Nah. It's not that, because I loved the story of the first game. BattleMonkey is the real Star Wars megafan around here, he knows what's up with the Expanded Universe and canon. I didn't even really think that much of the movies other than the space battles.

well you made the OT, I thought you were excited about it. but now you trashed it

and it couldn't possibly be the worst game you ever known

That's just my honest first impressions of the HD versions. As with any opinion, you should take it as applying to that person, and seeing how it applies to you.

I don't know if you would like it or not, you could find the short length great for replays, and the story a refreshing change of pace from the usual multi-planet quest other sci-fi games have you do. Plus, the graphics are very nice in a lot of places, even better than Uncharted 2.

"The story sucks! AND THERE'S NOT ENOUGH OF IT!!!!!!!!"

Those are two different complains from various posters. I never said it sucked, other people said it did. I said it was too short.

Maybe the short length is good if you didn't like it, maybe it's bad if you liked it.

another thing that gets me. One moment people are complaining about games being too long and the next moment these same people are complaining about games being too short. You can't have your cake and eat it people.

"do you actually have any gameplay impressions yourself to impart? any form of reasoning to contradict Willy's points?"

So that's a no then.

links? names? any evidence at all? I've always complained about games being too short. Never once being too long. And <5 hours (even games with multiplayer) get slammed.

they had the engine already made, a bunch of assets from TFU1 they could reuse and all they managed was 5 hours?

Who ?
I've read this argument so many times, but do you really think most people would like $60/70€ games to be 5 hours long?

I've complained about games being too long. (although not in this thread) But IMO that usuallly applies more to boring rpgs that have lots of filler.

I care more about quality than quantity.

I completely agree, but 4 hours is way too short. 6+ I can live with.

Ultimately I'd rather have a quality five hours with a game as opposed to 25 shitty ones, but at the same time there are so many games out in this fall, I have to be choosy.

I'm still undecided on buying the game, but I still have my pre order in. I'm hoping a review comes out over the weekend but I doubt it will.

Now I'm starting to get nervous about this game. If it's really only 4 hours, I'm not sure if I should buy it right now.

Geez, this game is going from "Getting the LE" to "Not sure if I'm buying" really fast.

:lol

I like 4 hour games during the holidays. Rent it, finish it in a day and that's that. Back to the other 15 games that are piling up.

To those undecided on buying the game...you could always, you know, rent it? That crazy thing where you play through the game in about a week while only spending $6-9 instead of $60?

Man, this industry sure has some people trained.

You can't rent games in most european countries. But if you're in the US, yeah that's probably the right call.

Just to clarify, I don't have anything against short games in general. I enjoy playing them, it's buying those type of games at full price that makes me aprehensive.

If I can GF a game and get almost everything i want out of it in a rental then id rather go that route.

The thing is, it's a game I'm really interested in and you get challenge levels for pre ordering, which I usually enjoy in these type of games. So it's a matter of missing out on content when I play through the game.

I hate that the industry has adopted this pre order bonus nonsense, but dammit if it doesn't work on me.

:lol

I have GF and going that route is definitely an option. I'm just undecided whether or not I want to support the game by purchasing it.

4-5 hours are fine IF the game is great and has tons of replay value. f.u. 2 seems to have tons of costumes to unlock and has challenge levels, which is cool. but i dont know about the game itself. the final bossbattle on the stream looked horrible.

Again, why the hell would you spoil an entire game for yourself by watching a stream of some one playing it online? its absolutely senseless.

Because you want to see if you might have fun playing the game?

I thought the first games story was bad, this doesn't sound to well, though it sounds kind of like a rush job to stretch out a trilogy out of this series.

I was hoping they would have made a sequel to TFU but had it set in a different time period and new character to have a fresh start, this whole clone starkiller stuff was pretty painful sounding from the get go.

Oh yeah. I expected this too. When I first saw the trailer for TFU2, I thought Luke Skywalker was going to be the star, due to Yoda being there too. But then Starkiller showed up, and I thought "that's not right".

If your main character dies at the end of the first game, it's dumb to continue the franchise with him still there because it cheapens the character.

The only issue I have with people that watch you tube videos and streams of games is when they join in a conversation and feel they can give a final verdict on a game they haven't even played.

That really grinds my gears!

you go tell the thousands of people who watch streams that. done trolling, fanboy?
Its ridiculous that people would willingly watch some one else play a game, spoil the story for themselves, and form the judgment that its a poor game just by what they watched. it makes zero sense. Watching a stream of some one else play a game to find out whether or not they will like it is a poorly conceived idea. Its like saying you want to listen to a movie over the phone to find out if its a movie you want to see. It doesn't work and people need to get the idea out of their heads that it does.

Nothing wrong with watching a stream for a little to see how the game plays, how the graphics look, etc. But literally watching the game from the beginning until the end is a bit much.

....you aren't supposed to see the whole thing. Just enough to see if you would enjoy it or not.

Tell that to the thousands that were saved from playing Sonic 2006 from this. What's more, Giant Bomb has become famous for doing the same thing.

With the Sequel Trilogy rumours coming out today, it totally makes sense as to why TFU3 was cancelled. They want to milk that sweet sweet trilogy video game overload money.

I doubt those rumors. Even if they were real, he still has Red Tails, the comedy Star Wars TV show, the live action Star Wars TV show, and Indy 5 to get out of the way first.

And Red Tails is taking forever.

Take for it what you will, but LFL responded already to the rumors saying they are completely false.

Also TFU3 development would have had nothing to do with a new trilogy of movies that would likely not be seen till 2015-2016 at the earliest if they were to begin work on them after the 3D film rereleases coming in 2012, as in the rumor.

I don't believe the rumor really, but only thing I could see is that because of the trouble with the live action show's budget, that Lucas will get the idea of just doing more movies instead of bothering with live action TV.

Really if he scraps the live action tv series, he should consider doing it in CG like Clone Wars and perhaps make it a follow up to when they eventually end the Clone Wars.

Seems like the DS version is also very different than the original.

The controls look like they add a lot on the Wii version but man I hate what they did to the visuals. That art does not suit the game at all. Hell, I think the original might even look better and that was multiplatform with PS2/PSP.

Yeah, it looks very empty. Ironic, although Force Unleashed 1 Wii was graphically hindered because it also had to be able to run on the PSP, it seems like only having it Wii exclusive caused to the team (which is a different one from the previous game, it seems) to give less graphical touches into it compared to the first game.

But at least they did add a lot to the gameplay.

I'm on the fence with this one. I've got 40 bucks of Kmart gift cards and I can get the game for basically 20 bucks plus another 20 dollar gift card for buying it.

I'm thinking of buying it and just sitting on it until they release enough DLC single player levels to make it worth it.

But then again, I may just hold onto the gift cards until the new Call of Duty hits in november.

5 minutes of Sonic 2006 should have been enough to tell people to stay the hell away. I think that people who stream an entire game over the internet before its even out are the worst. It honestly shouldn't be allowed at all, but how would one go about enforcing this? its near impossible to do so.

It's odd you feel this way. It's like saying it's the equivalent of watching a whole pirated movie online. It's not.

You don't get the game experience by watching somebody else play it, unlike with movies. Whether watching somebody else play it makes you want to buy it or not want to buy it, it does not rob you of the game experience.

Gameplay videos have been a big way of knowing what a game is like since the beginning, should the game publishers/developers sue every game website out there, except those that only show what a publisher wants them to show?

You have to understand games and movies are very different things. You watch movies, but you play games. Watching somebody else play it is not playing it yourself.

GameInformer first review

from metacritic:

A shadow of its former self. The graceful gameplay offers a higher level of excitement, but the plot and characterization - two large components from which I expect great things from any Star Wars journey - makes this experience one of 2010's biggest disappointments.

isn't that the 7.75 review?

story isn't a gamebreaker for me in a Star Wars game. it may make me snort in derision but gameplay and content is what matters. so 5 hours will be a gamebreaker if true.

I finished the game tonight and thought it was incredible from beginning to end. One of the best gaming experiences I've had this year. Is it a little short? Yes but I had so much fun with it that I definitely plan playing through it again on the unleashed difficulty. Calling this one of 2010's biggest disappointments is a complete joke in my eyes. The game is incredibly polished with no slow down. It's also one of the prettiest games I've ever played and it's just flat out fun. I think that's something important that slips people's mind when playing through a game. I don't need a game to be 20 hours to consider it great. I guarantee had this game been made around 12 hours people would've complained about repetitiveness. It's sort of a lose lose situation. Either way, I absolutely loved it and can't wait to play through it again

Yes, chris, spill the beans. Some of us are on the fence.

Also, has anyone heard if extra single player levels will available via DLC this time around?
