Star Wars Outlaws runs "pretty poorly" on the Switch 2 [Update] GWG: "I was wrong"

Cringeworthy concern trolling.
Where are you in the threads with the reports of solid performance, such as FFVII Remake running better than PS4, in between PS4 and PS5, as any well optimised game should?

The console has been out a few months and has Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza with Metroid Prime 4 and Kirby's Air Ride coming out shortly.
How many first party exclusives did <your fave console> get in the first 6 months?
There's a Direct in a few weeks as well.
I also just bought Harry Potter for Switch1 for like $13, added $10 for the Switch 2 version, and it's looking good. I think most of the weird stuff is the engine itself being wonky. That's the 3rd games I've been playing on the console, and it's only out for like 3 months.

Truth is, most games are not optimized and they rely on brute force to run.

I don't know, man. They sold us a more powerful new console, and what we got is basically just a disguised Switch 1 Pro. It's not just Ubisoft. Almost all PS4 game ports run poorly or are badly optimized. And on top of that, this console has no games. Apart from emulating Switch 1 titles better (thankfully), there's nothing. It might be a bit early to judge, but right now this machine feels like a rip-off.
I really hope I'm wrong though. We'll see with the next Directs (and more games, hopefully).
I must have missed the press release where Nintendo announced a portable PS5 Pro/Series X lol..

It's a portable device that's like a tenth the size of a PS5 and draws like a tenth as many watts, the laws of physics mean it is impossible for it to be as performant as contemporaneous home consoles.

It's just the nature of portable hardware that trade-offs have to be made, it's always been this way and it always will be.

People don't buy a Switch 2 for cutting edge graphics.
Some on here don't even buy one... But still want it to have cutting edge graphics. But can't be that concerned as their console will not produce the results of a ultra high end P.C setup.

Starwars is demanding but surely not runs at ultra high end setting on base consoles.

Are we going to have a thread for every time an unreleased port isn't running well during development?

The DF Cyberpunk benchmarks showed the Switch 2 performing between a PS4 and PS4 Pro. It's a 5X+ performance increase + DLSS. What kind of performance increase were you expecting?

Honestly would have been surprised if it would suddenly run fine.

Ran like dogshit on my PS5 Pro. The shimmering and flickering was killing the atmosphere, the gameplay was dull, the story horseshit. Hated myself playing this abomination. :lollipop_flores:

But hey - it kinda fits the situation. Why should the current game be any better than what ever Disney did with the franchise. There's some hope left for the KOTOR remake. But regarding the current state of Star Wars, I should just

I'm sorry, I know they've carved their niche out especially competing with Sony and MS, but Nintendo's games are TOO DAMN GKOD to be on the utterly shit hardware they've been giving us for a long time now.

Cmon Nintendo, one more time. Next console please on load power wise with PS6. Or better still go full 3rfd party. I'd love to see what Zelda looks and plays like on my ps5 pro.

My theory is this was rushed out due to the fact it's sales numbers ain't to hot to begin with. I still have high hopes that R* are able to put out a quality port of RDR2 OR GTA V on this thing.

Current gen game launching on a last gen spec Switch 2. That's the issue.

Exact same issue that has going around since the Wii days.

For you young gamers who didnt play consoles back then, there was a time (Gamecube era and before that) where Nintendo actually tried competing on a good powerful system at $200. At that time, I dont think any of their consoles or handhelds were ever priced above $200. Yet they figured out how to make systems that went toe to toe with Sega, PS and Xbox at a bargain price.

Man how things changed the second they got a whiff of success with Wii.
Wii, DS, and Switch sold far, far more than the likes of N64 and Gamecube. The market spoke.

Digital Foundry, who have more technical knowledge in their average dump than the trolls experts ITT, found that the Switch 2 was excellently designed, incredible efficient and were generally very impressed.
So, the "shit hardware" stuff is boring and dumb.

That looks fine? Doesn't look horrendous in the slightest.
Yepp, absolutely playable and - maybe, I didn't play the game yet - enjoyable unless you have brain damage or need the latest and greatest graphics. Others would suggest it's only playable if you don't have standards, but I'm still learning from the elites on gaf, so take it with a grain of salt.

Besides cyberpunk does every third party game run badly on the switch 2?
Street Fighter 6, Hitman 3, Hogwarts Legacy, Split Fiction and Yakuza 0 run good, FF7 Remake Integrade is said to be the best looking 3rd party game on Switch 2 so far, WWE 2K25 runs great too (but the port was made by Nintendo themselves)

It runs like shit on Ps5/SX too. It's another one of these 720p 45fps FSR smearfest games.
So this is hardly surprising.

Is it even a good game? Why bother about performance if it isn't?

Because as far as I know, this is the first "next gen only" third party game for the Switch 2 that we've seen actually running outside of a trailer or short clip.
Every other third party game like Cyberpunk, Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter, FF7 Remake, Elden Ring, Atelier Whatever, etc also released on Ps4/X1.

Seeing how a game actually designed for Ps5/SX/SS is running on the Switch 2 is going to be interesting regardless of the actual quality of the game. And it might be a hint of what to expect from future current gen ports.

Nah, Split Fiction was the first one, and Madden 26 since.

And Wil Hearts I guess

We had threads about the game's performance on other platforms last year when it released. I don't see why discussing performance for the Switch 2 is so strange or "fanboyish".
See below.
The Switch 1 Pro is struggling, what a surprise.
its funny, cause I love seeing the damage control nintendo fans desperately rushing to these threads to try and save face

Its a Nintendo product, everything runs poorly.

Switch 2 released with 10-year-old tech. What do you expect? Likely PS4 games will run well on it. Maybe PS4 Pro.

"Bothering" about performance is not "fanboy nonsense". You have demonstrated that games with bad performance get a lot more attention than games with good performance. That's the case regardless of platform.
The fact that people come running to shitpost when a thread has a negative headline and not when it's positive, is textbook "fanboy nonsense" so let's just agree to disagree.

while the raytracing quality looks pretty blotchy and unstable... I have seen worse looking RT GI on PS5... *cough* Lumen *cough*
Most Lumen is raster lighting with only RT for bounce lighting IIRC, I hope that with Switch 2 being pretty capable at RT (more than we expected due to the CPU) Epic devs finally drop old hardware support and start optimizing the thing for actual modern hardware
