Star Wars THE FORCE UNLEASHED 2 |OT| You can use TWO lightsabers now

5 hours isn't a problem for an action game.

5 hours is a problem for any game that only has about 4 different areas which are all super linear, and a story that doesn't make sense and goes nowhere for those 5 hours.

The most lolworthy was "I don't understand myself I gotta go to DAGOBAH" wtf?

in the star wars movies wasn't yoda suppossed to be like hiding there? I'm not the biggest star wars geek but I seem to remember that there weren't exactly signs plastered all over the planet advertising "YODA'S JEDI MASTER OUTLET".

Plus when he gets there it's like you walk down one corridor, watch a cutscene, and leave. And nothing happens. Kinda like the rest of the game.

Well the Yoda thing is on the back of the game box and in lot of the marketing. Course spoilers I guess are that theres nothing to it other than a glorified cutscene.

Almost done with the game.

I honestly love the story elements and soundtrack that make the game feel very official.

Imagine a Luke Skywalker game based around Jedi Academy mechanics...on this engine.

The shit would sell like fucking hotcakes.

Did you know Halo invented the FPS?
Ugh I'm so disappointed in this game. I literally fell asleep for a few minutes while doing the Salvation ship stage. It just went on and on and on with endless soilders/mechs -_-

Everything about this game was a rushed, unfinished cash in. Why should the PC version be any different?
I think the tech behind it was given quite a lot of care and thought. It's one of the best looking games of the year and there is virtual parity between the two closed platforms..you dont do that without serious effort. But everything about the game you play seems to have been an afterthought. Someone mentioned the developers for this were fired, is that true?

Since the first TFU game was released part of that team was fired, the president Jim Ward quit, his replacement quit, 80 people were let go from the TFU2 team, and lead producer/writer Haden Blackman left to form his own company.

Maybe they will have to out-source the next game to Ravensoft. The combat in JK2/JA was godly and the lightsaber combat had actual depth. Oh yeah they didn't make 4 fucking hour games either. God the decisions made when designing TFU2 make me so sad.

They should just re-make the whole Super Star Wars trilogy with this engine.

Yeah. But not the gameplay engine. Maybe something less physics based and more stable. That way it allows for better action (can't have Super Star Wars without good action).

I was super excited about this game, being a huge Sam Witwer fan, but all the reports of it only lasting 5 hours are really putting me off. I don't want to lay down £40 for 5 hours of entertainment even if Sam Witwer is the hottest thing alive.
Yeah, but think about it this way - TFU2 is like Sam Witwer lasting 5 hours.

Anyway, beat it, had a lot of fun with it, too short. I'm having fun with the challenge maps, but yeah, nowhere near enough gameplay for the money. The hinted-at
Endor DLC
sounds awesome.

So, in conclusion, TFU3 by Platinum Games. Do it Lucasarts.

I came so VERY close to buying this on Wii today. I ended up going with A Shadow's Tale instead, which has been AMAZING so far.

I'm still considering picking up the Wii version of Force Unleashed 2 though, if only for the awesome-looking multiplayer mode. Maybe I'll wait for the price to come down a bit first.

I went with the Wii version due to the Smash Bros Multiplayer. Plus, I liked the first one better on Wii.

I think the Wii version is longer cuz it seems to take along time to get through a level. 45 min to 1 hour per level. I gotta ask, was the demo the full first level of the 360/PS3 versions? If so, the Wii version is at least twice as long.

Bad thing is it can get mundane as you go a little further and hit another wave of enemies. At least you got upgrades from combos and you can add different colors and powers to your lightsabers. But where's the ability to change costumes? That's what I liked in the first game.

The Wii Dagobah level actually has some gameplay in it. It's mostly just run forward, but there is a tricky platform spot and a fight area.

You basically have infinite lives. If you die, it asks you to restart and take you to your last checkpoint. However, any enemies you killed or weakened remain in the state you left them. It's like you never died.

Overall, even in this version, the first one was better. This one was a total cash-in and the plot is proof enough. If they do another one, it has to be an all new cast. No more Starkiller.

Beat this in one sitting and while short, I had an absolute BLAST! Way bettter then expected and enjoyed it much more then the first. Crazy I know but honestly, I will buy this when it hits the cheap bins.

Though did anyone notice once you beat the game and go to the cinematic playback, there are a shit ton of cinemas still locked.... whats up wth that? DLC confirmed?

You unlock the extra cinematics through the Challenge maps, they seem to be storyboards with voice overs and not fully animated and rendered cutscenes.

Just finished it a couple of minutes ago, and like many others i felt like the game was a huge disappointment. The game is running much better than TFU1, but is worse in every other aspect. So many of the combo's are gone, the story goes nowhere, there are few locations, and the boss fights, or should i say lack of boss fights, disappointed me the most. I did have some fun with the game, but i felt like it could have been so much more. I will probarly trade this one in on monday, and buy the Sith/GOTY-edition with all the DLC when it eventually gets under 18£.

Thanks for the impressions! I hope you're willing to answer a few more questions. :D

Does the multiplayer mode allow for computer controlled characters? How many characters are there to choose from including ones you can unlock? And how many stages are included to fight on?

After all the impressions, I'm glad I canceled purchasing this game.

I preordered it a month ago. Went to pick up the game yesterday, but the EB Game staff said that they ran out of the Maulkiller costume code, I was WTF, I thought that's a guaranteed if I preordered. They said no, that's first come first serve. Then FU, what's the point of preordering if you can't guarantee the bonus.

Then I canceled all my other preorders with them.

Yep and its the reason I'll be trading in the game since I have no interest in playing the story mode again.

Just started it this morning, had two hard-locking bugs in about 20 minutes. yay.

Noticed that three of the costumes (training gear, the dark apprentice, and the jedi robes) from the DLC levels for the first game showed up in the costume menu. Very cool of them. Might be old news but I only just found it. Do any of the other DLC costumes show up? I never bought the costume packs as they seemed kind of expensive for what you got.
Stallion Free said:
True. I rage gave up on the hard difficulty in TFU1. I couldn't even get past the first battle of the Jedi Temple DLC on the hardest difficulty.
I have tfu1 sitting at 100% complete. Sure it was hard, but I had a lot of fun doing it. Weird how I could sit through it for that game but other ones like GOW make me want to kill something.

Bought this yesterday, just because I'm a sucker for Star Wars. I enjoyed TFU1 and I'm also enjoying this one so far. As usual, I just set it to easy and have fun blowing everything up and throwing enemies everywhere. The level architecture looks great, the grapple moves are cool, and the new breadcrumb feature is nice.

The game just provides destructive mindless fun with Star Wars music in the background, and that's all I wanted out of it really.

Rented this earlier this week, and boy am I glad I tried before I bought. This game has some nice tech behind it, but that's about it. First off, it's incredibly short and linear which is never a good combo. Secondly, the camera is a broken POS. I dunno how many times I died because the camera wigged out in the middle of a big battle. There is only one (really weak at that) lightsaber duel in the entire game. Combat feels generally unsatisfying, repetitive, and shallow. The animations are awkwardly bad in some of the cutscenes. Oh and the story line feels like it was plagiarized from a basement dwelling Star Wars fanfic writer who could never quite figure out why "George won't give him a chance". One of the biggest disappointments all year. It really feels like the devs didn't give a shit when they were making this game.

Bought it on ps3(i have tfu1 on 360), got 84% trophies, managed to change it for the x360 version. And yesterday i got all the achievements. Overall 360 version is better, for me it had a lot less glitches and ingame graphics seemed a little bit sharper. What the ps3 version has better is the quality of the cgi movies, probably due to the blueray. And possibly motion blur. I would like Lucasarts to announce the dlc already.

Those aren't the dlc costumes from part 1, they are the costumes you get by finishing both light and darkside ending. Except the training gear, that you just get if you have a tfu1 save file.

Except I haven't beaten the game yet. The sith apprentice is from the last two DLC levels while the Jedi robe outfit is from the first one.

If you are talking about the sith stalker outfit then no it's not from the dlc. Neither are the
sith training Gear and ceremonial jedi robes. You haven't beaten force unleashed 1? Well then i can't tell you how you got those outfits, but they are definitely not from the dlc. Ceremonial jedi robes, lightside ending tfu1. Sith stalker armor, darkside ending tfu1. Training gear, just have a save file of tfu1.

Also, I thought you meant TFU2, not 1.
No problem:D.

Bout half way through this, been playing for about 2 hours. Really enjoying the gameplay, although they could have a few more different combos and the like. I still feel like a totally badass jedi warrior as I lightsaber stormtroopers and crush TIE Fighters with the Force.

The story is, for lack of a better word, shite. It just feels so tacked on. Almost like they basically said "alright we need some bullshit story to justify running around blasting shit with the force".

I am enjoying it though, the gameplay is fun. Just wish there was a lot more to the story.

Just beat this game yesterday, I liked it overall, was kind of short though.

FYI I'm selling it in the "Buy, Sell, Trade" thread for $42 if anyone here hasn't picked it up yet, just PM me if you're interested!

Let me know if I can mention that I'm selling it in this thread and I'll gladly take it down!

Out of curiosity who else would you have wanted Starkiller to duel? Going by the game and movie canon the only other known Jedi and Sith are Vader, the Emperor, Yoda, Obi Wan and Maris Brood (from TFU1). Since Starkiller is
a Jedi this time around, you're not going to be fighting Yoda, Ben or Maris and if he fought the Emperor again people would have whined about it destroying the canon of the movies
. And it's not like you never fight another opponent with a lightsaber
since you get to fight waves of messed up clones
.

I'm at the part with the
Gorog
. The first half of the battle I was thinking, "Man, this sure is easy for playing on Hard." That's because I didn't know there was a second half of the battle. Got there and just saved so I could tackle it later.

The game gets progressively cheaper for the last half of the game. Fuck instakills from offscreen.

Just started but since the game is hella short I'm on Level 6 right now.
The game is fun but the
Balrog or whatever it's called
was glitchy as shit.

And it's pretty stupid everyone and their brother
knows where Yoda
is.

It's already plenty cheap; you mean it gets worse? The first level after you fall from the window and run into storm troopers I died like 15 or so times before I could make it out of there with a sliver of health. It was crazy.

There's a level where you have to fight three waves of enemies with no savepoints in between. First wave is reasonably easy, two lightsaber guys and ~10 troopers. The second wave has two rocket AT-STs and one of those big grenade AT-STs and ~10 troopers. Also the second wave can trigger at random points where you may or may not have cleared the first wave AND it triggers an unscippable cutscene where you are stunned and the enemies from previous wave are not stunned and can seek cover. The third wave adds an another batch of troopers, some AT-STs and a sniper trio that can oneshot you.

Oh and when you die you have to watch a 30s unscippable cutscene.

AND the whole bloody place is filled with explosive crates that on hard take 1/3 of your life away, the missiles from AT-STs track behind pillars and even if they explode on a pillar you will get damage if you stand close to the pillar.

Kota didn't know where he was, he just randomly named some planets. It was the force that urged Starkiller to go there and even Starkiller didn't know who he was.

Don't quite understand what the problem here is. Tfu1 was a 1000times more cheap and finishing it on SithMaster was a lot harder. Tfu2 on Unleashed was a piece of cake compared to part 1. Helped greatly with that your upgrades are carried over to the higher diffeculty.

I suppose but it's kind of a hacky nostalgia trick.

And haven't played FU2 on Unleashed yet but the first game was *amazingly* cheap.
So far on Hard, everything that I've encountered has been easier than the first game, holocrons and stuff like that included.

It would have been nice if they had mentioned her in the sequel. Right now her character only exists so they could give the player another boss fight in the first game.

Yeah i agree. But having the dlc for tfu1 i'm really glad they didn't go that route. Which was
so humiliating for the characters Luke,Obi and Boba Fett. All were made bitches for Starkiller to kill or turn. No thanks.

About the cheapness, no doubt. Tfu1 was super cheap, the only way i got through Sith Master was by equally playing supercheap against the cpu. Tfu2 for me really was a walk in the park compared to part 1.

Yep, I actually just replayed that fight in TFU1 this morning--I had completely forgotten about her character and it seems the writers did as well. :lol

TFU2 is super easy, too much so. I mean I realized I didn't even bother with combos and found it easy, you can beat the game just tapping the attack button without issue. In TFU1 at least I had to make use of various combos to stay alive.

Maris Brood was left hanging, and the fight with Vader was awful. Vader does nothing but stands in place and calls forth dude to fight you pretty much with a random swing everyone once in a while. He also just lifts his saber to block randomly. In TFU1 they had scripted lightsaber sequences even that triggered to make the fights look more dynamic at least. The fights all around were much more fun boss wise.

The clone angle could have been played up more with clones with lightsabers and of course
the perfect sith clone Vader apparently has sitting in the wings should have made an appearance
.

The first game also brought on saber fights using proxy, something similar could have been done. Even so it's not so much an issue of lightsaber duels as much as the boss fights just sucked balls. Random big things you fight, which are all just pattern memory fights.
