I feel bad for her as well, but if she is employed in a PR/CS capacity then she has a duty to represent the company when dealing with consumer complaints (not pass off blame), and if she is not employed in a PR/CS capacity then she should not be representing the company in a public-facing customer dispute. There needs to be a public face of accountability. There is not. She is wisely beginning to direct people to other parts of the company, but this speaks to poor allocation of roles within the developer. I recommend the company go get ITIL training because these are not management best-practices for an IT firm.

I feel worse for the Square Enix PR rep for Nosgoth right now. He is just getting shit on from all corners of the internet.

I don't think I even joined the Family Beta Program because I have nobody to share my Steam account with, and also I'm always online.

So how does it work? Can you share a game with someone who is not in the beta for instance?

It says "guests" don't need to be in the beta.

Also the main user has to activate the account on the computer, I don't know if that means you have to go and sign in on your friends computer and then authorize it or what.

I hadn't been reading into it all that much and the faq isn't that great.

Also I'm in the latest beta and it's referring to a button in the settings menu that I don't see.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I'm actually looking forward to the Steam Family Sharing feature for what it's actually intended for. My son wants to play the new Tomb Raider (which I own) and can do so while I'm not signed into Steam.

I'll try it out later and let you guys know how it goes.

Yeah. Im in the beta too. Lets try this Family Sharing out.

Can two users share a library and both play at the same time?
No, a shared library may only be accessed by one user at a time.

Not interested in this anymore.

Yup, same here. My wife has her own Steam account but now that I have a PC wired to the HDTV, she might want to dip into my library.

Actually, that's probably not true, we have polar opposite tastes outside of love for Nintendo.

Well that took what? An hour?

Yup now I should be able to let my boys play games on the PC and not worry about my saves/achievements.

Haven't played the game, but if Conan O'Brien quick look is to be believed, there's some stuff bordering on torture porn in the QTE events - not sure how old your son is, but there's definitely stuff there that's not safe for kids.

Well I opted out of the beta, and then the button in settings popped up so I don't know what's happening.

Also I just realized I'm not even going to do this properly as I don't play the games I do own, and no one has any that I want to play (other than like outrun) so I'll really only be doing this for other friends who want to steal my games.

Yeah I saw that review as well but my experience playing it was not nearly as bad. He's nearly 14 and a really responsible teenager, so I'm not worried about it. :)

Thanks for the heads up though.

Was also part of the first Indie Royale Back to School Bundle.
However, according to the Steam forums, Rockin' Android are stubbornly refusing to hand out Steam keys to Indie Royale customers despite retroactive IR Steam keys being tradition. That's a low blow.

I got in but received no notification via client. Just got an email.

Opt out and then back in with the beta and the family sharing beta button will pop up in settings if it's not already there.

Edit: So yeah I have to sign my account in to another computer if I want to authorize it for the beta, so unless I give my username and password to my friends I don't think I'll be able to really hook them up as their states away.

Ya, I see that. Bums...

Figured they would give keys since every other dev gives keys to their games in bundles.

I just tested out Family Sharing. Works like a charm and as intended from what I can tell. You need to log-in to your account on each computer and authorize that computer. That means that if you want access, you need their log-in information.

That seems insane though. Even if you're actually family let's say they're miles away.

I guess they're trying to make it as similar to actually physically borrowing discs or something.

Well if they're family, I'd HOPE you can trust your family not to go nuts with your account for a one-time thing.

Well that's not fun, but I guess it makes sense. I don't like sending out my info. Hmm.

So uh, since when torture porn isn't like the greatest thing ever for a kid? :D

It's not nearly as insane as the "share your entire library at a time" stipulation.

I'm (obviously) a huge fan of Valve so I can only assume they're trying to make this work under the direct influence of the game publisher's demands and stipulations.

Do you know if you can download a game from someone's library or does it have to be already installed?

Also how the hell did I miss this build a doujin bundle, it's like the first one in ages I didn't have all the games for and I completely missed it :/

You guys make this thread move too fast so I miss all the announcements on stuff.

Well if they're family, I'd HOPE you can trust your family not to go nuts with your account for a one-time thing.

I'd hope so too, but it also says close friends, and I don't trust some of them at all :p

The main problem I see there is limiting inappropriate games. I can't imagine it would be hard to limit off M rated games for a user or something but I'm not sure how the parental settings work and I especially don't know how they work compounded with the sharing.

Also I'm pretty sure there are tons of games on steam that are just straight up unrated so who knows what they do then.

Hey guys,

I'm about to play Blood Money. I haven't played a Hitman game in forever. Is there a post someone can link me to about any recommended mods?

Thanks.

You can download the game. Games shared between the two of you don't appear in the other owner's list, only your own.

Exactly. :)
Do it only with people you trust and if it's possible do a one-time log-in while present at their computer. Otherwise I wouldn't dare doing it. I can just hear the complaints of people getting scammed already.

Just saw Gun Monkeys is free for the weekend, and wicked cheap on sale too. Anybody know if it's any good? (he said while impatiently waiting for it to download.)

Thanks, was wondering about that.

I got into the Family Share Beta too. Works as promised. I can use an alt account to access all the games on my main Steam account once the machine has been authorized. You can even install games using the alt/friend account. I can see a use for this in a family with separate Steam accounts.

Stay away. The game is multiplayer only and SO dead that the developers released a patch that would generate Steam keys to hand out to your friends if you joined an empty server.

Oh, so you, the Master Account, the one with all the games that will be shared with others, is the one that have to type in your login information on the other machines?

That's great. Nobody will want to risk their accounts sharing it with random people on the internet, and if they do, they risk losing their accounts.
