Trying to balance the negatives with some positives: the "NASA-punk" art style is amazing. Straight up 10/10, incredible work by the design team.

Jesus, this game is absolutely massive, and the variety is simply mind-blowing. I am totally having some flashbacks to Fallout 3 and how that game was blowing my mind over 10 years ago because I couldn't believe that a game with such a massive scope was even possible. And here we are again, with Starfield blowing my mind all over again by being bigger than anything that Bethesda has ever done before.

Today I went from exploring our own backyard in Sol and visiting every notable planet and moon in the system to taking down pirates in space and boarding a space station under siege to deliver some good old-fashioned shotgun justice, to landing on a jungle planet with violent storms and immediately having to fend off a horde of angry animals and rescuing an injured colonist, and back to my main mission where I delivered another piece of the artifact to my home base.

And now I'm just chilling on the terrace of a New Atlantis restaurant, enjoying this beautiful sunrise:

This is easily one of the greatest games of all time, man.

It’s just getting better, it’s by no means perfect but that goes for TOTK as well, I can’t stop playing.

At this point I really just dislike the inventory user interface, it’s just not intuitive. And I don’t like how you don’t need to really fly and can just use fast travel, you can fast travel from inside a house on one planet to a city on another planet in another system, never touching the ship. But just gotta accept that it’s more Mass Effect than No Man’s Sky.

Still a 9/10, and it’s getting stronger.

I wars going to get Gamepass but then I heards it quest breaking bugs later is this true my friends?

Too marny loading screens? Is this better game thens Cyberpunks?

What combat traits/perks yall went? I am a thief with stealth so I pickpocket all the time, steal credits and rob weapon racks to sell.

I also stealth kill civilians and take their shit lol. I went for pistols as the main weapon spec and will do snipers once I unlock that. I use a surpressed pistol for sneak attacks (more damage), The fantasy is great. I also went into persuade, so I lie all the time to get what I need and then get rid of the people once I get what I want. It's amazing. Never been caught yet LOL.

Who said anything about 10 minutes? Plenty of space games out there that actually involve traversing space and you ain't sitting there for 10 minutes, but still feel like you are exploring. I guess some folks just don't get that or are too busy trying to make up excuses.

I do think the complaint about loading screens is overstated, but making up a bullshit argument to dispute another argument is just silly.

Giant quest logs in open world games need to go. I'm not even 5 hours in and I feel like I have an unending list of chores to do. It's. It not fun. I bet the next quest will ask me to go mow Todd's lawn.

Less is more.

Kinda similar here. I would say I’m playing a Han Solo type of character, sneaky loner opportunist with lots of gray morals, lots of persuading. Traits: Introvert, Neon Street Rat, went with Taskmaster too but haven’t had any use for that. Often using stealth and then melee if I can, or some cool rifle.

Just talking about giving a game a high score in general while it still have flaws. I see no problem with that. TOTK is a 10 for me but I could list tons of flaws if I wanted. Starfield has flaws too but so far it’s a 9 for me and it’s getting stronger. A perfect 10/10 don’t exist.

I have 2 undiscovered creatures on a planet and I’ve landed in multiple spots with no luck. I keep seeing the same ones I’ve already found. Am I missing something on how to find them or is it a bug?

Ah, you got the Mantis armor too.

Good shit, the ship is a massive improvement over The Frontier as well.
I did indeed! Was by chance I was scouring my notes in the inventory and then the quest popped up, I won't spoil anything else but the quest was amazing and that ship? bloody incredible.

I am starting to get a few more bugs. I can't access my ship storage without it jacking up my backpack weight. I am not taking anything out. All items in my backpack are the same but it adds weight and it was two different values and they are significant. Weird. Also, VASCO disappeared once and I had to reload. Nothing game breaking yet but I need to figure out what is going on with the accessing the ship storage jacking around with my carry weight. It instantly encumbers me.

Is this outpost building bad, or am I just bad? I made an outpost airlock, but the only thing I can connect to it is a hallway? Any of the habs I try to connect to it just go “cannot place item, intersects with an existing object.” And I have no idea what to do about it

Ok, they weren't kidding about Akila being a Western inspired town. It's like I've walked into a RDR-punk world, including a bank robbery gone wrong.

So far, I have not had the need, or requirement, to randomly explore the worlds so I guess I'm not seeing those generic ghastly textures DF etc are talking about.

But I do have one gripe, this really would have been better if they just focused on 4, 5 big bespoke worlds instead of making a galaxy of hundreds of planets and each one of them having persistent memory for things.

Taking a break from the main mission since I decided to kill a man vs letting him go on his word. Felt like the right decision but now I can’t step foot in the city without security shooting me to death. Now I’m working towards citizenship with the Vanguard. I haven’t been this hooked since Fallout 3 and Witcher 3.

When’s the last time I enjoyed an in game museum tour? Thanks Starfield

God damn I wish I had an ultra wide monitor for this game.

New Atlantis is so big and so detailed, amazing how they can make that city run that well on their engine.
Textures are so detailed, there are NPCs everywhere.

From the top of the city near The Lodge you can see your ship and even NPCs moving from very far.
Shadows are crisp and not suffering from shadow cascades.

I jumped from a tower and went all the way down to the space port, slowing me down at the last time with the jet pack, I did not expect the city to be such a big instance.
And it looks like you can go outside as there are some unknown things on the scanner.

The tram making you go to different part of the city is just teleporting you, no real loading there.

The underground part (the well ?) has some very detailed stuff too, the gear shop looks very good with stuff everywhere.

I'm quite impressed with the scale and the details, and how well it runs maxed out in 4K (i7 13700K, 32 GB, 4090).

20 hours in, this is shaping up to be my personal GOTY. However, did you just turn a blind eye to the awesome texture work in the first major city New Atlantis?

New Atlantis fairly good, minus some weird trees, but otherwise nothing really stood out. Places like the Well actually look pretty nice.

Bethesda should have tried to hide loading transitions between instances. With SSDs it would have been possible.

It's something that bothers me in Everspace 2 as well.

Anyway, I was kind of disappointed at first. But now I'm really enjoying it.
Got a new ship through a quest. Added a workshop module.

I forgot on which moon I stashed my contraband items :messenger_hushed: All this fast travel is making my head spin, most of the time I have no idea where I am.
Next time I'll write it down. Or stash it on our moon lol.
