Give it a month or two and there will be the ability to buy into the store. EA can't help themselves. They enjoy money.

They had the VIP in-game store pass on sale on vendors in Capital Ship cities for 1,000,000 credits. So the items are already in game, just as vanity items for everyone else.

Though yeah, I wonder what they'll do with micro-transactions, too.

So I'm still running XP on one of my machines and it says that it can't be installed, but I can continue to install it anyway. Does anyone know if it will still load up?

Wait, for real? If so, I'm relieved I didn't buy the CE.

Can someone explain what you are talking about when you are referring to 'grace period'? And does it apply to me? I pre-ordered the regular digital edition from Origin within minutes after it went on sale and I input my code.

They shut off Early Access for everyone without a retail box code at 11:59pm CST on the 19th. So until you get your copy; you can't play.

EVERY other MMO that did a head start gave people at least three days to input their code.

You're golden, basically people who ordered a boxed copy will be locked out of the game until they get the code that comes with the game.

A grace period is basically a "free period" of game time until you are forced to put in the retail key and pick a subscription plan. It's mainly for the people who order the game online and are waiting for it to be delivered.

Basically since people are getting early access for the game, the grace period is referring to the amount of time a person has to input their retail/digital cd-key of the game in order to continue playing.

People want a longer grace period because they may have purchased the game through a website, and it may not arrive in time for launch day thus locking them out of the game until they get their copy.

You should be safe since you got the digital version.

FFXIV just shipped all the CE copies of the game earlier because they were the ones granted early access. But yeah, this is different as it applies to all pre-orders, and isn't distinguished by SKU. I actually don't get why they don't ship pre-orders early if this is the case, and then still actually release them in stores on the launch date.

I just got one (ToR) from Amazon with launch-day delivery, and since i'll have a lot of free time, this short break is nice because I usually go to sleep at like 4AM anyways.

It installed just fine on my XP machine. Haven't ran in from there though, so I can't say if the game will run or not.

The VIP passes only give access to the VIP lounge - NOT to the CE store. This has already been clarified by Bioware.

A grace period is normally is used when a game has a head start. People will be playing on the 13-19th but on the 20th they will lose access to the game till they input the code that came with the game. This punishes people who had the game delivered instead of using a brick and mortar or digital download copy. Basically anyone who doesn't manage to get their physical copy by 12:00am on the 20th will be locked out of the game. Even though they already preordered/paid and had been playing the game already.

Every game I've gotten headstart access in (Rift, Champions Online) gave a 3-7 day grace period for people to receive their copies in the mail and enter their codes.

For those asking about midnights at GameStop. I doubt it will happen considering its the week of Christmas and the week is already insane as it is. Not saying it won't happen, but I haven't heard a peep yet and we're not that far out.

Probably has been answer already, but I'll ask again. How do you switch from the standard digital edition to CE digital edition? Way back, you had to create 2 different account / email. Does it mean I have to play with standard edition (without CE items) during the early start until I enter the CE code when I get it?

The SE and CE pre-order codes are the same. You don't any CE items until you actually put the game key in.

Just a heads up to those still hunting for CE -- SCH Gamer (the K-Mart rep for CAG) confirmed that some K-Marts (not all) will be getting some stock. You get that coupon when you order from K-mart too so that might take some of the sting out of buying it (not much, but a little).

Now I'm debating if I want to pick up the CE or just let my standard edition Pre-Order from Amazon ride. I have Prime so I should receive it on the 20th either way.

Lol, people are filing complaints with the BBB.

I mean sure, people may not like it, but if they don't actually physically own the game in your possession, I see no reason to give you a free game for a few days after launch when you could just return it and essentially play their game for free for a little over 1 week.

Early access is early access. When the game officially launches, you shouldn't be able to play unless you actually own the product, because then it's no longer a period of early access, It's the actual live release of the game. Hell, Amazon is still doing free release-date delivery, so at the most people would have to wait like what, a little over 12 hours from midnight to play?

Also as far as the grace period goes, did they ever actually outright say that they're 100% doing it? From what i've always read, they never actually released a FAQ detailing early access policy till this week. I've never seen it in the listed questions section ever, either.

Amazon is not doing release-date delivery for some people with CEs(me included). The earliest I can do is the 22nd. Then there are people in the red zones who might have to wait till after Christmas/January.

Yes they did. Reid stated sometime in August that there was going to be a grace period of unknown length. The joke being that the period was 0 days.

I would have liked a grace period but I think I'll live. I preordered this from a store so it's really no issue in the end.

It really depends on how long the maintainance lasts at Midnight on the 19th. If it's a few hours and I have time to go freeze my ass off outside FS or BB waiting for the midnight release and I don't lose any playtime, that's fine. It will suck to have to go out, but whatever.

Otherwise, if I lose playtime, that will suck. I'll have to bolt back from the store in order to not lose much =/

I have the CE on order from Amazon, one-day shipping and its listed for me as estimated delivery on December 22nd. I'm still being charged for $9.98 shipping. I heard some people gettting .99cents delivery on one-day so I'm fixing in couple days to call up Amazon to see what deal is.

I'm excited. At first I was going jedi Consular, but after playing Smugger Scoundrel I enjoyed its playstyle a lot, I just intenstly hated the quests on both starter and Corusant being a freedom fighter was not exactly being a smuggler. Nor was the class quest afterwards. It certainly did not fit the image of a scoundrel more of a gunslinger. I guess my problem is expecting different class quests for the advanced classes.

What? Han Solo was basically a freedom fighter. Hell, the lore of the smuggler in this game is one of a freedom fighter. If you're on the republic's side, you basically are one. Or situations force you to be one.

I have to work the 20th so it's all the same to me.

I was notified and told I was getting release day delivery of my CE months ago since I ordered the CE the first day on Amazon. Are they still going to honor this for those who ordered soon enough?

Lol, people are filing complaints with the BBB.

When are people going to learn that the BBB is a completely powerless organization.
