Yep Star Trek and Lost were just plain terrible

Lost was plain terrible really. What a messy 'let's throw anything at the wall and see what sticks' show that was. It baffles me why it is so popular. Probably because people really believed everything was part of a plan, in stead of just mystery for the mystery.

The first Star Trek by JJ was great though, and in essence more a Star Wars then a Star Trek movie. Into Darkness was mediocre, but still showed that Abrams can do the space opera thing.

Also, I really liked Super 8, which shows that Abrams is pretty good in mimicing a certain style (even the plothole was pure spielberg).

So I'm really confident. I was pretty happy Abrams landed the directing job, and after those trailers I'm even more convinced. I just hope I don't leave the theatre al disapointed in december.

i find star wars boring but even i am hyped for this new film. the artistic style looks really good and the universe is interesting

haha

Yeah, same.
People keep saying the prequals had better lightsaber battles but I strongly disagree.
The original trilogy made them look like space samurai's fighting each other to the death while the prequels made it look like a couple of dudes with glow sticks doing a dance recital.
It looks bad. I hope they don't go back to the over the top shit.

LOL

So this Daisy actress;

According to her representative Jonathan Arun's site, Daisy is highly skilled at swimming and can also do: cycling, ice skating, pilates, pool, roller blading, running, and tennis.

According to her representative Jonathan Arun's site, Daisy is highly skilled at cabaret singing, jazz dancing, jazz singing, mezzo-soprano, & tap. She can also do some ballet and violin.

Not bad.

Dancing, tap and ballet -> Jedi confirmed

I look forward to the scene when Luke Skywalker is piggy-backing Rey while training her in the ways of the Force.

Something I missed my first watching: the sith and the storm troopers appear to be working in concert, or at least each attempting to fight the same target(s), and reacting at the same time to someone off screen. The fanboy in me hopes they're fighting off Han and Chewie and rebels, and then turning to face Luke Skywalker just as the tide of the battle is turning. Man I feel like a kid again discussing this movie after seeing Han and Chewie.

... could she be Luke's daughter? She isn't Leia's.

I know (at least I think I know) they are going in a Jacen/Jaina direction for this series... but damn that would be awesome

This could get awkward.

I just assumed they were both gonna be Jedi, it's not like there's some rule that you can only have one. The "Han Solo" of this trilogy is the X-Wing pilot guy.

Lost is really a great show that had to stretch the material for too long. Nothing quite like it on TV. Also enjoyed both Star Treks so I have faith in Abrams too.

I want this film right now.

Is there a thread for all the other stuff that you guys are talking about from Celebration, like the stuff on the floor? Or if not, where's the links because Theforce.net isn't very helpful - barely have any pics up.

People need to remember that JJ was involved in only the first season of LOST, and even still wasn't in that much control after the first couple episodes. LOST was always a Lindelof and later Carlton Cuse show. JJ was involved in the initial planning and convincing of studio execs to get the show going and the first season of LOST is fucking fantastic. After that all the original writers left, Cuse came on full time, and they all proceeded to make shit up introducing elements that would shock the audience but have no clue how it would tie together. LOST became a victim of its own hype and became more interested in gaining viewers than telling a story.

That singing talent is going to be super handy for the Star Wars Holiday Special part deux.

Guys please let us speculate on stuff, my habit from GoT threads makes me click every spoiler bar and now I see major plot points are already floating around Internet :(

E: Though I guess I'm whining. But it would be sweet to speculate on trailer material only *shrug*

I has a stupid grin on my face when I saw Harrison Ford as Solo. I haven't felt giddy like this after watching a trailer in years. Good god, I'm hyped!

I think the consensus is that
he's simply holding it until it's true owner gets it back.

Which is fucking lame as hell.

I don't care if he's a Jedi or not, you can have a badass character either way, but that sounds lame as shit.
I hope he isn't some intergalactic lightsaber butler.

I do think with that costume, he'd make a pretty nice Jedi though, kind of rogue like, Kyle Katarn style.
Instead of the traditional robes.

Promo art though does have Boyega's character with a saber.

This. Where is the idea that he isn't the potential Jedi coming from? I always figured that was the direction they were going in. If only from a story point of view of a stormtrooper trying to turn things around or forced into leaving the Imperials (the assumption I'm running on from both teasers) but instead becomes the thing he was perhaps trained and taught to fear and hate. Then there is the concept art with the lightsaber and him wearing the outfit in the trailer.

I know some people would be against the idea for reasons I won't get into because I don't want to toss that ugly on anyone here. The dismissing of the idea I've seen in other places has always bothered me in how it's talked about.

Considering Rey is being handed the lightsaber during Luke's VO about "having the force" its a foregone conclusion that she is a Jedi/the next Jedi. Boyega may end up being a force user but that doesn't seem likely.

Finn and Rey are supposed to be the main characters, and with Oscar Isaac being the new Han Solo Finn seems pretty useless if he doesn't become a Force user.

Err... Yes they were? I mean the new Treks were prequel trilogy SW levels of bad. Just irredeemable in all areas of production. I'm not gonna even touch Lost...

Lol the first Abrams Trek movie wasn't prequel bad and it's silly to say it was. Into Darkness I won't argue though.

Why do people think that's Rey?
It's a Luke voice over
He says my father has it, they show the Vader mask
He says I have it, they show Luke's mechanical arm
He says my sister has it, they show Rey? Nah that's clearly Leia
