When I do a reformat I'm going to pick the top ten out of my backlog and just install them.

Then work my way through the titles as I see fit.

Disney Interactive! On a more serious note, EA strikes me as the only publisher with enough non-Steam titles to fill such a large void, but it's too early to be even remotely certain.
You're not thinking deep enough.
Nintendo is going to be at VGX.
Valve is streaming the VGX.
Obviously, Reggie is going to announce the Nintendo Steambox, releasing with 100 new and classic Nintendo games!

Nah, Valve's just going to unveil Half-Life 3 as a Wii U exclusive.

The Wii U has to move units somehow.

Wii U is the Steambox, Valve bought it and rebranded it. Merry Christmas, PC gamers!

I tried something similar on my new build seeing as I only had 30gb spare to play with but as soon as I got a storage drive in there like usual I went mental and downloaded stuff left right and centre. Saying that you're a damn sight more resolute than I am.

I'm going to make a clear New Years resolution to buy nothing next year outside of Dark Souls II and maybe a few bundles. Otherwise I'm never going to get my backlog down.

That sounds hilarious. Is there a video?

Might be one somewhere but it was completely random. The guy keels over and if you're unlucky it happens to be in the direction of the swimming pool he's patrolling. A couple of minutes later and you're trying to work out why a 'Mission Failed' message just popped up.

My main issue with my backlog is it has kind of been one in, one out for the majority of this year. So I end up never making any progress.

When I do buy a game at this point, its because I want to play it now. I don't generally buy games anymore just to sit on them.

Okay, so, the new games that appeared in the registry encompass the id range 268650 to 270630, and the subs they're tied to encompass the id range of 35619 to 35918. Both the apps and subs -- 100 of each, and the ids increase by the usual increments when a range is claimed (1 for subs and 20 for apps) -- appeared 9~10 hours ago. Who put them there and what games do they pertain to? Who knows!
EA, possibly. They've got tons of stuff to sell. Would be cool if it was Namco Bandai, but I really doubt it since they're not too into PC gaming.

It's probably going to Greenlight stuff though.

The numbers do match up (100 new apps for 100 new greenlit games), but this would not only mark the first time space has been reserved for Greenlight titles, but also the first time Valve's handled third-party listings itself. We'll know once Steam keys start being handed out.

I think that's half my problem. I buy something telling myself I do want to play it but usually ends up a brief 40min-2 hour flirtation and then move on to something else. Either I've got commitment issues or the marketing guys have go into my head, or both.

I spend more time worrying about the nitty gritty nature and the analytical nature of my backlog and subsequent progress in reducing it than actually making head way. 10 hours inputting stuff on backlog very isn't a problem but playing 2 hours of Just Cause 2 is (though I swear that game is never ending).

Saying that I must have finished more games this year than any other outside of school days. Just this end of generation price crash and retail woes we've had here had really made for some stupidly cheap deals.

If you aren't 'feeling' a game enough to continue it, then you should just move on anyways. No point in continuing something you didn't really like.

Just Cause 2 is the perfect example for me. I put about 3 hours in, and wasn't feeling the boring mission design, had my fun with it and stopped playing.

I played Just Cause 2 over the summer, when I had an urge to blow stuff up. I barely did any story missions.

i was wondering why i got crappy framerate sometimes in dark souls and other times it was rock solid 60fps
the framerate unlock disable hotkey was on back

Were you playing the game with a keyboard? Then you only have yourself to blame.

Payday is fun but hard, is Payday 2 easier?

The game definitely gives you helpful things (like body armor) much more quickly then the first game.

It can be hard if everyone isn't working in-sync with one another. There are some missions which are very hard, but extremely satisfying once completed.

There are lots of easy missions though for when you want to casually enjoy it.

Did you play the first one? Any impressions on how it compares?

No I never played the first one.

I have a feeling we were playing the very simple missions.

nah but when i used back in steamchat the game still recorded the input so it disabled the unlocker

i played the first one a while back but i find payday's 2 overkill mode harder than in payday 1, other than that payday 2 is easier i think
payday 2 is almost better than 1 is almost every way though i find payday 1's maps are larger (but mission design is less elaborate)

by the way if you pick it up do yourself a favor and disable the chromatic abberation, there's a mod for that i think
i can't understand why developers keep doing that, it's like that shitty filter in max payne 3's cutscenes, heavy depth of field or exagerrated motion blur

Thanks, I'm enjoying the first one, might get 2 if it gets a nice discount on the Christmas sale.

Sure, as long as they get away from their LOOKIT ALL THE NEW WEAPONS WE GAVE YOU TO KILL DUDES WITH thing.

Upgrades are not necessarily a bad thing. Look at Arkham Asylum/City, the armor upgrades are completely superfluous. But the designers took them into account so if your playing one of the games, every time a new move set or item unlock becomes available, you always have an upgrade point immediately ready (or in City's case about 5-7 of them in the second half of the game.)

The point is that if you're using a weapon in a Thief game (apart from like, for a noisy distraction), you're doing it wrong ;)

I just went to Hell in Spelunky for the first time, and while I was expecting to die I ended killing King Yama and beating the game :D

I'm loving this game.

If I played Thief wrong I don't wanna be right.

Well done! Consequently I decided to lurk into the Mothership for my daily run today, managed to snag the plasma cannon and have it end up killing me immediately on the next floor.

I downloaded the sonic racing demo. Gonna try it out when I get home.

Would you say it's worth the 5 bucks?
It's a quality kart racer that's worth the price of entry. If you enjoy the demo I wouldn't hesitate.

Why are you doing this to yourself? This game most likely won't have anything to do with the previous entries beyond the same title.

Personally I'm trying to figure out how close it will be to Dishonored.

A one hour video of someone slowly sneaking through a mansion not killing anyone or anything would get me excited again.

Everything about the new Thief game makes me extremely wary. The story is Dishonored, the gameplay looks like Assassins Creed 1st person edition, and this focus mechanic.... looks like the focus mechanic from Hitman Absolution in which the game was designed around it. I don't want another Absolution style betrayal. My heart can't handle another.

Why did you post your homemade porn here? =p
(Also, I'm not counting the blackjack as a weapon)

Because they are trying to market it as such, so they better fucking deliver. "Oh yeah, fans of the originals will still love this because we stayed true to the essence of thief after all our in-depth research!"

What the fuck is that "respawn" bullshit in Sonic Racing Transformed? I was in second place, about to take the first place, then a "respawn" occurs that leaves everybody in pretty much the same starting positions. There were four respawns pretty much one after the other. After that nonsense I ended up the race in fifth place. Fucking bullshit.

Lol, the destructive power of the plasma cannon is amazing and something to be afraid of. Not to forget the kickback xD

We'll probably look back on Hitman Absolution more kindly because of this game. "Maybe that game wasn't so terrible after all" we'll say.

I so fucking hate you right now. :'(

But yeah, it would be a pleasant surprise if Thief turns out to be, you know, an actual Thief game.
Though the third is already much different from the first two, it paid for it with atmosphere. And the
Cradle
.

There is no patch for 1080 resolution on the third game though.

Just on the off chance - has anyone got a copy of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood they'd be interested in trading? Started an Assassin's Creed Marathon lately and totally didn't realise I didn't have Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Revelations.

Now I'm hooked on the story and can't wait for Winter Sale for crazy discount Ass Crack.

I'm only interested in the Greenlight games, but I'll purchase the lot and do away with the Steam keys.

Do Valve even have a history at the VGAs? When was the last time they actually showed something on stage/screen? L4D2 E3? Portal 2 E3? Like R*, they don't seem to care about these shows an awful lot.
