Star Wars Outlaws runs "pretty poorly" on the Switch 2 [Update] GWG: "I was wrong"

He's working overtime since Bowser and Ocidax got banned.

Oh look, my stalker appeared, with nothing to bring to the conversation as USUAL

Sure buddy, you think that I somehow changed my posting habits because of giga or ocidax  I am participating on a forum like i've done for 21 years.

That's good news for Switch 2 owners. Hopefully bodes well for more multiplatform games coming out and in development. And hopefully Nintendo seizes that devkits nonsense so more third parties can bring their shit over.

More footage.

I have looked a few minutes at the footage and I can confirm it is definately using Raytracing for the reflections. Geometry is pretty dense, so they might or might not use some micropolygon tech similar to Nanite.

Framerate is much more stable than what we have seen previously. Seems solid so far.

This is a masterpiece of tech. Can't wait for the DF analysis.

I'm glad to see more handheld footage, though it honestly looks like handheld is running more stable than docked, Hitman worked that way too.

That said, could be the thing where the screen creates two of the same frame that makes it look smoother, though at this point is that really a bad thing? People though MKW was running at 120Hz because of it. Sounds like a feature to me.

I just picked up harry potter for 23$, gonna wait for a similar price for this.

Yeah, this has been upgraded from "eh, pass" to "wait for at least 50% off" for me, which, honestly, is better than I was expecting.

A lot of that is my nostalgia for Star Wars at war with the part of me that knows the core gameplay loop is going to be mid af.

Yeah, I don't like the sound of constantly being harassed by marauders when I just want to explore. :/

AAA != "The only third party support"

Even then they didn't want to miss the console and did the "impossible ports" trend.

And TBF, there are Japanese and indie games that completely skipped PS and went PC + Switch only initially.
Cool. So like, what can you play with your friends?

What's weird to me is so many console players crying for 30 fps after all these years they claiming it was good enough and whatnot. Now all of a sudden 30 fps is bad for them (it is for me, btw, but consoles are just that)

Totally agree. 30 fps today is still fine with me as long as it's locked and has good framepacing.

I've been fine with it since the PS1 and N64.

Me too, but that isn't that case for 90% of GAF in any non-Nintendo thread. And I find this to be weird.....

Good luck with that idiot.

Edit: the exact moronic thinking of a fanboy I mentioned in another thread. I mean, why the fuck would you even think about or want Sony to stop making PlayStation consoles?

I grew up with Nintendo. The NES and SNES for their time were fairly capable consoles that ran their games splendid on them. What's so wrong with that moron?

Also, I'm pretty sure Sony sold more than 12 PS5 pro's. But you seem to know everything. My apologies, I keep forgetting not to respond to morons.

You mad? You seething?

True. I'm one of the few here that pretty much only chooses quality mode, instead of performance.
Me too (y) 30fps is fine. If I'd play competitive multiplayer it would certainly be different, but I gave that up over twenty years ago with counter strike 1.6
I want to play games to relax and get away from people 👀

i desagree, a Nintendo home console powerful as a Sony MS machine with Nintendo exclusives as the cherry on top would a 100% hurt Sony and MS sales.
In what universe? Nintendo and home console sales are not exactly best friends.

Can you imagine the price of an actually powerful Nintendo home console? It would be over 1500$ with no controller included for Nintendo to keep the profit margins they are used to.

Did you catch last month's NPD (or Circana)? Nintendo up, everybody else down. This will start to be a re-occuring theme in the coming months. You can ruminate as to whether Nintendo has a handheld or a home console, and Nintendo will just keep swimming in dough.

You Nintendo fans are something else. N64 sold shitty GC sold shitty Wii U sold shitty. Wii sold for the original controller not surely because it was an home console. Why do you think Nintendo persist about hybrid handheld hardware? Because portable it's the only market where sell. But sure Switch 2 sold because it's also an home console lol.

I feel people forgot that what matters is stability and not just amount of frames. Hell 120+ frames is only really necessary for competitive games IMO. As long as the it's a stable 30 or stable 60, I'm fine.

You point was Nintendo dont sell home consoles i answerd, "what about Wii?"

You moves the gola saying that no one bought Wii for its hardware, thats was not the question, Wii was or not a traditional home console ?
You see? Nintendo fan always live in their bubble. You need to ask? Lol. Are you trying to say the Wii sold so well because it was a traditional home console? I'm not want to explain the obvious because seems almost insulting.

For the sake of argument, let's just agree with you and say it's a handheld. I'm not even talking about that. What I'm saying is there are only so many of these dollars to go towards video games that can be had, and Nintendo is sucking up the lion's share if you call the Switch 2 a handheld, home console, or hybrid.

Man, it was in response of your constant "Nintendo needs a powerful console" posting, you're not an AI that requires to be given context every amount of messages, I think it's pretty evident and I feel it's dishonesty to move the goal post like you just did

Never denied that. I'm just saying a powerful home console by them won't move a shit, furthermore I don't think they have the competence to built it. With all respect for their fans

Why do you think so? They've built powerful AND efficient consoles in the past, they're not making their own chips or reinventing the wheel, it's all existing tech just like PS and Xbox

Well, we do like good games. You never needed the best hardware for that.

I don't see where the challenge is to do less engineering with space for a big heatsink and asking Nvidia for a stronger chip? They have already done hard mode making handhelds which are more complicated?

Nvidia is designing for them now anyway with a turnkey solution including the API, development kit documentation and support.

Nvidia could make as powerful of a console as they would be tasked to design for 🤷‍♂️ It just doesn't interest Nintendo.

Who's designing and building their own chips these days though?

This is just silly, they have more experience designing hardware than anyone else and with Nvidia as a partner....
Agreed. Nintendo's Hardware R&D has been building and designing (console-specific) Hardware for over 3 decades now. If Anyone has experience in the game, it's Nintendo (now partnered with the minds at Nvidia).

This is definately the most technical impressive title on Switch 2 yet, by a wide, wide margin.

Cyberpunk while impressive is still a last gen game at heart and has too much compromises and has severe frame drops.

This has compromises too of course, but it is more reasonable and most importantly, it is a true current gen title with baked RT. And look at that amount of foliage it renders so effortlessly at a stable 30 FPS.

I'm speechless. Every journalist who jumped the gun reporting this port as bad because of an early build should crawl into the hole of shame, immediately.

But it is possible also that the demo they played was an old build and with performance issues.

Maybe the lesson learned here is to wait until devs are done cooking before making dramatic youtube faces, but eh, who am I kidding, that clickbait machine rakes in so much cash.

But I agree with you, this might be the new benchmark for Switch 2 over cyberpunk 2077. It streams in the data without the enormous hitches we saw on steam deck, so I don't know why they couldn't make CP2077 run smoother while driving.
