Bought the SR4 and Metro: LL season passes. Came to $7.18. I know the Last Light DLC is supposed to be not-so-great, but that's pretty damn cheap.

Sigh, I hated Max Payne 3 when I played it on PS3, but I just couldn't resist buying it for $3.50.

I got it as well even though I have no idea if or when I will play it. But that's the fun of a Steam account!

Edit: Now owning all the Max Payne games but never having played any of them, does it matter what order I play them in? I'm guessing it doesn't.

Play all of them in order, they're really short and they're outstanding. The only thing I hated about the original was that you had to quick save like a madman to stay alive.

Counteropinion: Don't play Max Payne 3. Shitty, terrible movie pretending to be a game. It's like everything Derrick says is bad about AAA titles distilled, matured, digested and then shat into your mouth.

It sort of does, if you want a full understanding of Max's internal dialogue and motives you should play them in order. And from a gameplay perspective it would be hard to go back to MP1 after 2 because MP2 is absolutely superb.

But MP1 is sooo goooooood too that you just can't not play it even if you have already played MP2 first.

So I fired up Fez for the first time. Am I blinded by the awesome?!

Not yet. Just got out of the first area. Hopefully it picks up.

Or not... :(

I really liked the concept and the artistic style, and the first like thousands of times I rotated sides I was positively speechless.

Then the nonsensically convoluted hardcore puzzles and the fatigue in keeping track of what I explored on the map, made me ditch the game for good.

I preordered it without prejudices, I wanted to love it, but... nothing happened.

For me is an overly pretentious work and it is so clear it came from an overly pretentious person.

I just wish so bad there was a mod or something to let me play Max Payne 3 in full without being interrupted by the cutscenes. Even if I hate the way they plopped Max into a mismatched setting full of GTA characters, the shooting was so good -- I just didn't get to play a lot of it by the time I finished my playthrough.

In terms of playing them in order I'd recommend it, I mean there's really no reason not to and I think of the bunch MP1 is the hardest to go back to so might as well get it out of the way. The second is the best overall, and I think it cuts the fat so well that it's easy to pick up and replay whenever, but the atmosphere is top notch and it improves on the first in almost every way. A perfect sequel if there ever was one.

Gotta love it when your own team mates in CSGO kick you from a match on round 11 "in the name of fairness," after convincing themselves I was wallhacking from properly calling out stuff. Damn those boyscouts man.

Not.

I just played some more and it still hasn't grabbed me. Which is good! That's another game discarded from my backlog. Time to try some more until one clicks with me. I have too many games to get to; I'm not going to waste time with those that don't click with me. I got to another area and then another area and then it just struck me that I really just didn't care.

The primary gameplay mechanic was okay but nothing mind blowing. It was the sort of thing that would almost be a throwaway idea in a Nintendo game. The art design I didn't care for either. The uber nerdy keeping track of the finest details would have enthralled me as a child but not so much now. Overly pretentious? Yep.

I'll give it another go another time. It might click with me then, who knows? That's enough for now though. Next man game up!

I couldn't play Fez for more than an hour or two. The dimensional-change mechanic got repetitive quick, though to be fair, I couldn't play much of Super Paper Mario either.

That Gamefly code doesn't work when I try and check out with Metro: Last Light.

EDIT: Apparently the UK store uses a different coupon. Got it now. GFDDEC20UK

Fez's 3D change effect is incompatible with my eyes. When I changed perspectives, the world always looked like it was bending inwards rather than stretching outwards.

I liked the music in Fez, so I stopped playing the game after a couple hours and just bought the soundtrack.

I finished MP3 this weekend. I was not so fond of the actual gameplay - the last TPS I thouroughly enjoyed was Binary Domain.
But I liked the story and the the presentation. Yes it is all cinematic and stuff but the inner monologues we all loved back then are still here. The comics are just switched to normal cutscenes. Max is a different guy but we all changed in those ten years since the last game so why can't he?
What the game is missing more though is the presence of a good villain like Vladimir.

There are great villains in the game! They barely get any time on the screen, though, and when they are on they are typically not speaking in english (which makes sense, obviously, but it makes them less compelling characters).

Counteropinion: Max Payne 3 is the best third person action game released this gen (well, after Vanquish) and despite it's flaws (especially in the cutscenes being unskippable) is an incredibly satisfying shooter with some of the best gun porn, enemy reactions and action in a videogame. The details - the way Max uses/carries his guns, the way the guns are modelled/work, it just adds to the satisfaction. I always loved Max himself in it as well and found his character arc in 3 to be very satisfying. I consider it to be easily as good as the others. Love it.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
I define a game by a pretty objective metric. I follow a flow chart with the following points, with an affirmative answer asserting the thing in question is not a game:
1) Can the experience be almost entirely pirated by watching it on YouTube?
2) Did the thing come labeled as Borderlands 2?
3) Did the thing come labeled as Serious Sam?

This system has never failed me.

And if you understand portuguese, there's really funny details in the game. The voice acting is so ridiculous you are always laughing throughout the game. Definitely one of the most satisfying shooters this gen, even though it is a parody of Max Payne. There's no need to take the game so serious.

Also, this song in the Favela part got my attention right away.

I dunno how you can own over 500 games and feel like you've got nothing to play but here I am. Finally got bored of Civ V: BNW, uninstalled it. Can't complain since I've played it for like 800 hours. Haven't been able to get into Europa Universalis IV despite it being a more user-friendly grand startegy game. I feel like I'm playing a spreadsheet and not entirely sure if I'm doing anything right at all. In fact I know I'm not because my rank keeps dropping the further I get into a game, as Castille no less. Nothing I've purchased lately has really held my attention, I've just been alternating between Dota 2 and Torchlight II.

Man, I really wish that Humble and other bundle sites would start taking Brazillian credit cards someday. I feel like I'm missing out on some major stuff.

I just tried logging into Steam with my mac mini using chrome. The confirmation e-mail gives my correct ip, but it says that the request was sent from a city in my country that I have never visited. Should this worry me? Or maybe Steam is just using old information about where the ip is in use? Has anyone else encountered anything similar?

No, geoloc stuff is always a bit stupid.
It's usually the city where your ISP is based, so for me, it's always on the other side of the country.

When will Greenlight devs learn?

TL;DR = The dev says he only made $0.20 each Indie Royale sale so "hell no". Hate ensues. Dev finally says they'll look into it.

I have to feel bad for these developers.

Indie Royale is the site where you have to pay above the average as opposed to paying one dollar. Imagine how little developers make on sites like Humble Bundle or Groupees.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Steam's geo-ip information is based on your IP address and where your ISP's main pipe is. If it's even relatively close you're probably okay. A lot of US cell services are IP geo-located in Kansas, for example.

Just make sure it matches what it says on something like Speedtest.net and you're all set.

well with humble you can directly see how much the devs are getting. with indieroyale/groupees/etc, usually the games are so low profile the whole reason for them being in the bundle is to get people voting for them on greenlight, and in this case it worked, so i wouldn't feel too bad for them

they knew how much profit per sale they'd be getting when they made the promise to give keys....

Humble Bundle, and to a lesser extent Groupees, seem like they're a lot more high-profile than Indie Royale is, at least to me. I'd imagine that they make up in volume what they lose in per-unit sales through those sites.
