Star Wars: The Old Republic |OT| EA: "Let's blow this thing and go home!"

It would ideal if they just did seperate ability functionality for pvp and leave pve alone as is for the most part. You gave stuff like guard pvp specific functions, do it for the rest of game abilities. Nerfing will always piss someone off, at least leave the pve aspect alone, toss in some new ability text to explain how it works different in pvp.

One thing liked about DCUO was how almost every ability had it's unique pvp funcitonality that was different from how it worked in pve.

They don't really need to nerf the healing, they need to nerf the power of their swiss army knife nature. They can just pretty much everything . They are awesome healers, then give them actual weaknesses and take away from other aspects.

I find it ridiculous how three people can just be attacking them at once and they can just heal through it like nothing. Shouldn't their casting be effected by this kind of thing? That would be an easy fix, make it so normal attacks have a chance to interrupt. Isn't this how it works in 99% of MMOs?

They have a specific talent in the tree that eliminates pushback while they're healing.
You have to interrupt them or knock them back.

It may have to do with EA having opened retail stores in some states, that may be triggering the tax. It's similar to how Amazon collects internet sales tax in states that they have a physical presence in. It's federal law.
It's not federal law with Amazon. I have an Amazon distribution center 30 minutes away and there's no tax.Amazon first made a deal where they didn't have to collect tax but people bitched and the new deal is start charging in 2014. All state level negotiations.

Similarly, 7 states decided to tax online subscription-based services (the reason 7 states have tax on WoW subs) excluding Tennessee.

As far as EA goes, I do not see any EA presence in Tennessee.

So before I logged tonight I decided to consolidate all the possessions of my toons on Kellers void as I play on the harbringer and soon the aussie servers. Whom in the guild should I send the stuff to? or would you prefer me to wait until guild bank is implemented and deposit in there?

I was just referencing this article, which is mistaken then. I tried to find a list of EA Sports stores, but the only confirmed one I could find is in NC, so who knows.

Does Orgin have tax?

The only thing that makes sense to me is if they made a general deal with states regarding online stuff because of Orgin.

I'm pretty ignorant about this kind of stuff tho.

Amazon fights paying taxes in alot of states, and considers it's distro centers as not a physical retail location. TN said fuck that and is forcing them to pay up eventually

I'll hold onto the credits, send to Yoona. Not interested in the BH loot, I'll just roll on Predeesh's Rakata gear for Kaliyo while he's out.

man playing a commando after lvling a guardian is almost depressing. Commandos are king at sweep mobs with as few button presses, while JK have to juggle a dozen skills to kill a mob of nubs.

You running dps builds for both? I run commando and juggernaught mains, and find the static range combat boring, like all the moving and bouncing around you do with the Jug.

No. I live next to one of the distribution centers. Governor Phil Bredesen baited Amazon with no sales tax and reduced preoprty tax (by 73% at the one near me). Bill Haslam supported it. But, alas, with the retailers and some lawmakers bitching, Haslam and Amazon reached the tax by 2014 deal and Amazon proceeded to build.

Yeah i ran vig (middle tree). The damage wasn't bad... but there really are no advantages of being limited to melee range and a fair bit of disadvantages.

Also tanking is a pain for mobs (which usually isn't a problem if you command your dps to do stuff right).

Still a fun enough class that could have better skill trees.

Here hoping today patch will fix that random crash I have been experiencing. (Seems like it was the culprit since I did noticed yesterday that the game crash on my desktop after I used the mouse I normally used on my laptop (which has button 5 and the one one normally on the desktop doesn't have).

Minor auction house gripe: I really wish they would save your price when selling stacks of the same item. More than anything this hurts the market. I literally have seen people give up and just list it as default recommended price because they can't be bothered. Problem is default price is always below cost so it screws both that guy and tanks the rest of the market.

On the plus side my sniper found a good seller that nobody is taking advantage of during the week. Almost up to 500k credits. Is that decent in terms of level 50 cash? I am 27 now.

It's like playing a paladin imo.

TBH though once they did that really shitty combo system thing for paladins I shelved my main indefinitely. It didn't make the class less boring, it made it too tedious. I went and played a shaman instead and had 1000000 times more fun.

/agreed. Glad to see I wasn't the only one.

As for nerfing the sorcs, leave their offensive powers alone...
Instead, just halve their HPs. IMHO that would take care of a lot of issues.
I play a Jedi Sage (Sorc equivalent), and I would die a whole lot more with 50% HPs.
TBH it would make it "on par" with my Non-tank characters in most cases.

Yeah, they'll hit abilities.

1) Make DPS/Hybrids builds less effective at healing.

2) Increase force cost for abilities across the board.

Doing all of the dailies will net you about 150k/day give or take a bit. I am full Columi with a couple of Rakata pieces and my repairs are about 12k/death.

So 500k is great for level 27, but not difficult to come by at 50

I want to dink around more in PvP but my Agent is useless in Huttball and that's all you get on Empire and my alt is too low and has no fucking abilities compared to the 40s it gets paired with.

Fucking annoying.

Naw, I'm not with any GAF guild. I get mostly non-Huttball as Republic but I'm tired of questing for now and can't really PvP even in the lower brackets since all of my good abilities and talents are in the higher end.

I really look forward to GW2 for shit like that.

Bah, inflation seems a bit off in terms of level progression. I mean, it wasn't hard hard to get that much but it wasn't a walk in the park either. I am getting around 1200 - 1300 profit on the market I'm in right now -- no wonder why people don't bother since that's chump change at 50.

IMHO it is still worth it to do that. In fact you really need the cash while levelling up for crafting, gear/mod replacement especially. Not to mention if you like running missions with your crew and you do not sell much (ie: companion gifts). The only exception to this would be farming each planet's commendations, but it dosen't provide all of the equipment slots, or some more unique class-specific gear.

Once you hit top level, beside repairs and the occasional purchase, you really don't use credits anymore. All gear is provided by FP's or PvP rewards.

Anyone see this on PC Gamer about 1.2?

Lead writer Daniel Erickson confirms that 1.2 will give players with Legacy levels access to a greater selection of races when creating new characters.

“The species that will be unlocked in Game Update 1.2 are species currently in the game that will become available to classes and factions where you haven’t seen them before,” says Erickson. “New species are in consideration for the future but we don’t have any details to share right now.” Jawa Jedi, anyone?

The next major update will also add dual spec support. That’ll let players create two different skill set-ups and switch between them at will, which could be useful for creating specialised PvP and PvE builds. We won’t be able to switch advanced classes though. Bioware see the specialised trees that open up at level 10 as “fundamentally different class designs.”

Erickson also mentions that “there’s a new Warzone planned for Game Update 1.2 which we’re already testing internally.”

I spoke too soon lol, free character transfer to aussie servers? sign me up. I will pass along the plastoid and bronzium when I log on Raz.

oh dual spec is coming in march? That's pretty great news!

Now the only person to blame when we fail a heroic/fp due to being slogged the healing position (commandos can dps? pfffff) will be me... or it's most likely the idiot dps dude.

Dodgeball in huttball is so fun. The best part is when a dude gets ultra mad as you drink in his tears. Some guy basically says, "f u guys, im hiding; not feeding u anymore medals." He goes behind the dumpster (near the expertise buff) in huttball; I follow him and get my 1v1 medal :D.

So much stuff coming in 1.2

I wouldn't be surprised if some of it gets left out, they really seem to be tossing the kitchen sink into next months update. I wish they had just simply spaced out this stuff more and not wait for one massive patch.

Though note, the thing about dual specs in the PC gamer article are not quoted from Bioware, and the article seems to just sum up last weeks Friday Q&A. I don't think they ever actually said 1.2 will have dual specs and that PC gamer is just assuming.

/agreed. Glad to see I wasn't the only one.

Yes, they have way too much HP. I don't have full pvp gear, but I'm fairly geared and it's shocking to see light armored "healers" with as much and at times more HP than a tank build.

Though its really an issue with the gear stats in this game, since it seems almost everyone will get endurance upgrades with whatever gear they get, so most classes seem to hover around the same amount of HP

I contacted my state's department of revenue because WoW has no subscription tax and SWTOR does and they replied with this:

Tennessee has enacted legislation that imposes the state's 7% general sales tax and a local sales tax of 2.50% on certain digital goods. These include digital audio-visual goods, digital audio goods, and digital books.

The Tennessee sales tax definition of "digital audio-visual goods" clearly indicates that computer games accessed online are not included in the definition and, thus, remain exempt from sales tax at this time. It is possible that certain online providers are not sure whether access to online video games is taxable under this provision and have chosen to be safe rather than sorry if they are by collecting the sales tax due on such games.

I will also point out that when a customer does access online goods that are subject to Tennessee sales tax, some vendors may not assess the tax because those vendors do not have a physical presence in Tennessee and have not volunteered to collect our tax. In such instances, it becomes the responsiblity of the Tennessee customer to self-assess Tennessee use tax on the purchaser's cost of the access and remit the use tax directly to the Tennessee Department of Revenue.

Unless I'm missing a physical presence in my state, I'm under the impression they made the choice to tax us to have some kind of *financial befit. Along with any other state in the same scenario.

*I don't know what happens after they get the sales tax in their pocket, but it goes in their pocket first and they get to keep it for a month at least? Probably longer. Having millions in your pocket seems pretty beneficial. I'm ignorant here.

Unless I'm wrong on this, I've made the personal decision to only buy game cards from a retailer I like from now on. I get hung up on principles.

It's kind of sad how much more fun the 1-49 pvp bracket is if you happen to be pugging. The level 50 bracket seems to be full of premades in battlemaster gear these days.

How is the endgame PvE? Just daily missions? No additional story planned?

Daily missions and hardmode flashpoints to help gear up to do the operations. They are continuing the games world storyline with content updates, but your class story will likely not be extended till the next major expansion I assume. The first flashpoint they added to the game last month started a new storyline that is going to continue in next months content update which adds a new flashpoint, and operation that I believe is tied also into the storyline started by those two part flashpoint story.

The spoilers for upcoming game updates also talks about storyline events coming up as well. They are recording voice supposedly already for stuff going into next year even. When the pesonal class storylines are going to get extended hasn't been mentioned.

At the moment, it's just dailies for mods, and Hard Mode flash points and Operations for gear. No idea on updates since I haven't been following their update notes.

Yeah, I definitely won't bother doing the bonus boss of KUS in the future. I think the bonus boss is more worthy of the head than the final boss to be honest. The final boss is a walk in the park in comparison.

That's pretty ridiculous and stupid. That guy is the single hardest heroic boss in ANY flashpoint. Unless they nerfed him, I haven't done it in a couple weeks, he's the only thing in any FPs that require any significant amount of healing or coordination (Even CCing 2 of the robots and then all 3 at the end, it's a ton of damage).
