I've spent $1700 in 115 games, but that's not taking into account that most of those games were purchased at 50-75% off...

Will Steamgifts ever be non-invite? I hate stuff where you have to be invited. I don't even have a single Steam friend!

has anyone actually checked the odd's of getting a game on steamgifts? last time I checked it was 1 in 500 for DIRT3

There was a giveaway for Skyrim, I think it had over 2000 entries!

I wouldn't get my hopes up tbh on winning something.

If I buy the Counter-Strike pack, will I get extra copies of the games I already have? Reading the extra copies support page tells me no, but would like to get a confirmation from someone who bought it.

So you guys are desperate to get on a site where you have a 1 in 500-2000 chance of getting a game for free?

Seems a bit pointless. More effort than it's worth.

Also, about 50% of the giveaways are for Humble Indie Bundles or Portal 1. I wish there was someway to filter the site for crap you already have.

So most games being given away are ones that have been given away free before or let you pay about 10p for.

I have more chance of getting a good game for free just by entering this thread.

think in the forums, there's a chrome extension to install a giveaway filter.

the only thing i won from that site was a Mafia II DLC

There are a couple of From Dusts on there, I wouldn't mind winning one, but it's not looking like something that attractive to me.
I'm sure there's a few good games on there, but like that other guy said, so many people enter those you're really unlikely to win.

Steam triggers a certain greed in people I feel. Not that you're a greedy fucker for joining that site, but it just seems a bit... odd. People go to huge lengths in an attempt to get a free game that is already super cheap.

I like free things as much as the next bloke but some people go to HUGE lengths to save just a bit of money when Steam is involved.

You have a better chance of getting a free game simply by being on my friends list.

Brb, gonna go purchase Stalliongifts.com

I'd join if I had lots of gifts to off load, but I don't have any.

EDIT: This is odd, that site says I have fifty games, Steam says I have fifty four.

Not really, in fact just the opposite. A lot of people (including me) spend/spent a lot on dozens or hundreds of games they will probably never play during Steam sales. Buying a lot of games that are % off is spending money, not saving, and Steam just seems to make most people want to collect as many games as possible. Smart people probably just buy the ones they're actually gonna play but I rarely see these people pop up in the thread.

Yeah, the people who mostly pop up in these threads are the ones who will kill a person for an extra 10% off ;)

I mean I've been gifted a few things from America when I've been short on cash, but it just irks me sometimes when I see people who call a 50-75% off product "not a good deal", etc etc. There are a lot of people like that when it comes to Steam!

Of games they will never play. Most people waste(d) a lot of money collecting to see the # of owned games rise. It can be addicting and I'm kinda guilty myself. I've never gotten anything free on Steam afaik but I have extra copies and retail keys of a few things. Now I have a wishlist of games I'm actually going to play and will only buy those (it took me a while to get this strong though).

Yeah the fact they never play them kinda makes it worse, haha. I think some people have an addiction when it comes to just buying cheap games.

I have a rather big backlog on Steam but that's just because I have all 3 consoles etc too. It's a matter of time rather than having games I don't want.

... for the most part, everyone in this thread is guilty of a few impulse buys on Steam. *shakes fist*

The only games I have and won't play are the bundled stuff I don't care about.

I wish I could have given that stuff away, I can see why they don't let you though.

I was tempted to buy Metro the other day, and Borderlands today, despite disliking both. I'm glad I resisted.

Most of the ones I will probably never play came in large packs during summer sales and such, where you get a ton of games for cheap (game publisher catalogs). Not sure of the point when I will never play most of them though, haha.

Yeah I have a fair few number of games I don't want that were part of bundles, gifted to me as jokes or something I/my girlfriend bought when it was dirt cheap and turned out to be utter shit.

I just have a specific category for them in Steam where they're all hidden, uninstalled.

Speaking of which, I will give any of the current daily/weekend deals to the first person to quote me and tell me what you want.
