If you're experiencing stutter, turn off hardware vertex shading in the launcher options. This setting in particular fixed stutter for a lot of people so try it out.

Its actually the opposite that fix it for me.

Btw game's super hard on Hard, damn.. I can't imagine how its like on Nightmare.

Thanks anon for ROM. Looks dope.
"Hey Frost, what's new?" you ask.

So yeah, Rise of the Tomb Raider... completed. There's 5 achievements left from that are not DLC-based. Maybe I'll go after them, I haven't quite decided yet, since 100% is not open to me at this point unless I want to shell out a bunch of cash for DLC.

The game was alright, but it didn't quite deliver anything new or improved from the last game (and I thought the last game was a ton of fun). If you liked the TR2013, you'd probably dig this and the $20-$30 that the Nvidia promo codes were going for is a pretty fair price for what you get.

The story strikes similar tones to the last game (as well as much of the Uncharted games), but isn't going to blow anyone away. The tombs are similar to the first game, but maybe a little more complex in terms of puzzle solving to get a unique skill every time. The combat is alright, though it feels like something is missing, but I can't put my finger on what exactly.

The main differences from my experience lie in the increase focus in resource gathering and the fact that the game is mainly comprised of 2 large hub areas which contain the majority of the challenges/missions/collectibles and then some small story maps which can be revisted at a later time to search for whatever you may have missed. It's been a bit since I played TR2013, but I remember that having a lot of varied environments on medium sized maps interconnected rather than large hub areas with a few offshoots.

The game suffers from a bunch of technical problems in places as well. The performance of the game in the main hub areas, particularly the second one, can cause the frame rate to absolutely tank. Sometimes cutscenes do this too, but since a lot of games have 30fps pre-rendered cutscenes, as long as it wasn't dropping massively during the cutscenes, I didn't really notice. It has some other issues too, like problems with the game recognizing which area you're in when you bring up the map and not displaying it unless you zoom out and move the cursor around a bit.

Random thought: The game reminds me A LOT of a third person FC3. The hunting/dealing with animals in the wild. The mass killing of mercs with assault rifles/bows/pistols/shotguns. It lacks the vehicles of FC3, but there's more of an emphasis on climbing/platforming in spots (FC3's main climbing was relegated to the radio towers, from what I remember, so it's not a huge stretch for the comparison either, actually).

Overall, TR2016 didn't really meet the lofty expectations I had after the series was rebooted (especially when I was anticipating that copy I won from shadownet's birthday giveaway and the game finally coming to PC after the xbox fiasco), but it's a solid effort and I wouldn't mind playing another iteration of the franchise in a few years.
I just
found and lost the atlas
and I have to say, I'm having a lot of fun with RotTR. A lot more than with TR13. Like you said, it's not many different regions overall but I found those present being done well while having their own style and looks to them. There is good variation.
One thing I'd definitely should have done different was not spending too much time in the
Soviet Installation
when freshly arriving there. I made my life more boring than needed. Later levels are really much better.

Heh. For a first-time player who isn't used to the Sky system yet, it's pretty ballsy to try Hard first. Props. Still, once you figure out the strongest strategies, it'll be pretty awesome kicking ass.

Persinally infound the one good thing about the game to be the bow and arrow
Everything else was either badly thought out, unintereting or left much to be desired
I wrote my full thoughts some pages back if u havent read them yet :v

Rely on Time Arts and Time quartz; speed is really important in every Trails game.
Buffs and debuffs are important. You'll see crafts for certain characters that raise defense or lower the enemy's attack later on, these are extremely useful.
Don't be afraid to use Arts because of their delayed startup. With proper speed, you can fire off multiple arts quickly.
Try to create "extreme" characters, not balanced ones.

That's about all I've got. Good luck.

Like others said, Clock Down and Action Quartz are first priorities. I'm a huge fan of Earth Wall myself as well.

Titanic Roar is a great art to use if you're facing a lot of mobs, especially since it only requires 8 earth.

Aerial is one of the best arts starting out. Has a fantastic area and really cheap EP wise.

Edit: Fixed for FC

The only controller that really matters.

Well so far, I may get a Steam one later on.

White gamepads, ugh. Wouldn't wanna know how that one would looke after a year of use.

man it's so satisfying when you get to see the alien base blow up after finishing a mission

xcom is so rad

edit: i do really wish they'd just tell you when a mission is gonna be timed or not

i guess you learn about it as you progress but still

Pretty much all optional non story missions are either directly or indirectly timed. The only exception beeing the
alien facility
missions.

yeah i guess i wish the mission briefing was a bit more descriptive so you could prepare a little better

like if you have to rush something you might not want to take a sniper or if you know there's gonna be a lot of hackable stuff you'll want a specialist, etc.

also the difficulty is really weird, i've had some "easy" missions be 100% impossible and then a difficult be super easy to ace with barely any damage

weird

Just started Witcher 2. Wow, the tutorial throws everything at you doesn't it? Feels kinda weird and overwhelming with M+KB. Is controller the way to go here?

The game was designed for KB/M but I've heard some people say that they prefer to play it with a gamepad, so I guess it works fine.

Play with what you prefer, the game works well with M+KB. It's just that the tutorial is ridiculous.

I personally prefer M+KB in both The Witcher 2 & The Witcher 3.

What is wrong with it being japanese?

The supported languages for the game seem to only be English, French and Spanish. The second video having the narration in Japanese feels somewhat weird when the game (supposedly) doesn't feature any kind of Japanese support (nor any kind of voiced dialogue?).

A game translated to Spanish before being translated to German? That's new :O

I prefer M+KB for The Witcher 2. I also experienced a bug that made fist fighting QTEs impossible with a controller.

Completely unrelated: Far Cry 3's stealth is not great.

Ready for Dark Souls 3.
Impressive. I did get the platinum for DS2 on PS3. DS had that one stupid achievement which need you to get all weapons, one of which is only achievable by killing abt 15/30 members of the Darkwraith covenant as a member of the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant. That was a pain coz hard to find those people to invade and I gave up.
Rise of the Tomb Raider really fell out of best seller list huh, even beaten by Garry's Mod.
Shit, that's not good. :(

Not much of a surprise really, it felt like they were on Zombie mode for a couple of years now.

I was gonna say "really?" but I dont remember the last time I went there...shit >_>

used to really enjoy the reviews (back then not alot of places were doing video reviews I guess, or video content), Brandon Jones is a great narrator, and I used to listen to Invisible Walls as much as the Bombcast for example, but then just completely fell off the site

Good news it will be bundled, bad news we might not see a third one

Depends on how it did on Xbox One exclusively, and how much those numbers compare to the lifetime PC and eventual PS4 numbers.

It could be that the recent sale bumped it off of the best sellers list as people are buying cheaper stuff (like Garry's Mod), so it could be selling just fine.

It sold very poorly on Xbox one, AFAIK. Hopefully it will sell well on PS4 and as you said the Lunar sale may be the reason for it dropping off of the best seller list.
