Has anyone mentioned the runtime? Fandango is showing 2hrs 16min. Longer than I thought after Kasdan's comments that the film would be shorter than most modern blockbusters .
That's about as long as Return of the Jedi.

2 hours and 16 minutes is the only runtime I've seen. The cinema I've booked with in the UK hasn't even put up a runtime yet.Has anyone mentioned the runtime? Fandango is showing 2hrs 16min. Longer than I thought after Kasdan's comments that the film would be shorter than most modern blockbusters .
Someone mentioned this in a vid but they had a point. Alot of shots just in the trailer alone felt like they were done without the same eye as George Lucas. Like the pat on the shoulder to Finn scene. Im actually pretty glad we seeing a more modern take on this series in terms of direction
The part that stands out to me the most in even watching just the trailers, not the full movie, is how Lucas always had his characters moving right to left, back and forth front shots when characters would talk.
Here, everything is so much more dynamic. My favorite shot of the new trailer is Poe walking by Finn and giving him that reassuring pat on the shoulder.
The problem with the PT Jedi is that they go from 'I can only protect you, I can't fight a war for you' to an army of spec-op commandos in a war that they really have no business in. The Clone Wars series is terrible in this regard, it was a cash grab that totally destroyed what Jedi were portrayed as in the OT. They were once a spiritual warrior-monk society that were 'guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy', and between the prequels and Clone Wars they turned into a militaristic order of disposable superheroes whose heads were stuck up so high their own asses that they couldn't see the forest for the trees.
The PT really destroyed everything good about Star Wars..

Can you please link to the advanced footage you seem to have seen on which you can further explain this thesis? That pat was a homage to Luke reuniting with Biggs on Yavin IV. Now Finn reunites with Poe. The movie is full of repetitions that I'm not sure I agree with. They may have done the same movie while trying to capture the same feel.

I'm sure it's been posted, but holy fuck:

"The Binks Awakens".
Absolute hysterics.
I want to see the longer scene in The Force Awakens that makes him so sure that the movie will be a rehash of the OT.he probably means this scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Kgl9gmtvZo

This would have been awesome if for no other reason than Obi-wan and Anikan's relationship would already have been established.

Sorry, thats just a so illogic jump to conclusion. I would bet money that Poe and Finn never meet before Finn, Daisy and Han arrive at Starkiller base.
This is actually a big reason why I'm glad I read the leaked synopsis/summary of the movie. Now I know pretty much the entire shape of the movie
I laughed loudly at citing "Ground fighting", "Spaceship combat", and "humans greeting each other in a hangar".
Might as well put "lightsaber duels" "spaceships" "robots" and "aliens with laser weapons", too.
spoiler alert: the new Star Wars movie will have many elements present in other Star Wars movies
Wow, Space Combat and ground fighting. Are you serious, this are you arguments? LolNot sure what you mean..
Desert planet
Backwater teen with something the Empire wants on the run
Han Solo and Falcon
Arrive at a site full of Imperials on special quest
Ground fighting
Spaceship combat
Flight to a forest planet
Meet buddy in hangar
Spaceship combat against superweapon
Even another Trench
I mean...
Its uncomfortable to me that the whole thing is in the exact same order plotwise. Whatever.
You don't know thatIts uncomfortable to me that the whole thing is in the exact same order plotwise. Whatever.
Wait and watch the fucking movie before you jump to conclusions. Or post the link to the torrent or whatever thing to did to watch the movie 2 fucking months before it played in cinemas. Because otherwise you make your pretty cool synopsis with incredible surprising elemts like "The Empire (which is not even the empire, its the fucking first order, man!)" is there and stuff like "people greeting" and "Space combats in a star wars movie" up for fucks sake. Its uncomfortable to me that the whole thing is in the exact same order plotwise. Whatever.

Oh shit. Star Wars out of ideas confirmed. I mean, there are also even people showing up.there's even a forest in this movie, which was an environment that were in other movies

Do you know that it is, or does it just seem to you that it's the case?
I mean, it's four minutes of footage we're looking at in total.
Aw yea the Dolby Atmos theater near me will actually show this in plain good ol' 2D.
You can't figure out homages, symbolism, motifs and all that literary shit from a total of four minutes of disjointed footage. Calm down.
It's not a real trailer until Harrison Ford is yelling at you in his Nasal Nerd voice.

Enjoyed the Full of Sith podcast on the trailer by the way.
Thanks! I lucked out by getting some really, REALLY good panelists. Tried to get Collins from Oxygen but couldn't get that hooked up.
It's not super in-depth, but then again, that's what the regular shows are gonna be for. I think Making Star Wars did FOUR HOURS on theirs.
