Hydrophobia for £2.25, it worth picking up just to tide me over till the Sale actually starts?
See several pages back for various impressions. Lots of reviews and people didn't like it. I thought it was okay for a bargain bin price. There are some interesting elements at least. It's a 5GB download so it may or may not 'tide you over" if the sale starts in a few hours. :p

Ah cheers, will have a look back over then. It was the cheap price that was tempting me. But if its a 5GB Download it might be a case of adding it to the mountain of Steam games I will get round to playing eventually.

Guys, the midweek for quite some time has ended at 10PST. I wouldn't count on basing any hope on that.

Last weeks was 4pm PDT.

EDIT: "Both James Bond: Blood Stone and Quantum of Solace will be available at 66% off now through Thursday at 4pm Pacific Time."

At 1 PM this thread is going to be fun to watch one way or the other. I can't wait.

Really, I just want the Killing Floor and TF2 promotions to start.

do we have list of 'supposed' sales? want to know how many games i can buy for $100

No one knows. Generally speaking you get somewhere between 20% to 80% off of almost every game in the store, and big savings on publisher and indie bundles that might go for $40-$80 but contain an entire publisher's catalog. Depending on whether you're looking to go with a huge bundle or only focus on the specific games you want will really drive how many individual games you can get with $100.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, believe.

Already have it though caved in ages ago and paid full price.

I never thought I would share my specs with so many. I know this is just 1 forum but here alone I've seen more than a handful of folks with exactly the same spec. Minus the RAM of course as I went with GSKILL RAM (OC'd to PC10700 according to CPUZ).

It's a pretty solid setup. It's got the speed and strength and it doesn't come at a heavy price tag. It hits just the right spot oh so many times.

The sale better be today. Looking for Mafia 2, Cargo and Oblivion on the cheap.
You are looking for specific games? I just grab whatever looks nice and has a big number behind the percentage sign...

Depends on what you want to spend. Last holiday sale I got(not just from Steam though) Burnout Paradise, Mirrors Edge, Dead Space, GTAIV Complete, BC2 Vietnam and a couple of others for $25.

I have $40 for the summer sale, and that should get me plenty of games until the next sale. Remember a lot of this stuff will be on sale later on this year, so it's not necessary to go nuts.

Think about what you just said. You are buying a 3$ game to tide you over for the next two hours, so you can spend more money. Heh.

Why are you people using Steam wallet :/

It offers no benefit

1) Don't have to deal with Paypal
2) Don't have to have your CC rejected by Valve during the sale
3) Put in the amount you will spend so its more likely you won't go over
4) Its easy
5) Use a combination of credit card/checking account instead of having everything on one or the other

Yea, there are benefits

The main reason I'm doing it is so I don't have 23 tiny transactions on my credit card. It would really suck if TF2 went on sale for $15, 2-hour sale only, and my account was disabled due to fraud detection for days.

It does, it prevents Credit Card companies to block credit cards for too many small transactions, which in turn might get your Steam Account banned.

I don't get it myself. I just use my credit card and spend exactly what I need to spend.

Hmmm... Never experienced this.

I LOVE paypal. It charges my CC in my local currency, which means I don't have to pay the "international purchase" government tax. Never had a problem with the service. (I know of the horror stories, you people don't need to jump at my throat).

LovingSteam said:

My CC was never rejected on Valve because my bank is not fucking insane. It doesn't block me from making a purchase a day.

I don't have a limit! Living on the edge, baby!

LovingSteam said:

Adding an extra step to my schedule = not that easy. I guess not having to input the paypal password every time would be easier, but still.

You can directly send money to Steam Wallet using your checking account? It's probably a US only feature, but that's nice. Except you won't get any CC Points for doing that, so you can't trade those points for something useless next year...

Not for everybody there isn't.

Why am I so excited? I don't even want anything except maybe Cliffs of Dover. I know I'll end up blowing like $100 bucks somehow anyways. Damn it Steam!

Well I dunno you should talk to your banks perhaps. I've never had this issue with my credit card. Is it just US banks? I've never heard of anyone being rejected.

Allow me to retort.

1. Who said you are forced to use PayPal? I haven't used it in years. Not really a valid point.
2. Fair enough that is a concern I see a lot but as above couldn't you talk to your bank? It's your money and they seem to be telling you how to spend it.
3. What's the difference between having self control over your spending and putting another $50 on your Steam wallet? I don't buy this, but if it works for you fair enough
4. Easy? Sure I guess it's easy but not really easier.
5. You counter your own point, you have to use a combination to prevent money being left over 2 modes of payment is hardly easier than 1.

Back to your prophetic Steam sale ritual. I don't want to derail the thread. Steam wallet to me is only suitable for parents giving their kids an allowance. Or people who can't sort out their credit card woes.

What?

Fuck it! This trains got way too much steam to stop it now. We're going full steam, Scottie.

You don't pull that sale switch, Gabe, we're running your ass over.

Hype at t-minus 2 hours.

While its out in the U.K. I believe, don't expect a price drop on that one seeing as its not out in the U.S. yet. BTW, have you been keeping up with the official forums? Seems that the most recent patch has helped a lot.

I already planned a sale thread to advertise it more in case a sale comes around.

Yeah, $100 is enough to get you a couple newer big release games on sale, plus a bunch of cheap stuff. Stuff released in the last year and a half or so for $5-7 and smaller games like Magicka and Super Meat Boy for $3 or so(just examples).

haha, $100 is a lot actually. Can't imagine you would be disappointed with what you can get for that amount.

Aaah, so that's why it keeps happening to me.

Might have to use this Steam Wallet thingy then. I still remember some frantic calls to the bank during Quakecon last year. Can't risk that again.

also watch for mispricings

Last year some people got the Valve Complete pack for like 25 dollars (which is outrageous), even though it was suppose to be 50.

And Valve honors mispriced items, so no worries there.
