Civilization is remarkably good at draining time. It should be used on long space voyages; the astronauts would hardly even notice the trip.

I bought the game. Played one game to test the waters... and had 14 hours on the clock. Began one more map, 6 hours in...

Never touched it again.

AssCreed 3 has an 800 hour tutorial that you spend in zones the sizes of shoe boxes with a character that isn't even the main character.

Yet gamers whine about the first few hours of Twilight Princess :). It didn't bother me as I knew it would be a looooong game [it took me about 100 hours in my first playthrough but I took my sweet time about it].

The jokes that AssCreed 3's first several hours are just one big tutorial aren't far from the truth. Black Flag is better in this regard as while it still drip-feeds information, you're given leisure to explore and do your own thing almost from the off, so there isn't a sense that you're being artificially forced to abide by a guiding, overbearing hand.

I do not own AC3 and am not rushing to get it after all the complaints I've read in here about it :D. I do have AC2 though which I picked up with AC in the Summer Sale when they were uber cheap. AC I enjoyed until the end part so we'll see about AC2. After so many hours in AC I'm in no rush to start AC2 though. Fortunately I am not exactly lacking in options of games to play in my Steam Library.

If you grew disinterested with the original I think you'll find 2 to be a much better experience, at least if you don't overdose on secondary tasks. Renaissance Italy is still the best setting of the series, I'd say, and Kyd knocked the soundtrack out of the park.

Edit: But, yeah, I'd definitely leave it on the backburner for a little while. My interest in Borderlands 2 quickly waned because I made the mistake of smashing through the DLC of the original just prior to its release.

Thanks, I've been reading the conversation about this game off and on for the last few weeks and distinctly got the impression that the secondary tasks were not worth playing for what they bring the player but only for what fun they bring [or not]. I took that approach with AC so we'll see how I take to AC2 when I get to it. Right, back to Fortix!

Jesper Kyd's soundtracks to the Ezio trilogy really tied those games together. I probably would be way more interested in Black Flag if he came back. I'll still check it out at some point, I'm sure, but man that guy makes wonderful music.

On the bright side, Kyd being thrown to the wayside for AssCreed 3 gave us one of the best boss fight themes in recent years. Ubi definitely needs to get him back for at least one more game, though.

Having played the first 2 levels of F.E.A.R. 3 in co-op with a coworker last night, I have to admit it wasn't as bad as I always say the single player is. It's still a terrible F.E.A.R. game and a disgrace to the franchise, but at the same time it's a solid and competent FPS, and the gameplay mechanics of the two characters work pretty well with two players. Plus it was fun to chat on the mic while playing, laughing at my overheating graphics card and swearing whenever we died (yeah, I may not be the most mature adult out there).

It pains me to say it, but Stallion was right. The game is not only tolerable, but fun too in co-op. That's it, I said it. Now I don't wanna live anymore, not in a world where F.E.A.R. 3 (or F.3.A.R.) isn't the worst game in existence :(

I once tried Civ 5 and suddenly 12 hours gone. Be careful.
Yep, it's very easy to lose time in that game. I lost track while just playing the damn tutorial. Was pissed that you couldn't save the game. All that time lol

I knew it was that track. It defines Ezio's whole story and journey.

You should buy it asap just so you can play Trouble in Terrorist Town.

Thanks for the replies; I will be downloading RAGE in a few moments. It's been a while since I last played a shooter; I think the last one was Far Cry 2 over Summer.

The problem with Rage is that there isn't enough interesting shooting parts. I've spent more time going from one place to another while listening to uninteresting caricatures than exploring cool areas with things to violate.

I always see my friends playing it on Steam and I always think to myself I should buy it but I never do.
I would play it but it was my understanding that a lot of the models get pulled from source games you own, and I basically only have TF2, Portal, and Half-Life 2 Deathmatch. So loading it up to find a sparse amount of things baked in, or seeing missing asset stand-ins all over the place has kind of dampened my enthusiasm.

That and I got it so a friend and I could play together and that hasn't happened yet. :p

I thought it just downloaded all the assets before you loaded into the map. The only real source mod I've played was The Hidden: Source which would always download the map before starting.

It could do just that, and I'd quite like it, but I'd heard that you either get models from the ones people have uploaded or from source games in your library. i.e. Someone spawns Luis and you don't have L4D or whatever and you see purple checkerboard man/giant X/whatevertheheck.

If you just get to load stuff as it comes or something that would be awesome.

Most wanted worth the five? too bad it's origin

I found it to be surprisingly fun. I'd buy it for the PC if playing it on the PS3 twice, more or less back-to-back (I wasn't keen on the idea, but my mate was insistent and, really, we had nothing better to do at the time), didn't erode all desire to play it again.

Only have the Portal games and TF2 lol

I'd say so. Was a lot of fun ala Burnout Paradise and online was pretty fun with mates. PC version still has some performance issues with all the bells and whistles on. Avoid Supersampleing like the plague unless you're rocking a Titan and then you'll struggle for 60fps in tunnels.

ACIV is still on top of the sales chart?!

From what I understand (and correct me if I'm wrong, people that have played it), ACIV is basically just a pirate game that got slapped with the AC logo and doesn't have much to do with the asscrud "lore", which can only be a good thing.

I've only played it for about 2 hours but it definitely feels like an Assassin's Creed game.

I don't think any of the AC games have much to do with the AC lore.

It does in Havana, but that sort of stops once you get the hell out from there. It's still very much an AC game, but the pirate stuff does take the leading role.

Oh man, I'm totally wishing you good luck, but honestly I don't think anyone in his sane mind, would find pleasant to watch a Blighttown played by anyone, including himself. :D

Well the first time where you don't have a clue where to go, the dangers and surprises certain enemy's in there have and then all the other "quirks" really do make anyone curse that place but on my subsequent playthroughs it's a bit of a doddle now, framerate withstanding.
