Little tip I found is that an oracle can go 1v5 against marines without stim without dying. A 6th marine will finish it off with about 2 marines left I think. Also two oracles can kill a widow mine before the mine shoots, as long as you have vision with Envision or an Obs.

I launch it through Steam using SCIIswitcher.exe, and that skips the launcher.
Just be careful closing the overlay, pretty sure that if I close it with Esc, SC2 thinks I'm holding down my Shift button and will promptly fuck up everything I try to select. A second Shift + Tab to close the overlay instead seems to be safer.

Guys, I'm bad. Really bad. So bad.

First time playing SC2, or SC in general, after picking up HOTS.

Been trying Zerg 6 pool and reading up on diff strategies. Watched some Day9 stuff and replays of other players.

Seems like no matter what I do it ends up just death. Bronze league. 2-8.

Still having lots of fun though. Just would like to win more.

Just keep playing games and for now just focusing on keeping your money low. Always be building stuff. This isn't a game that you can master overnight so just keep at it. :)

Everyone cheeses in the lower leagues. I think you'd be better off going macro focused.

Check out bronze to masters. Super simple way to get better and find a better understanding of the game.

I would definitely recommend Filters Bronze to Masters. I basically just picked up MP a week ago after ditching it shortly after WoL came out and already I feel like I'm more in control and I'm actually winning games.

I'm playing the Terran version but he lays out goals to hit to improve your fundamentals instead of just giving you a build order. It's definitely the most comfortable tutorial I've found so far.

Don't do 6 pool. The build is just a coin flip that almost always fails and you will never get better that way. Simply practice a 2 base build. Probably 2 base roaches. That should get you more comfortable at the game and also let you win games if you execute it properly.

I'm running GAF Night TONIGHT 8 HOURS FROM THIS POST 8PM EST.

This will take place on the US SERVER you can participate from any region by using the new ingame server switcher button that appears on the login screen!

I'm going to try to set up lots of inhouse teamgames, FFA's, 1v1 obs, and even some Arcade games. This for the most part will be run by me for at the minimum 2 hours. Please try your best to use the mumble server during it!

Is that assuming zero micro?

I meant stutter stepping towards the oracle to prevent getting kited. Or are oracles not micro'd in that way?

An Oracle kills 5 marines with no micro involved other than A moving. They do it no matter what micro the marines are doing.

Unless I'm missing something here from what you're trying to say.

Just finished the single-player and it was heavenly. There was a lot of content in there I was really impressed. I loved the mutation strain mission idea, I wish they explored that even further. Really looking forward to the protoss campaign, I love their aesthetics and Zeratul's mythology.

Ah, thanks, though I meant specifically people who are nearly as rubbish as me, ha.

Just my opinion but it would be best to play people who are disproportianately better than you if you are doing customs. You would lose yes, but then you can look at the replay and actually extract proper timings that were used against you and compensate accordingly. Again it's only my opinion.

Looking to get the expansion; don't suppose there's a contingent of scrubs EU side on GAF to play against, is there?

I don't think it matters if you're EU or NA for custom games does it? I played with fork the other day and he's EU... Have you joined the big gaf group? PM me and I'll add you to the scrub league if you want.

I just played a ZvZ I'm pretty proud of, so I thought I'd post it here. I had almost no idea how to play the matchup a couple weeks ago, but I feel like I've got a decent grasp on it now. The guy was a masters player and BM'd the hell out of me too, which only makes it sweeter.

Filter has a HOTS bronze>masters up right now as well. Finding some good info. Right now my problem is feeling like I die regardless of what is going on. Anyway, thanks for the tips guys.

About 2 years ago TL did an article on why BW zerg player savior was so good: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=226236 . If there is anyone who hasn't read it you definitely should, its excellent.

Anyway, they have now completed part 2: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=405029

It's still hard to look back at savior's career without thinking about what he did. I literally couldn't believe it when he was implicated in the gambling scandal.

Thank you so much for pointing this out. I was beginning to think Part 2 would never come out.

Here's to hoping he gets around to making one for Flash as well.

Is anyone watching the Suppy vs Bly on MLG? Bly just had one of the best ZvZ defenses I've ever seen. He defended like 32 speedlings with maybe 14 slowlings, 2 queens and some sim city in his nat.

It reads like his trash talk requires more planning than his game...

Regardless of the sport, competition, game, whatever, using the proper series of words to truly make your opponent believe that you don't actually get that you lost while also getting under their skin requires a level of thought most of us will never have.

Just played some placement matches in 2v2, me being a gold league from waaaayy back in WoL, along with a silver-ish friend of mine. Got the same 2 guys twice in a row. First time I was playing terran, can't play them for the life of me so we lost pretty badly. Second game tho I picked protoss, the closest to main race I have, and we totally crushed them. Feels good man.

That's too bad, the worst I've run into are people who don't GG at the end, and one guy told me I was gonna loose (then I beat him :) ).

I played against one guy who was waaaaay better then me, split his marines multiple times to dodge my banelings and ultras, he messaged me afterwards telling me GG and how I played well for my level and stuff... he was pretty cool.

that's too bad about people being douchebag, reminds of me the recent thread about pro level COD players who shout obscenities during the match.

Why are hydralisks and swarm hosts so bad? =( I want them to be good.

Hydra/host/viper seems like a strong composition vs P. I watched a replay on snute doing this where he focused on setting up outside a P expansion then abducting colos into the hydra mass.
