If the information on the website of the shop I ordered my copy is correct, it will arrive around 15.12.

I'm just waiting on the inevitable extended grace period. You know it's going to happen. The only thing a bit strange is the whole email of the day you're suppose to get in early access. No early email to tell you what day you're in.

Yeah the early access e-mail coming the day of is silly. Hell we have seen how many e-mail fuck ups they had just trying to get beta stuff out, here is to hoping this goes smooth.

I am waiting for the mass email to go out on the 13th for everyone and then complete customer support meltdown when everyone calls to ask why they can't log in.

I tried reading the past ten pages, but I just got so annoyed with seeing the same questions asked repeatedly. And the whining! So, Early Game Access starts on 13th @ 7am, goes until 10pm on the 19th, and it's staggered entry based on chronology of pre-orders. Also, no grace period according to the FAQs, but during conferences devs had stated that may change. Other than that, did I miss anything?

Also:

I want the CE but it's so much money wasted on a statue. Enjoy your fucking mouse droids, ashholes.

Oh, I will.

Man I was going to log on and wish SWG a warm goodbye, but now they moved early-access to a day before the shutdown. :(

I think the email coming on the day you get access makes sense. That way you won't have thousands of people hammering the server at the same time because they knew about it in advance. If there is advance warning of your entry time then the servers will be slow and crowded.

Hmmm, got two copies of the CE today in the mail, but i cant finish the install correctly. When it asks for disc 3 it just stopped and prompts to re-insert the disc.
Tried with the other disc from our second CE but got the same problem there. Gonna try and reinstall, anyone else got this problem?

You in the US Canada or EU?

Alot of people are going to be trying to sell their Malgus statue during the launch, so I wouldn't bother as the prices are going to go to crap. Hold onto them till the initial stock diminishes and the value of them should go up. GG statues of that size usually go for about $80, so down the line you possibly will be able to get around that much for it unless it really ends up being limited enough that collectors will pay through the nose for it. Unlike alot of CE statues for games, the Star Wars fans should keep the future value of the statue fairly high, just don't try to sell it right away.

Wait, you got yours in the mail already?

Lucky guy. Too bad I can guarantee Canadian retailers won't send it out early =(

I got an email about preloading the release client but was wondering if thats necessary since I still have the most recent beta build on my desktop?

This is why someone needs to add this info to the main post =p

From the SWTOR forums.

"If you have played in our game testing program at any point from November 25th onwards, you will not need to re-install the game client, as you should already have the launch version installed.

To verify that you have the launch version installed, you can check for the "assets_swtor_main" version file in the following location on your computer: \Program Files (x86)\EA\BioWare\Star Wars – The Old Republic (assuming default installation). If you have that file present, you do not need to reinstall the game client."

Pre-loaded and ready to go.

Was in the beta from March through the end, and still excited. Loved seeing the game progress from the crappy state it was in back in March to the final build. Didn't play as much near the end, after seeing my characters wiped multiple times I just couldn't handle watching my level 40 something characters deleted again.

To all the people complaining about no grace period I ask this. When exactly would you be able to play if there was no early game access? Thats right, not until you get your copy of the game. So you are getting up to a week to try the game prior to ever giving Bioware a dime, just for preordering, and you are still complaining? This is crazy. When can you play any other game that comes out? When you buy your copy. This game gives you a week free some of you whine.

People really do defend anything.

Warhammer Online tried to pull the whole no grace period thing, but the community roasted them for it. They cried mea culpa before the game's official release date and gave people a week.

And the sense of entitlement amongst some gamers is ridiculous.

Game releases on the 20th. You get to play it early if you pre-ordered it. If you don't pick up the copy on release day, you don't get to play it again until you do.

Makes sense to me and that's how it works for 99% of games on the market. And with those you don't even get early access.

I would have loved a bit of a grace period too to try it a little longer before I buy, but that's what Early Access is for.

Not being able to play a game you don't own yet is not that hard of a policy to defend.

Considering almost every MMO with early access has a grace period and the fact that months ago they said there would be one, and the fact it's releasing during the busiest mail time of the year... no excuses. It needs a grace period.

Early access is a marketing bullet point, it's not like they're not showering you with their benevolence by allowing us slovenly mortals to access the servers early. :p The best way to handle early access is to not do it, it's so obnoxious and this has got to be the worst handling of it yet.

Shoulda just shipped out early or just had everyone wait until the 20th. Meh.

Did you miss the part where the said there WOULD be a grace period 2-3 times? There would be zero compaints if not for that fact. Obviously some people take it too far in their rage, but it's still annoying.

The fuck!?

How big is this launch?

It should be a fairly big launch, but the owner of the business my GF works at is the guild leader and they got over 200+ members. Most of those in the local office are guild members so hes closing that day for the launch lol. There business is not really affected by holiday sales and such so they can close and not really care about time of year. The 2-3 employees not part of the guild are gonna stay behind to do some repair work lol

It's standard operating procedure for a MMO. They're going back on their word which screws people up who had planned around the grace period. They're releasing on the busiest mail week of the entire damn year.

You know what? I might have been fine with it if they could atleast say that Amazon would be allowed to do release date delivery or ship early but they can't even do that. Some people are reporting on the forums that Amazon isn't even GETTING the game till the 20th.

They need to do a grace period, this is bad form. Period.

The grace period isn't really for 'trying before you buy'. Anyone that's in the early access has should have already committed money towards the game (whether it be a pre-authorized transaction or a full payment in advance). If you have early access for an already cancelled order I'm pretty sure you have no logical basis to care about the grace period at all.

For all intents and purposes, the game releases on the 13th. They aren't doing "early access" out of the kindness of their hearts. They're doing it because it's necessary for them. The best way to get an MMO rolling is the stagger the player-base in. The last thing they want is 2 millions people all logging in at the same time. Pretty much every MMO since WoW has done it this way, and they had grace periods. Nobody is asking for a free pass, just a few reasonable days to actually get a hold of their copies. I don't get why some people are insistent that this is some type of charity on Bioware's part. I'm personally not that invested in the game, that a couple days of being locked out will kill me, but I don't understand how people are defending this.

Wow I can't believe this game is less than a week away for people who preordered. For a while there (well, a couple years ago anyway) I was thinking doomed vaporware.

If it launches as smoothly as Rift, I might pick it up first week, otherwise I'll wait for the traditional MMO first month shitstorm to clear before I jump in.

After trying the game, I'm confident I'm going to enjoy at least playing alone, but I'm even more sure now that what's going to make or break this game is patch frequency and customer service.

Exactly, versus someone like me who is.

I preordered a physical copy for about $35 during a sale awhile ago, and when they announced a grace period, I knew that keeping my physical copy would be fine and I wouldn't bother with a DD.

Now, I have to either order a DD and hope that I still get the same amount of early access if I do this, or go out at midnight in freezing cold weather and hope that I don't miss any play time. (Hoping the server maint they say they're doing at midnight lasts longer than expected.)
