You need to have much much more strenght than when you weild one sword. Even when you parry become difficult to overcome someone with one sword.

In others words, either a really big guy use a huge two handed sword of a really big guy use two swords to mix his strenght.
Yes. As mentioned in my previous post, it was not viable for basically anyone other than Musashi back then since he had an enormous size and strength advantage over other warriors of his era, which compensated for the inherent problems of dual wielding swords. A normal, even very skilled and strong swordsman is at a major disadvantage with a two katana style. For a woman, it’s a non-starter. She would be knocked around badly and disarmed, no matter how skilled.

This is of course just a video game, and rule of cool applies instead of realism. But for a series with such a heavy emphasis on historical accuracy and dueling, it does raise eyebrows since it’s basically the worst possible loadout for a female warrior in a Japanese duel.

I thought it was just ok until the end. Blew me away. I've been begging for first party studio news and that's what I got. Can't complain.
Same, I just wanted Sony to show us something.

I'm not the biggest fan of Tshushima, but the scenery in this looked beautiful and it got me interested enough to where I'll follow this one from now on.

I always saw the use of two swords as a way of being provocative or to mock your opponent saying to them that you are very skilled in comparison.

IDK if would make sense putting the Mongols of the first game against her because they are very big in comparison, but again they sure will take those liberty to the limits.

I was midly impressed with this State of Play. It seems Sony hasn't died yet and there are some good left in them. None of the games seemed like DEI propaganda. And the Ghost game was the icing on the cake.

I think I might still stick to the PS5 eco system (and even upgrade to the Pro if financially viable) as next year is shaping up to be a great year for the platform with Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, GTA6 and The Midnight Walk, possibly at 60 Fps quality mode for the Pro version. And Alan Wake 2 with ray tracing will look fantastic.

One thing is for sure Sony has literally decimated Xbox to smithereens. Xbox now looks like a dead duck. a vastly inferior console in comparison to the Pro judging from the PS Pro enhanced and upcoming games.

PS5 Pro with disc drive ($500 with trade) now seems like a valuable proposition to me.

As per my market research, I would have to spend about $1300 to buy an equivalent PC (4070 12GB desktop) and double the amount i.e. $2600 for laptop (4080) 12 GB version that meets PS5 Pros performance.

So, I would save about $800-$2000 by sticking to the current PS ecosystem for playing exclusives and demanding AAA games (AW2, DD2), along with a mid-range laptop for those free and less demanding games like Elden Ring.

Fair enough.

Absolutely fucking zero reason for anyone with a decent gaming PC to purchase a Ps5 now though.

...and look how that strategy played out for the Xbox console.

For me, I hate waiting for games to release on PC. Getting to play a game a year after release on PC to me seems like eating leftovers once the main feast is over.

So, I personally now think PS is worth it as you get to enjoy gorgeous games like Ghost of Yutai, Death Stranding 2, and GTA6 well before they launch on PC.

A decent mid range PC with 8GB and PS5 is the best combination for getting the most enjoyment from gaming today.

I don't get, and never have got, FOMO.

More than happy to wait for a better version of a game.

Only for those few who own a 4080/4090 setup.

The rest of us would have to spend an arm and a leg (and throw in some kidney as well) to enjoy 'the better verion of a game."
yeah, the pro changes things. Up until now, anyone with an RTX 30 series or better would get a better experience waiting for the PC version, with the Pro, you'd need a 4080 or 90 to have a substantially better experience, which the overwhelming majority of pc gamers dont have.

I believe their focus on accuracy may have just been about the invasion, not really about the core gameplay itself. Lots of elements in that game are completely inaccurate, so in terms of gameplay, its likely going with a fantastical hero type concept like the first game, like wild things happen, but the character survives etc or Jin having flaming swords lol

They might be going with Kill Bill approach or Lady Snow Blood, like...its grounded within this realm, but the actions you see are fantastical, like The Bride killing 88 plus people in a single night type thing.

Ghost Of Tsushima to my memory talks about historical stuff regarding the invasion, but the gameplay and many iconography is not intended to be part of that, but I think its because their aim was not to make those elements realistic at all. So i'd argue what we are seeing from the trailer of this game, is in line with that fantastical element of the first, like Jin taking down folks 4x larger then him. (i kid, but I don't recall how huge some of those bosses were lol)

I loved it. I can’t wait for these pro enhancements. Very hyped. Worried me and my bro won’t both get a preorder. Makes me want to stop playing all games until ps5 pro comes out, lol.

Saw it just this past hour. I like the focus on AA games at the beginning. Already buying Dragon Age and Alan Wake 2 dlc and the finese with Ghost 2. Its not a showcase, gets a solid B. If they showed Death Stranding 2 release date would be an A.

Not sure what the general consensus is, but I really liked this State of Play.

It had lots of good announcements and trailers: PS5 games, PS VR 2 games, new controller lineup, PS5 Pro montage, PS Plus games announcements.
  • Big first-party reveal (GoY)
  • DLC announcements (Astrobot, Stellar Blade, etc.)
  • PS1 Classic Remasters
  • Legacy of Kain Remaster
  • PS+ Premium Classics
  • Tower of Aghasba made a comeback
  • Shadow drops (Palworld)
  • Big third-party games like Alan Wake DLC, MH Wilds, Dragon Age, etc.
I really liked it. Almost feel like a lower-profile Showcase.

Me too, believe it or not. Still a terrible show IMO, but at least Ghost of Yotei is something to look forward to.
Few surprises. Some nice third party games or dlc to Astro/Stellar Blade. Wouldn't call it terrible, bu it's obviously not Sony we used to have

Something was definitely wrong about this state of play, my theory is this state of play was to promote concord season 1 big time and celebrate the game. But they signed a few 3 party deals and couldn back out.

If found it so strange that they started with astrobot which I love, and filled the show with controllers and such.
They clearly didn't have enough content ready.

Now I bet you anything they will turn her into an angry vengeful bitch just like they did Ellie, Abby and Aloy in HFW.
Well I mean yea that's exactly what Jin was. I don't care that they changed the protagonist because I trust the company to make another likeable character just as much as I liked Jin or close it.
