Speaking of Windows Store, has is it been confirmed how the cross-buy thing works?
Can someone who buy a QB copy on XB1 give/trade his pc key to the other? Will it be locked to your account or not?

The problem with DRM free games is that publishers have much less control on their product.
IE, take Spelunky: on GOG it came with no daily challenges etc, I don't know if they updated the game for Galaxy, but I doubt publishers like Capcom will release DRM free games of SFV, in example, via GOG.

Is there even a full-paid multiplayer game on gog?
I rarely visit the store.

Hopefully GOG will grow even bigger and give Valve a run for its money.

We need competition for Steam and who could compete better with Valve than MS. The more games and content they can lock down the better so we can have the same healthy competition we have on consoles.
We don't want Valve to keep its monopoly and Park Lane right?

I disagree with this. The competition shouldn't derive from the games sold on the client but the value and features added by the client. Steam for me is better mostly due to the sheer number of games available plus Steam Cloud, achievements, cards, in home streaming, etc.

Locking games to one store or client is not competition IMO. To me gaming on PC is about choice and every new store and client with exclusives games that comes out reduces choice. They can obviously do whatever they want but having to deal yet another game client is tiresome and not exciting. Might as well just leave the games on the console. I have zero plans to buy games on the W10 store today.

Not saying they should sell their games only on Steam. Sell them on W10, Steam, Origin, UPlay, etc and let gamers decide on which client they want to manage and launch their games from.

Sorry waking up 2 hours earlier than I needed to made me
Irritable this morning :(

It's not really cross buy as I understand it but just a pre order bonus.

If MS made all their digital games true cross buy with W10 you could pretty much ignore everything I said above. That would be great value added that would justify having their own client.

Well the new mission in The Division beta is a bit more involved and longer than the hospital one in the last beta. Area is pretty cool too and while I did die twice doing it solo because it's slightly harder than the other mission I managed to cheese the boss enemey without him even getting a shot off at me.

Also there's less dogs but more people out on the streets, peeps are still dicks in the Dark Zone but there's 2 new Legendary guns in there that have some nice perks on them. Oh and the reward for completing the new story mission in a new skill (I won't spoil what it is but you can kind of know if you look in the menu). Plus there's also some daily challenge stuff going on with a reward for all participant and a unique reward for the player with the most in the activity. Today it's helping survivors by giving them medkits.

Anyway only game I'm likely to cry over right now is seeing folks playing Fire Emblem Fates before there's even a EU release date :(

Damn you Nintendo and your cursed region locking! I know Awakenings came out about 2 months after the NA release but did that even have any other supported languages other than English?

I may not know much about every video game or played every video game, but I do believe there may be a contender for that throne a-comin'.

Citizen Kane of gaming is Suikoden 2, which I hope you all bought when I said you to!
if not, karma will get you

Insane creators convinced of their own genius create a video game that's so unbelievably awful that it becomes a legendary cult classic? Devil's Third sounds close. Anyway, SFII, Doom, Everquest are the kind of games that are the 'Citizen Kane' of gaming, given their influence on the genres they practically created.

But what does the make C. Kane?

You know I was kind of thinking Limbo of the Lost would take the cake as the closest thing to Plan 9 but...

Here you go:

It's a point and click adventure game by Konami from 1992:

Well didn't know this was a thing. See guys Konami isn't that bad after all.

If it was down to me it would be a deal. While I didn't mind what I've played of Bravely Default right now my playtime is about 6 hours for that and 140 odd for Awakening. Look at it this way at least you have a release date for Bravely Second :(

I was wondering, would you guys prefer the steam store to be moderated as strictly as gog was before, like steam is now - no moderation, or something in between?

Whats wrong with Arcsys titles. Every few days they get removed and then added again.

what was removed this time? They scare me with those shenanigans.

The same as every time.

Removed store name – GUILTY GEAR XX ACCENT CORE PLUS R
Removed store name – River City Super Sports Challenge ~All Stars Special~

Something in between. Before Steam curation was shit, because it dependes on the employee whether he liked some games. I mean they outright refused to sell visual novels, because they are not "games" to them and games like Oil Blue while letting thousands of bigfishgames on it.
Now every shit can come to Steam with assetflips and such.

I mean its not that hard to decide whether a game should come to steam judging by quality standards. If I see a game that was developed in 2 hours in Unity or something that looks straight out of paint or some asset-flip games, refuse those.

Or someone sneakily creating artificial demand by yanking it from Steam but keys available on third party sites. So folks see it removed from Steam and scramble to buy it thinking it's gone for good. Yes they got me first time XX ACPR vanished :(

It almost got me first time it happened. But clearly there is something wrong with it being yanked from the store

The problem is you still miss on great games.

http://landsofdream.net/why-should-you-buy-tswce/

I know that some people come here and simply don’t know what to make of The Sea Will Claim Everything. It looks interesting, but what is it like? What’s with the graphics? What’s with the lack of a proper feature list? Just… what is this?

“It’s a portal to the Lands of Dream” doesn’t sound like much of an answer, even though I’m pretty sure people who have played TSWCE will agree that it’s the most accurate one. So let me try to explain a little.

The first thing you should know is that the game is the way that it is because it is meant to. Take the visuals. We’re often told that the more realistic graphics are, the better. But even if they paid me to make this game in the Unreal engine, I’d refuse. Not because I hate 3D engines or anything, but because it would just be wrong. I’ve noticed that people who aren’t gamers often absolutely adore the graphics, simply because they come at them from a different perspective: they love the strong colours and the bold lines and the imagination and the fun. And you will too, I think, if you give them a chance.

I don’t know if the screenshots really capture the feel of the game, to be honest. It feels different when it’s not just a little image in your browser. The screenshots feel static, but the game feels alive – even though it’s drawn on paper.

The second thing you should know is that this game comes from the heart. Every little bit of it. It has flaws and quirks, like people do, but every single bit of it is the result of thought and attention and care. It matters to us like something entirely real, and I think that’s why you’ll find that so many reviewers write that they, too, cared about the Fortunate Isles.

The third thing you should know is that brushing your teeth is really important. I’ll go brush mine right now, in fact. Be right back.

The fourth thing you should know is that playing this game will be a journey you’ll remember. You’ll see strange places and people. You’ll have moments and experiences you’ll treasure. You’ll find something that will be special to you; it’s different for everyone and usually entirely personal, but the world of TSWCE is so large and so full that everyone finds something.

The fifth and final thing you should know is that this game isn’t a joke. It’s not “I’ll throw together a quick indie game and make some money”. It’s different in its aesthetics, but it’s not cheap. This is a huge game with hundreds of screens and enough words to fill a book; it’s got beautiful music and a real story and real ideas.

But what is it like? Well, in terms of games not set in the Lands of Dream… nothing, really. It’s not Myst, it’s not Quest for Glory, it’s not Monkey Island. But thankfully, all the other Lands of Dream games are free, so you could play some of them. I’d recommend The Fabulous Screech; it’s only fifteen minutes long at most, but it’s quite representative in a way. Just imagine that TSWCE is several hundred times larger, and non-linear, and much more complex, and… well, anyway.

I hate to use the language of marketing, but the truth is that The Sea Will Claim Everything is unique, and that in itself is a good reason to buy it. You don’t even need to be into adventure games to enjoy it, because it’s not a typical adventure game. You don’t even need to be into games! (Honestly.) Everyone is welcome, and everyone can find something of value in the Fortunate Isles.

The same stuff keeps getting removed and eventually readded pretty frequently, there's a bunch of soundtracks that keep getting pulled as well. I'd be curious to know what causes it.

MUnited83

For you.
I was wondering, would you guys prefer the steam store to be moderated as strictly as gog was before, like steam is now - no moderation, or something in between?

Fuck nooooooo. The less curation exists, the better. Curation sucks. Let me decide what to buy, not some dude at Valve's giving thumbs up or down according to his taste. The shitty curation is what makes GOG bad and I hope Valve never goes down that road ever again.

I finished Ace Attorney 2.

Capcom, you need to strike now while the VN iron is hot on PC. Unshackle that series from its mostly portable hell and bring it to the number #1 VN and Adventure game platform in the world.

So people with low income in e.g. eastern europe have to pay high prices now?

It should have been the other way honestly. EU1 should have been downgraded to EU2.

These days, in Paris, there is a beggar every 50 meters in the streets. Sometimes they fight against each other because there is not enough room for two of them.

Enjoy those (from what I hear) less than stellar mobile versions if it ever does come to Steam.

they fixed most of the issues with the mobile version when they ported them to the 3DS, though. typos were corrected along with performance hitches and the correct (DS) soundtracks were used for all 3 of the games. The 3DS version is basically the best HDish version of the first 3 games.
