Initial impressions are .. eh?

A few issues I've run into:
  • Steam overlay appears to be broken, using my steam controller was an exercise in futility, and at one point the cursor just disappeared, and the game eventually crashed.
  • When full-screen, bits of text of the next line are shown before that line is actually revealed. This does not seem to happen in windowed mode.
  • Typos, e.g. "I need to let my tentacles breath", and text that does not match the spoken dialogue.
  • The clashing art styles quickly got distracting.
  • The protagnist being mute just feels odd, since everyone else speaks, but at least the dialogue appears to respect your character choice (male / female). I think I'll just end up muting the voices entirely.

However, I will note that the game's equivalent of insult sword-fighting got me laughing several times already. I think I'll give it another chance, but so far I wouldn't rate it as scratching that eldritch itch.

Cool, thanks a lot.

We're probably going to take achievements down until we get them working.

Gun Monkeys. Ugh.

GMG cursed me with that a while ago.
Jenny LeClue is still not out. Incredible how games are so long to develop and always get postponed.

Why you MUST run PC Street Fighter 5 at 60fps

- Gameplay is tied to framerate! Possibly known already but I did not. So playing over 60fps is a no-go, as is under 60.
- A 750Ti very rarely goes over 30fps at high. Overclocked and at low settings 60fps is achievable.
- 950 needed to match PS4 quality (medium settings on PC)
- 960/380 enough to max out at 1080p

I have a Nvidia 660. So it looks like i'll be laying SFV of all things lower than the PS4 version. Unless my CPU helps out, which I have noticed is a thing in Unreal Engine Games (I have an i7)

I don't get it. Why can't they just make a fighting game? With focus on fighting?

I mean, what's wrong with a fighting game without porn? It's not that it HAS to be atrocious looking just because it's a fighting game.

Or is it just a Japanese thing?

I wasn't going to get SFV at launch anyway because I am on the fence about it gameplay wise. I like it more than 4 though. That said, all I have seen as of late is a bunch of people that are complaining about a game they will barely play or only for a week anyway.

Ono is trying to work on the next DOA.

I mean that's a tad bit unfair. Maybe those people would play more than a week if it had more of what they wanted in it at the start.

I want to ask: What's the best-case scenario for dino crisis?

a packaging of the first two games into a bundle to test the market? The first game is polygonal so that would actually work out well, the second game is more of a mess given its prerendered background.

I just dont see a scenario that capcom does a new DC game without checking the temperature first. Of course we can point to ARK's popularity, Jurassic World's success, and even Lego Jurassic World's sales as proof that there's a thirst for new, good dino games.

But capcom is gonna capcom.

If they left it to me, i would make something akin to Dead Rising but with dinosaurs. Basically a modern version of what the first dino crisis was, which was RE but with Dinos instead of Zombos

Pretty sure that wouldn't change anyone's mind on how long they would actually play it. Not to mention the game will get a boost in sales after Evo anyway from a even more mainstream audience due to the pack of people that will go "That looks cool! I'll play that!" and then proceed to play it for a week as well.

I am being harsh as hell but, the casual audience will give sales to the game yes but, trying to complain about a game they won't play that long and pretending that this will affect the longevity of the game is silly, especially when Capcom knows how dire this is. All that said, yes the lack of features at launch sucks ass and they should have had more stuff at launch for sure but, it does seem they just wanted the thing out.

The Chinese Cryengine one right? I want that.

SF4 had a way to test your settings, to see if you could run it at 60fps. SFV should have the same, but simply not allow you online if you can't hit 60fps with the current settings.

Interestingly enough, DF says you will be able to play competitively at 30fps but at a massive disadvantage due to frame skipping. Maybe that's hard-mode ;)

Both ports still work on Windows 10. Despite the Xbox 360 controller being Xinput it even still works in those games. As you said DC1 is all 3D so it'll scale well and really only need the 2D menus straightened up. DC2 on the other hand would require more work. Since like the PC RE games the backgrounds can only go so far before they look bad. Though aside from the backgrounds the game scales to 1920x1080 easily. As for how they could release them I dunno. 10 each I think would be fair, with the price going higher depending on how much additional work they are adding to the port. Such as if it's just a re-relrease like you would see on GOG, or if it's actually updated so that it has Xinput prompts and the like. I would say for DC and RE ports to steam 15 bucks would be the highest end they could push. Since it's going to cost more than the PS1 games on PSN since those are basically just ISO dumps and don't require much work port wise.

Still though. All dat casual money is something i would want even if they don't stick around. People giving me money > People playing my game for a long time.

You are totally right. I was more just ranting about people complaining about stuff that they wouldn't are about in the long run. Sorry about that.

Well I was down for some Street Fighter V tonight but I think I'll just watch the blazing row kicking off outside between a couple of my pissed up neighbours. We wondered what the racket was until the shouts of 'you're not the police you drunk prick' were screamed in the most awful of regional accents. Anyways speaking of SFV...

Top tip boys and girls regards to where to look for PC performance is first to toy around with negative resolution scaling as that will gain you fucking loads of performance back but still just the UI in decent shape. And secondly is to go have a look at what settings get included in the elevated ini files so you might be able to tweak more granularly than the in game options allow.
