messed up too badly.

Then got hold of the despecialised editions online, for when i feel like watching the Original Trilogy, best we have for now (all the extra bits added in removed once again) because chances are Lucasfilm will never release something like these.

After looking into it, it seems there were 4 different retailer-exclusive releases of The Force Awakens back in April, with the Target release having extra bonus content, and now there's been another release this month in 3D claiming to have even more bonus content, which I think adds an extra commentary track. Is this new 3D version the one to buy? Does the 3D version's bonus content include the Target-exclusive content from the first release or do you have to buy the original release from back in April to get that?

I don't really care about 3D and will never watch the movie that way, but I'd like to get the most complete version that's being offered right now. I'd also like to kick in the jaw the marketing people responsible for nonsense like this, but I can't say I'm surprised by it.

Entertainment Weekly are doing a Rogue One issue this week.

There's a bit of new info on the space station above Scarif we've seen in the trailers and TV spots, with more to come over the next couple of days.

Star Wars fans have been wondering: What is the wheel-shaped space station that an X-Wing squadron is seen attacking in Rogue One?

What you’re looking at is the Shield Gate, and the world below is Scarif, a tropical planet that is one of the Empire’s key military bases. Think of it as a galactic Los Alamos, the top-secret desert town where scientists and engineers built the first nuclear bomb during World War II.

Scarif is a gigantic version of that — a remote weapons development facility that is so precious to the Emperor that the entire planet is covered by an impenetrable force field.

“You can see the blue sheen surrounding the entire planet,” Rogue One co-producer John Swartz says. “The shield gate is the security. As Imperial ships and cargo comes through, it punches a hole in the shield so they can pass. The gate officer gives clearances as they give out their call signs.”

Listening to catalyst, new to star wars audiobooks so wasnt sure what to expect but I heard good reviews, about 2 hours in now and its not hooked me just yet, not sure if thats a good thing or not, still 9 hours left of story but im not feeling Star Wars like I do with the movies, which is something I was a bit worried about moving into books. Gonna plough on and see how it goes.

Got tickets for IMAX. No wednesday screening since friends wanted friday, but I don't care since... IMAX! It feels so great to have an IMAX screen in this country again. I know there's such a thing as lieMAX, so I'll have to track down what kind that screen it is.

Just hit Chapter 20 in Bloodline. Such a good read so far, this'll easily be the top of the new canon for me. Lady Carise just
listened to Bail Organa's message for Leia... so good.
