They will probably be assholes and leave keys at $2.50

I would actually buy like 20 of them if they were on sale for $1

facts:

- Killing floor summer event starts tomorrow
- Swarm arena guy says the sales are coming "really soon"
- Only one midweek sale that ends tomorrow
- Lots of coded stuff added to the registry lately

i can feel it

And those Serious Sam tweets.

there is no sign whatsoever poting towards that, how is it pretty obvious?

last sale ended on July 4

Steam is a global service, they dont do anything for US specific holidays
Valve is a US company. I still assume it will be today, but there's no way of knowing and this speculation is getting silly.

Can we just all be patient? For a few days...

It's not going to happen.

Turns out the broadband providers in America, along with Gamestop, paid Valve not to do it.

You monster! How can you toy with our feeling like that and still sleep at night?!

Please be right Salsa, I can't take the disappointment. :)

My first Steam sale, I'm so excited.

I'm hoping for a return of the Telltale everything pack. I missed it a couple of years ago and now it would be an even better deal at $50.

Must have missed those. Care to share?

Don't have them around. It said something like "lot's of people will have the games this weekend", "and even more next Monday".

Looks like it's finally happening then. Or perhaps they are refering to everyone emptying their steam wallets in frustration over that there won't be a summer sale.

BASED GABE was last year's theme. what's this one? hold on to ya butts? wallet am cry?

honestly, it's been said, but steam hasn't been as good most of this year for deals as other DD sites've been, but they got a ton of love from me for those incredible indie packs last thanksgiving or so. really can't wait to see what they deliver this time, my only fear is that i sleep through the short sales (i think i read there was a valve complete one for like a few hours last time?).

I come here looking for thoughts on $3 Hydrophobia and see 10 pages of Steam sale speculation/hype. Oh, internet... never change.
There were alot of posts about hydrophobia when it was just on sale. Look a few pages back, general consensus is

-Eh, still crap/subpar.
-Might justify purchase with 3$ pricetag.
-Jiggly jiggly
-Versatile voice acting with alot of different accents. Coming from one person. And one character.

So I woke up this morning and found my wallet hiding in the corner of my room, with bruises all over it and some blood dripping down its side. I asked it what happened to it, but much to my dismay my wallet was silent. I figured someone had beat him up that night; surely these wounds were the cause of anger and frustration on the part of someone else.

I never considered the possibility. Later that night my wallet decided to confide in me after much thinking of his own.

"Loblaw," He said, "I...I didn't want to say anything...but these wounds...they're...they're self inflicted."

My eyes began to water and I placed my hand over the quivering leather money-holder. I knew that he had thoughts of doing such things to himself, and perhaps it was my fault for not confronting him about it. But now I had a chance to make things right, I had a chance to be the friend I should have been a long time ago.

"Wallet, tell me," I insisted, "Tell me why you did this to yourself!"

With tears in his flaps, my wallet looked up at me.

"Tomorrow is the end."

Yeah I sifted through page by page until I found it. AFTER I bought it, but I was already intrigued enough to spend $3 anyway and didn't read anything that made me really regret it.

I might be in trouble, though, because unpolished games really bother me and that was all I read.

If Trackmania comes up in the sale, is it worth biting on?

I loved Stunts, Hard Drivin', Stunt Car racer etc back in the day, so Trackmania's premise really appealed to me.

However, I played the Wii port and was a bit disappointed - it just seemed to be a series of very short runs (20 - 30 seconds) that you had to try and hit a time target on. I was hoping for long 2 - 3 minute per lap multiple lap courses and races against cars over the stunts. Do I need to look somewhere else?

Is it more of a race or time-trial based thing? I'll check it out this evening....
I haven't played it myself, but it looked quite fun judging from a recent GiantBomb quicklook. I think it's almost identical to the full game, but with a limited number of tracks. It seemed to focus on either getting low times or high scores.

Time trials, stunts, that sorta thing. It does tend to revolve around shaving seconds off a short run.

I can't recommend it enough though, the game is amazing. I'm going to hit the UK top 10 for stunts when I have a little time spare.

You could do a lot worse than downloading the free version and giving it a blast. You'll probably know within 10 minutes if it's your bag or not.

Time trials, but trust me, go online and prepare to have you mind blown. Almost every server uses hundreds of custom tracks which download in seconds, play them for 5 minutes, on to another custom track you've never played before and probably never will again.

I bet Nabs 1 Refined Metal in TF2 that the sale doesn't start today... just a friendly wager, lol.

If I lose, I can pay the Refined no problem, but then I win anyways because that would mean the sale started, lol.

Stop It

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.

My limit is 100 games. No more.

No less
I'll be expecting full receipts.

Anyway, £100 budget for Steam sale games, less around £2.25 for Hydrophobia, heh. I wonder if I can stick to it this time.

I can feel it more that it will be monday!

There's been a lot of stuff added to the registry with titles such as "JR8689 June 2011" over the last couple of days. There was the MumboJumbo Complete Pack which also has "June 2011" in its title, and the Killing Floor summer event which starts today.

I really can't see it being Monday. It'll be today, IMO.

It's pretty much whatever you want it to be. Short, long, multi-lapped, stunt, skill, etc. There are tons of tracks for whatever style suits you.

If you're looking for a racing game where you're swapping paint and moving up the racing grid, however, that's not what Trackmania is. Online is about competing against ghosts and setting the fastest lap time. Lap times are not cumulative. You can completely suck, set the best lap time on the final lap, and you're the podium winner. Single player is about lap times and ghosts too (although there are some endurance courses where you're ranked on your cumulative lap times).

I think it's slightly overpriced for 5USD. It would be a solid impulse buy for like 2.50 or less. I don't even know if the online is still active or even alive.

Just got off work. I am now completely ready for the sales. Bring it on.
I wish I could work early but I don't get home until 8pm today :/

I want to be there at the moment of impact, that's the exciting part!

Btw. do you guys pay with paypal or cc? I am a little bit afraid of using my CC after I had some issues with it a while ago but not on Steam. How is steam in terms of payment security?

They've been great for a while for me. I did only recently started using my Steam wallet and it feels good to have the funds directly available via Steam.

As some have said, if server traffic is too high or some other issue comes up with excessive spending, your CC may have issues. Having the funds there is a big piece of mind.

I worked 10 pm - 7 am today so I'm pretty beat. Problem is, I can't make myself go to sleep because I want to see the moment of impact as you do.
