Tera but it's got financial problems :(

combat fucking owns too
Guild Wars 2 is kinda action-RPG-ish. It has targetting, but almost every ability is an area effect or location based. Regular attacks are "homing" on the target, though.

It's probably the closest thing we'll get for a while.

New beta build today, with a server wide character wipe. Sucks to have to uninstall the client and download again more than 20GB... :(

Anyways, hope this build is faster, more lag free and with a substantial overall of the UI and heroic quest systems.

I'm hoping for this as well, but I'm not getting my expectations up.

I think bioware is taking the wrong approach with how they test content. They are trying to force players to test end game content, but most players wont play a high level toon if they haven't been able to level it and learn the class / story behind it.

They should have let players keep their characters throughout the different beta phases as to allow endgame testing.

I'd love to test end game for them, unfortunately I'm not in the beta.

Well there was always Huxley (mmofps-rpg-hybrid thingy), but I dunno if they ever brought it to west from S.Korea.

A few months ago they tried to keep characters from the last build & over half of them broke. I think from then on it's been the way it is now.

You guys are free labor anyway, test minions, test!

doh. Look forward to trying it though

Glad I got the regular edition. Seems like the CE is just full of a bunch of gimmicks for them to make more money, but don't actually do anything worthwhile.

The only in-game items that aren't available outside the CE are the Mouse Droid vanity pet and access to the CE store. The rest of them are available in the Digital Deluxe version or whatever they're calling it on Origin.

Personally, I think they're all worth the extra $20. However, I put in a CE order b/c I can't say no w/o knowing exactly what's in that damn CE store.

Luckily I won't have to hear your whining from my VIP area.

*sips champagne*

I'm sure what's in the CE store are just social stuff, clothing, dyes for armors, perhaps even wide range color stones for your weapons.

What I really hope is those items are bind on pick up and never gets released else where within the game.

The CE VIP area is located on the Fleet stations for both factions. The social hubs as it were. And they're both big, bright, and noisy looking. With elevators going up & down, you can see the skybox up top, and I think they added in NPC's that scoot you off like bouncers at the elevators if you don't have VIP access (the way Erickson described it anyway).

I think they're trying to make the CE people hated across the world.

Pretty much the only reason why I stayed on the collectors. If I get heavily invested in the game, I don't want things out of reach. I suppose I want to believe that optional vanity extras are available to buy if you have the CE edition of the game in the future, much like blizzards digital store.

The mouse droid in the CE was not what I expected. I was thinking about the "little truck" and when I saw that yellow I was disappointed. Then I remembered this is a few years BBY and it shouldn't look like the mouse droid from the movies. Then I heard the sound effect and I smiled. Yeah, that's a major reason I got the CE. I have problems.

Gooooood goooood, let the hate floooow through you, makes you strongahhh, gives you focus!

So what is the point of the "VIP Area"? Do you just sit around feeling smug that you spent $150 on a videogame? Or does it actually offer conveniences of any sort?

You also get access to a vip shop with exclusive items as well I believe.

These are the top level 50 ones so far in beta (shown at comic-con I think?). Yes, they don't cast a shadow yet. Beta is beta.

Those last two bikes look quite nice, glad to see there are some good looking "mounts" in this game. Anyone know if they are faction specific or not?

Man I hope they add in passenger pickup with the cars. I would love to just drop off people lol. Be funny as fuck.

They can just use the animations from the taxi system when passengers get out of the car. The jump out one. It would fit perfectly.

I wouldn't count on it any time soon. It always seems to be one of those low priority MMO-features, but having passengers in vehicles was one of my favorite features of SWG.

Are there any action-RPG MMO's that are real time?
Dragon's Nest.

But it's:

1) A korean game, therefore a huge grindfest
2) Nexon published, so microtransactions out the wazoo
3) Instanced worlds, you'll only be able to do stuff with 3 other people (7 for raids but raids haven't been introduced yet)

But the combat system is probably in the genre. Feels like a fighting game, with none of the fiddling with inputs.
