Star Wars Outlaws runs "pretty poorly" on the Switch 2 [Update] GWG: "I was wrong"

I honestly expected the Switch 2 to put out near identical versions of games for the first two years at least. Everyone praised its modern architecture and DLSS and here we are, this catastrophe of a port and Eldrn Ring looks like a mess too.
I agree that most buyers will just be happy about having those games in portable play but even portability is offering two hours of battery.
I'm honestly regretting my purchase.

I wonder what's up with the reactions on your post, it runs decently on my slim PS5 as well. SW Outlaws on the PS5 definitely runs far better than the CP2077 SW2 port that the Switch faithful like to point out as a good example of a 3rd party switch port.
720p with heavy use of FSR in performance mode, it sure runs like Cyberpunk on Switch 2

Not sure why people are claiming it doesn't run well on the other consoles, both the PS5/XSX have 99% locked 30/40 fps modes and the 60fps stays over 50fps all the time, well within the VRR window. PS5 Pro is basically a locked 60fps as well. Getting locked 60fps (or higher) on PC doesn't require a mega GPU either.

The Switch 2 simply isn't powerful enough to run an open world game with RTGI, same goes for the Steam Deck, it runs like shit on that as well.

Yep, that engine is quite efficient.

S2 is just not powerful enough.

its funny, cause I love seeing the damage control nintendo fans desperately rushing to these threads to try and save face

Current gen game launching on a last gen spec Switch 2. That's the issue.

Exact same issue that has going around since the Wii days.

For you young gamers who didnt play consoles back then, there was a time (Gamecube era and before that) where Nintendo actually tried competing on a good powerful system at $200. At that time, I dont think any of their consoles or handhelds were ever priced above $200. Yet they figured out how to make systems that went toe to toe with Sega, PS and Xbox at a bargain price.

Man how things changed the second they got a whiff of success with Wii.

all that 3rd party support will evaporate
That started in the N64 era, and it's got worse since. At least, some people can say N64 was logically out of the question due to cartridge limits.

When even port spammers like EA who'd release just about all their action and sports games on every console and PC, except Nintendo systems you got third party support problems (EA even made Nokia N-gage games). And it's not like their consoles sell so few units dont bother. Wii, Switch 1 and surely Switch 2 will all sell 100M+ units. And still a lot of third parties dont bother. Or they launch it 2 years later as an ultra gimped port.

A lot of these big publishers don't have enough experienced employees who know how to optimize, which is one of the primary skills of game development. But people will just blame Nintendo because of console wars.

Yet when there's a thread of a Switch 2 game that runs impressively or outright amazingly, e.g. WWE 2K25, APEX Legends, FF7 Remake Intergrade, wtf are you and the haters?

Right.

Lol, there's a bigger leap in power between Switch 1 and 2 than between PS4 and PS5.

The game is coming out in a few days so just wait, but yeah, I think this is true, specially coming from Ubisoft.

I don't know, man. They sold us a more powerful new console, and what we got is basically just a disguised Switch 1 Pro. It's not just Ubisoft. Almost all PS4 game ports run poorly or are badly optimized. And on top of that, this console has no games. Apart from emulating Switch 1 titles better (thankfully), there's nothing. It might be a bit early to judge, but right now this machine feels like a rip-off.
I really hope I'm wrong though. We'll see with the next Directs (and more games, hopefully).

I keep reading that (like also the fact that it released 5 years for almost a year), but is it really ?

I thought everybody agreed it was a game too big for last gen
I would say its somewhere in the middle.

It has lot of pop in. Also regular lighting is available. Both these have been upgraded in current gen.

Outlaws probably has regular lighting available, but it doesn't exhibits pop in, giving it a solid, stable look at faraway vistas that don't change as you move.

Are we going to have a thread for every time an unreleased port isn't running well during development?

We have several threads about GTA VI speculation being only 30fps, why we shouldn't have threads about games in current state, specially those who can be a warning for future buyers?

It's a portable device that's like a tenth the size of a PS5 and draws like a tenth as many watts, the laws of physics mean it is impossible for it to be as performant as contemporaneous home consoles.

It's just the nature of portable hardware that trade-offs have to be made, it's always been this way and it always will be.

People don't buy a Switch 2 for cutting edge graphics.

Yet we have people here jumping into every thread where there is the slight chance of negative Nintendo news, calling everyone who can enjoy playing with worse graphics and worse performance a Nintendo fanboy defending bad games and bad Devs.
Was it always this way and I just didn't notice or are they bread somewhere for this specific purpose of the console war?

That's just Nintendo Derangement Syndrome, it's been a thing since the 90s. For some reason, some people get really emotionally invested in hating on them, which seems kinda unhealthy to me, but hey, haters gonna hate.

They shouldn't have ported this game in the first place.
PC is the only way to play this game (couse of mods)
It's like Control on the Switch through the Cloud, the first real cloud game on the Switch (not counting Japan-only attempts like RE7 or Assassin's Creed Odyssey), at some point when your game doesn't sell anything you have to put it on all devices that have a screen.

There's literally nothing in the Switch 2 specs and released games that says "Switch 1 Pro", you're just trolling with this statement because there's no way it's just ignorance, the information is public

I'm not saying you can't have threads , I'm just saying that basing your buying choices, information etc on unfinished games is pretty pointless.
On this forum , these threads are mostly used by fanboys with their amazing "Switch 2 is weak" insights, I doubt many people here wouldn't just play Outlaws on another machine anyway.

Cringeworthy concern trolling.
Where are you in the threads with the reports of solid performance, such as FFVII Remake running better than PS4, in between PS4 and PS5, as any well optimised game should?

The console has been out a few months and has Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza with Metroid Prime 4 and Kirby's Air Ride coming out shortly.
How many first party exclusives did <your fave console> get in the first 6 months?
There's a Direct in a few weeks as well.

Is it me or are we starting to see an awful lot of "runs poorly on Switch 2" lately?
Elden Ring on handheld mode, and then we saw footage and it was okay (rumour has it the footage is a different build than the original reports). And this one but this one was a bit obvious since reveal, here below it looks like shit
