State Of Decay |OT| Eat Flesh

So I finally found where maya and marcus went, they were waiting at the last mission for me. I beat the mission but I didn't see any actual ending..... what am I supposed to see?

That is the ending.

That is the ending.

Yeah, it's the not the greatest ending. Feels rushed/they reached that point and said fuck it, this is good enough.

I guess the possibility of it being fleshed out/expanded on with some DLC isn't entirely unlikely and it's something I really hope happens.

Strain added that last spring, Undead Labs approached Microsoft about publishing a Windows PC version of State of Decay. He said Microsoft was immediately receptive to the idea, as Valve's platform could help ensure the game reached a wider audience.

"There was no hand-wringing, and almost no debate," he said. "They were just as motivated to get the game out there as widely as possible as we were."

Well then.

"We didn't know what to expect," Strain said of the game becoming the fastest-selling original XBLA game ever. "We're incredibly proud of what we've made. Obviously if we had more resources, you know, then we would have loved for State of Decay to have been an even more polished experience, but we felt gameplay was something new and original and it seems that [our audience] agrees.

"It's been unbelievably gratifying. We're in awe."

MS. I hope you're listening. Give them whatever they need for the sequel/Class 4.

He's absolutely right too, the gameplay is simply incredible.

Great game but I'm finding the difficulty level hard, maybe I'm a noob or whatever but sometimes I get overwhelmed by the amount of zombies pouring at you at times.

Delighted to see it doing well anyway

It's been so long since I played that I feel like I'm not going to know what the hell to do when I go back. The 2-3 hours that I did play I really enjoyed but I can't deny I was a little confused. This thread tells me that nothing is explained well in the game. This has kept me from powering the game back up.
Are there any youtube videos or posts in this thread that can help noobs out? Want to get back into it but need a little help.

The idea it to avoid them whenever possible. Try sneaking around, not making too much noise, etc and you'll be fine. Also try to establish a few outposts to help keep hordes, etc down to a minimum.

Some stuff isn't fully explained in game via tutorials, etc, but it's mostly easy to pick it up as you go along. If you do hit any walls or if you need any help, tips, etc, we're all here, ready to help at a moment's notice. Just ask.

Now go get stuck into the best zed game ever released.

Several comments about the game being "too hard" and ferals being overpowered. I've had the opposite experience.

I've done 2 1/2 playthroughs so far and have yet to even come close to losing anyone.

Even when out of meds/stims and at half health I'm able to beat off ferals easy enough.

Hell, even my current no cars/no home base/storage locker/no starting gear playthrough I'm halfway through and haven't come close to dying, even after accidentally triggering a couple of hordes.

Skill plays a big role in the experience. If you've got the basics down then very little will kill you. I actually took down two Big Uns on my own the other day.

Also: I gave Sam a broadsword and specialized in edged weapons. I feel like Michonne now.

Pretty sure this is new: Interview with Jeff about the game, working with Microsoft, concept etc... interesting read.

I'm so happy that these developers were able to take a chance on a game like this and that they have been rewarded for it. It's great that it will end up on Steam because this really is a great game.

I'm definitely looking forward to the DLC and Class 4.

Started playing through it again, got a bit cocky and went hunting for a feral without properly tooling up.
ME and I think Ben find the Feral but there's a horde next to him but I'm like "YOLO!" and we get it.... but we killed the wrong feral
wtf.png
so now I have a zombie horde attacking me and two other ferals come out the wood work, so I'm like frig it I have my gun on my I'm gonna blast em I start gunning zombies down, get tackled by a feral
why.png
.I get a up beat them off my partner, get a little space and start squeezing again but there are now at least 10 regular zombies plus about 2 more ferals, I'm hacking away but it comes to the point where I realize I can't win, so I book with barely any life while my hunting buddy gets murked
snoop.png
I take off but by now I have no ammo, pills or snacks or stamina and there's a feral on my butt but I'm pretty close to my home base so I make a "run" for it (more of a slow stagger to be honest) and just barely make it to the wall and the feral comes right after me. I try to fight a little but I quickly turn and run and luckily some of my housemates make it outside in time to save me.
RIP Ben but

This was the best SoD story I've ever read.

Is there a way to go out to explore with a group of characters at the same time like in the beginning of the game?

Wait for a morale mission. After your character deals with the issue just delay returning the survivor back to the base. You can also do the same with the missions that ask you to escort lost survivors home.

How exactly does this game handle passage of time when your system is off? I'm still loving it, but won't be able to play for a few days and don't want to boot up next time and find everyone dead...

If things are in good shape when you leave it you'll be fine.

Ended it a while ago. Some impressions.

I got to try this game out at PAX East, and the lady giving us the summary of it made it out to be a lot more hardcore than it was, especially character traits. She mentioned how they were all random, and you could run into situations where the best shot on your team is also an asshole who drains morale etc etc.

But I found the traits to be a non-issue in the game. Even things like shooting, felt like they never improved significantly so it wasn't a big issue if someones bio said they loved shooting. And the personality traits never really affected gameplay too much. I NEVER ran into a situation where I had to kick someone out of my group.

Game was fun though. Felt it was a bit too easy. The only way to die is if you're reaaallly dumb ans go hunting a feral while being hurt with no meds and limited ammo. (rip maya)

The ending was also super underwhelming especially after that amazing run on the armory.

I'm hoping the sandbox mode has difficulty modifiers or something. I never experienced a scarcity of essential items.

I also ended up getting bored after beating the game so I proceeded to go out with a blaze of glory (but never got the achievement, dunno the parameters) with every playable character. That was kinda fun. Just ran into the streets guns blazing. But this also made me realize how they are reluctant to really punish you for mistakes (ie stamina recharging quickly, tap a to get back up twice...) A more difficult options would warrant a second playthrough.

The traits and the home base survivor interactions as a whole are very under developed. I recruited an English teacher who within the span of a week: argued with Ed, fell in love with Maya, nearly died to a horde, and then had to be put down with a mercy shot after sustaining injuires. Unfortunately none of this shows in the actual game beyond notes in the journal. I wish we could see more of these events. It would go a long way towards breaking up the monotony.

can you tell me the difference between a mercy shot and kicking someone out of the group?
i kicked alan out but i could also kill him.

I think you lose more morale if you expel someone vs the mercy shot. I could be wrong. The one time I actually expelled a guy the game glitched and he was forever marked as "missing".

So... Did they actually fix the infestation bug? Because I'm still getting that message but I can't find any infestations around me.

Also I'm trying to move to the warehouse but I need one more dude, what's the best way to get more people? Is it random or through side missions or main missions?

This is exactly my game...I have 11 folks (sorry sarge, I sent your ass packing early on when you were being a dick, and I didn't know about relocating).

I need one more person. I'm constantly getting the infestation warning and I haven't played (and won't) until this bug gets fixed. I feel "stuck" in my current game; getting incredibly repetitive and I just want to move the team to the warehouse...

Someone please help me and Neuro out!!!

The infestation bug has been fixed for me. I had to clear out the northern cabins, but since then I haven't heard a peep about infestations bothering my people.

There's no hidden secret. You gotta ask Lily or do the siege/trade missions with the other enclaves. If you haven't already: Advance the story. There's an event that will reward you with two survivors later on.

Get Lilly to radio for other survivors and ask them to join when you find them. That's what I did when I needed a few more people to move into the warehouse.

Same here. It was at that time I learned about the usefulness of outposts as well and set up a grid of them. Very fun game. I'm moving this weekend and have not played in a couple days and won't get to till next week. I have a feeling I'll be starting a new game ...

I'm about an hour into this and it's impressive how they combine several systems together. It's really hard to believe its an XBLA title when it has more in depth gameplay then most retail games.

I can't wait to see what future awaits Undead Labs, I've got a feeling they'll be massive one day

Yep I totally agree, such an amazng value at $20. If I were at undead labs I'd be very excited at what the future holds for the studio.

Help! I'm at the warehouse, I have enough people and materials but it won't let me make it my main base.

I'm in the mission with Jacob where he wants to move, do I have to go to his silly treehouse site first?

Ah I see. Got it.

Pretty dumb he says you can drive around wherever and pick your own base, but really the game forces you go to the tree fort house and the warehouse before letting you choose.
