FUCKING insane.

I have no words for how beautiful this looks.

On one hand Abrams directed Mission Impossible 3 and Star Trek.

On the other hand he also directed Super 8 and Into Darkness.

The Star Wars film will decide which way the coin lands this time.

I'm not worried that it'll be a bad film necessarily, but after watching the trailers I've been wondering if I really want a Star Wars film made in the same style as blockbuster action films of today. A lot of the shots kinda rang hollow in the nostalgia department (not that it needs to, but I thought that was what the trailer was going for) and gives me a lot of the same feelings I had towards the recent Star Trek reboot -- entertaining (the first one anyway) but not memorable.

So is the narrator Luke's son AND red crossblade guy? That's what I took away from it.

like I said before..

Star Wars is too big.. There are a million other people involved JJ can't just run the show. He is there for directing competency but lucasfilm and everyone else is pouring their soul into this.

Hope so. That didn't quite pan out when Lucas was at the helm though. Of course, Abrams is in a very different position with significantly less power so I hope you're right. I just don't have that much faith the man will put out something I'll really love.

Exactly...the prequels were terrible because no one would say no to Lucas...JJ is in charge but not running the show completely

Hoping Boyega has a larger role, these teasers aren't filling me with hope:(
Are you serious? I actually thought he was quite prominent in the trailer. I didn't even know he was a major character before I saw this trailer. Looks like a lot of the cast is British too.

Yep, the thing is that this is a new recording with a different ending for the convo. He is speaking in the new movie with someone other than Leia repeating the same things he said 30 years ago.

it's exactly the same, they just flipped the "you have it too" line. Could be a new recording, but I think it's just the RotJ recording with some tweaking, since it definitely sounds like a young Mark Hamill.

Nah, that's Anakin's second lightsaber/Luke's first lightsaber. We saw it get lost in Cloud City, but I guess someone found it.

Let's hope they didn't find a hand clenched around it...
Luuke...

Fuck....

Masked bad guy is going to be an evil Luke clone, isn't it?

Super 8 was fantastic.

Is it too early to declare this a top 5 movie of all time (3 spots already reserved for the OG Star Wars movies)?

Because thats how I felt after seeing this trailer.

It was perfect. Don't tell me how awesome the trailers looked for the prequels and how shitty they turned out to be. This time it is going to be different!
Hey man, just keep on keepin' on

I dunno, that shot of Darth Vader's mask all beat up and mangled and the star destroyer was pretty darn memorable

Hey, I get why people like him. I just don't. His work is always uneven.

Also, you're overstating things a bit. His stuff is well received as a whole though, I'll give you that.

I'm not overstating anything. His work has received a massive amount of critical acclaim.

If it was Luke, why would he say "My father HAS it"?

Because Vader was alive in Jedi, and I believe this trailer is just lifting and using that dialogue from there. The trailer then seems to have one new line in it, perhaps from this film, or perhaps a line that won't even be in this film at all, but created just for this trailer.

Trailer shit doesn't have to come to pass in this film. Many bits of dialogue, or even whole shots get made/discarded just for trailer purposes.

Holy fucking shit that was better than I ever could have hoped

somewhere a nerd is like

"Bbbb....but the millenium falcon running from a single tie fighter on TATOOINE of all places?!"

i am the nerd
Probably a new pilot with no combat experience. He or she can't cut it, so they call back Han and Chewie, who remark how they're back home when they board the Falcon.
