Now that I think about it, A TR reboot that was closer to a survival-horror third-person title (Last of Us, Silent HIll, or Evil Within on the extreme side) would've been more interesting. I recall Tizoc mentioning that he cared for the feeling of isolation in the original games, and I mean, I could see something like that with TR. Lara would barely have to speak, and most of the stuff could be told via exposition found in the environment (which to be fair is what's done now, but none of this "oh this ancient Mayan bucket was used for ritualistic defecation on the odd days of the Moon calendar" ruining the the feel of loneliness and more so the pacing.) She could explore a single haunting tomb, quiet, atmospheric.

Tomb Raider (2013) were originally pitched as a darker, and more isolated experience on an abandoned Island, were you could ride around on horse and explore. It had that horror vibe.

Top post again. Should I buy The Witness? It keeps pulling me.

240 GB SSD isn't much better.

I'm glad 1TB SSDs start to get affordable.

The trick is to try not to juggle too many large games during a single period of time.

I have not learned this trick yet, mind you. But that is what the trick is.

I have ~200GB SSD and yeah I need to pick up a 500GB+ sooner or later. I only have at most ~40GB for games because then Windows will start deleting system restore points.

Wow, can you guys survive with that? I have 2 1TB HDD and I'm struggling with the space. I'm buying a 4TB HDD soon only for my games.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

That's really cool, did not know about that. I'm enjoying Rise but I'd still love to see a more horror themed Tomb Raider. I haven't read up to much on it but it seems Baba Yaga is somewhat leaning in that direction.

From the artbook developer commentary part of the concept for Survival Horror TR13 sounded a bit escort questy. Give us a tick I'll dig it out.

The Archive said:
Every project usually has some concepts that don't make it to the finished product, but this game had an AMAZING amount of great ideas that didn't fit our final formula. You'll see in these pages explorations of characters and environments that were created when we were going for a more fantastical vision. Back in these early days, before my time [Brian Horton I guess] at Crystal Dynamics, true exploration was the theme and the myths took centre stage. Lara had a child companion she needed to protect and the enemies were the size of buildings.

Another treatment showcases a much more horrific vision for the island and its inhabitants. The Oni were designed as manifestations of pain and suffering. I came in at the tail of this process but I was very inspired by these images.

Ultimately, we feel the direction chosen was the best one for us, but these steps were important to get us there.

So we could have had Shadow of the Tomb Raider or Lara Space.

Nice Humble Bundle. Bought the $1 tier.

I remember a time where "Nice Humble Bundle" meant that the bundle was so enticing that people were willing to pay more because they wanted to (literally pay what you want). The idea behind the humble bundle is pretty dead now, with these BTA, etc.

To put some context, this brick wall represents the pinnacle of visual technology employed by this game. In 2005 it was a real oddity in a game that just looked average.
haha i see you're implying league looks average when it's actually gorgeous hahah

silly you :>

Just to be clear I didn't want to offend you, it was meant to be LoL joke. If I did I am really sorry.
nah don't worry about it, i'm not that easily offended, not always at least

just having a bit of fun at my own expense cos self-deprecation is the one kind of humor i understand :>

Honestly, it looks fine. It is primitive, but it has acceptable art direction. However, my point is that integrating such advanced technology would look stupid and ugly. It would also make me question the competency of the technical directors in allowing such overindulgences into the game.

I know it's a metroidvania with bunny girls. A friend is playing it, but I have no idea how the game is.

I like the features list:
– Retro exploration platformer featuring a bunny girl.
– 4+n difficulty settings for all types of players.
– 9+ main areas and 20+ sub-areas to explore.
– Bunny.
– Over 60 items and upgrades.
– Over 20 fully illustrated characters with cutscene illustrations.
– 40+ boss battles, 1000+ attack patterns with Boss Rush Mode to fight some or all of them in a row.
– Post game story and content with speedrun mode which takes out every section of the game where the player cannot control the main character.
– Over 50+ pieces from an original soundtrack.
– English, Chinese and Japanese support.
– Bunny.

I was reading up on the last couple of Crusader Kings 2 expansions and came across this gem

One performance improvement of patch 2.4 was regarding huge Byzantine empires in late game, which were slowing down the game because each Greek person was evaluating against each other person in the realm "can I castrate?". 70% of the AI demands were about castrating or blinding someone

Also, if anyone wants CK2: Horse Lords, it's 73% off at GMG using 20PERC-WTHGMG-201627

Well you can "upgrade" your purchase and lock in a (lower) BTA price while you decide if the second-week extras are worth it, but I think the amount of competition and oversaturation have dimmed the initial goals of Humble.

It's like the first 75% Steam sale. We all thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. All the other digital download sites jumped on board and now even 75% off isn't enough to entice consumers. Publishers counter by drip-feeding DLC and seasons passes and keeping the MSRP high.

Cool, thanks for the recap. I'm glad he didn't make as big a deal about that issue as some people on GAF did. $5m in revenue in the first week is pretty extraordinary, even if it didn't take them to the "break even" point.

It sure seemed like he made a big enough deal on twitter... I'm legitimately surprised that there was no mention of it in the "fakts".

Don't do that to your SSD.
They need at least 25% of free HDD space to work. And roughly 50% to not have performance degradation.

I'm still waiting to get a 1TB drive or something to that effect to use as my main steam drive for games that are hungry for the performance of an SSD or are heavy on load times in general. They just haven't been cheap enough and I really don't want to do anything short of 1TB if I can manage it.

Hopefully that'd give me some room to put the games I'm focused on actively playing and finishing on there and use my normal Steam library drive for backlog. Hell, it's easier to do the move/delete/"install" trick than to redownload in some cases...

I just wanted to be clear :D

I am thinking about putting RotTR on hold until i get new graphics card. It is beautiful game with average story so i at least want to enjoy in visuals and great environments.

An update has been released for the Steam Client and will be automatically downloaded.

General
Restrict chat from users who do not share a friends, game server, or multiuser chat relationship with you
Fixed a case where having Steam Cloud sync disabled (either globally or for an App) could cause that App to be told there were no local files found
Reduced memory usage of games which integrate Steamworks cloud storage features
Improved stability of games which make Steamworks API calls from multiple threads simultaneously

Big Picture
When Steam is first launched only show up to 4 notifications for friends that are in a game, otherwise just show a single summary notification
Improved performance when displaying a large list of scrollable items

Steam Controller
Added per-account Controller Personalization.
Added support for Configuration Travelling, Click here for details
Added Trigger Mouse Dampening options for soft pull/soft+full pull. Defaults to previous Soft Pull only mode.
Added mouse region snapping support for non-mode-shifted mouse regions. Mouse regions can now snap or not-snap to previous position when they're not in use.
Overlay Disabled message is now shown in Big Picture game screen when the overlay is disabled.
Added New Export Save System. Unifies and simplifies exporting configurations. You can now more easily browse and save Private and Public configurations, including replacing/editing existing configurations.
Added Exporting new Configuration Templates for often used configuration defaults.
Added Browsing/Importing of all games configurations from any game. Useful for when you made the perfect setup in a sequel or similar game and want to use the same config as a base or verbatim.
Publishing a new community configuration now requires you to have played with the configuration for at least an hour.
Added additional Touch Menu selection settings to allow selection on Release Click and on Release Touch.
Added Trigger Hip Fire Exclusive mode - this mode is a dual stage trigger mode that allows either soft or full pull, but once either is engaged, the other will not engage until the trigger has been released.
When exiting Steam, Controller now returns to its default “lizardmode” Mouse/Keyboard state
If Steam loses its ability to send input due to UAC/Control-Alt-Del prompts, controller will now attempt to drop into its default state to allow interaction with these dialogs and resume normal configuration once workable state is re-established. The controller will beep when entering/exiting this mode.
Fixed bug with joystick not always sending fast taps to the left.
Anti-Deadzone now obeys deadzone shape setting. For gyro applications such as Steering Wheel in Racing games, using the cross shaped deadzone will provide expected anti-deadzone behavior.
Added better support for non-Steam games and applications that cannot use the Steam Overlay such as browsers, command line tools, emulators, etc.. While these applications won’t currently support some functions such as touchmenus, xinput, and controller HUD functionality, these applications will now be better detected and use their Non-Steam Game configuration when in focus.
Shortcuts/Non-Steam games will also attempt to use their designated configuration when launched outside of Steam, provided Steam is running in the background, with the same limitations mentioned above.
Fixed legacy bindings on configurations with native controller support not displaying/working outside of the first action set.
Fixed a dead zone issue when a trackpad was used in Mouse mode
