StarCraft II

We use a lengthy replay for benchmarking StarCraft II and play it back at eightfold speed. This game doesn't stress the CPU, and is thus well-suited for GPU benchmarking. We deactivate Hyper-Threading for this test.

Just saw this on toms hardware and then thought, lolwat? They got that all backwards.

Uh oh guys, help.

I kinda verbally accepted a job offer a few hours ago. I just got another job offer, one that's in a more convenient location and pays better. What's the best way to decline the first offer? Call+email or just one of them? What should I say to not piss them off?

Well first make sure you have the 2nd job locked in before turning the other down.

Once that's good to go, then you can benefit from it in several ways by:

A) Telling them up front. Hey I got a different offer, pays this much more, and is located here.

If you do that, they may gun for you harder and offer you even more pay than them, maybe same pay price match but with better vaca days, etc.

B) Just say, I appreciate your offer, but I'm actually going to have to decline for now due to other circumstances.

If they ask what it is, then just let them know you got offered a better paying gig, and leave it at that.

Tell them the truth. You got a better offer. Maybe they'll offer you a stupidly large pile of money or something.

Don't feel bad, it happens. You should only call the person who made the first offer, be honest with them and let them know you were offered another position that is much more convenient for you in terms of location. Don't mention the pay unless you want to try and get a counter offer out of them.

No employer will fault you for wanting a decent commute or to not have to pick up and move. They go through this all the time, so don't feel like you're hurting their feelings, and it's not like you knew you were going to get another offer. If they sound butthurt or give you attitude then just be polite, apologize and let it go.

Edit: Zlatko makes a good point: You don't have anything right now. Until you have an offer letter this is all just talk from both employers. Get the better offer in writing before doing anything so you don't screw yourself into having neither as an option. Don't be afraid to be selfish in how you handle this.

Good Advice right here.

The new offer sent me a pdf copy of the official offer to read and said that they would mail me the formal offer as soon as I accept. We also clicked better during the interview. Would they really withdraw at this point? I already sent them an email reply to accept this new offer since they sent me the offer in an email (and my interview invitation was also by email at this place). I am pretty sure that they will reply with an email tomorrow morning before 9am to let me know they got my email. Should I wait until then before calling to decline the first offer? I'm just worried that the longer I wait to decline, the more likely the other guy is to mail me a formal offer and then get annoyed that I didn't notify him sooner.

This is mostly just Cover Your Ass territory. It's rare, but some people do get fucked from verbal non-binding comments made by potential employers. As long as the PDF has your name in it, you're good to go.

Ive had something like that before, not for that long, since I disable chat anyway, but where it just wont load it. This seems like an obvious question, but have you tried it a different browser?

I wonder if I can get my girlfriend to watch IPL4 finals with me since we aren't Housecrafting it. I hope they have epic production and make it a spectacle that non-fans can appreciate.
