DR2 needs to get to $14.99 and I'll buy. Seemingly arbitrary, I know.

I think that's how much I paid during the Winter sale (maybe $16ish). It's a great game with a co-op partner.

I'm from Argentina and I can see Civ IV, V and all the DLC.

Pero no podemos ver Dead Rising 2 :<
(But we can't see Dead Rising 2 :<)

In fact today's deal is CivIV and CivIV Complete Pack only.
But yeah, I can see all Civ games no prob.

EDIT: DR2 hasn't got any local CoOp, right? Only online?

Some wonderful gaffer gifted me SSFIV AE, so you can bypass that restriction bullshit that way.

At least Germany has their priorities straight then. My country is so backwards about these things.

edit: oh damn, I am tempted by that Capcom sale. GFWL too. Hmm.

Does Deus Ex: GOTY still hold up today? Is it like a first-person shooter/Snatcher hybrid? Trying to decide if I want to get the Deus Ex 3: Augmented Edition that includes the original free.

The graphics are mostly terrible by today's standards, of course, but the gameplay is absolutely amazing. I made the mistake of approaching it like a standard shooter multiple times over the last few years, but I finally gave it a real chance a few days ago and it has completely sucked me in. There is so much awesome stuff in this game, it's kind of ridiculous. I've poured 18 hours into so far and it's been a very rewarding experience.

This is definitely one of those titles that everyone who loves video games really needs to play.

Outside of some time with civ 3 a decade ago, I have no experience with the series. I wouldn't be shorting myself in any significant way by going with civ 4 over 5, right?

I would say most dedicated players would consider 4 the better base game than 5. I haven't played 5 yet enough to know myself.

Do you just need to install Beyond the Sword to get all of the CIV 4 content?

I don't know about installing, since I installed everything. But as for playing, you only need to play BTS to get all the content.

Not really no, Civ 4 is a very meaty game with all the expansions, near perfect. Most would say it's a better game than 5 as well, but 5 sure does have a lot of neat ideas that can be developed more in the future. You can't really go wrong with either, but I personally think 4 is a better game, though they are quite different.

If you are a graphics whore you can install the DX10 mod and get a look at some neat effects here and there. It won't look much better but it certainly makes it more interesting to look at.

Anyone buy Jamestown? It looks like a decent bullet hell shmup from the videos.
I bought it and it's awesome! I'm not a hardcore shmup player, but I really love what I've played of Jamestown so far. I'm not very good at reviewing games, but I'll try and give you a rundown of some of the features.

There are 4 ships to choose from (one that you start with and 3 remaining ships that can be purchased in the shop with the in game currency). Each ship plays unique enough and you'll most likely find your favorite after trying them all out.

3 different control options available: mouse, keyboard, or 360 controller (I use the 360 controller and it seems to control very well. I haven't tried the other control schemes).

There are around 6 difficulty settings, I think. The two highest difficulties must be purchased from the in game store, I believe. As you beat a level in the game, you unlock the following one (example: you beat level 1 and then you unlock level 2). But in order to unlock level 4, you need to beat levels 1-3 on hard difficulty. Then in order to unlock level 5, you need to beat levels 1-4 on the next difficulty up (I think it's called Divine). Unlocking level 5 is as far as I got. But this is worth noting because it seems like you can't beat the entire game simply playing on Normal difficulty. While I die often enough, I haven't found the game too difficult or frustrating as a casual fan of shmups.

The bonus levels seem pretty cool so far. They have little objectives such as Survive for X seconds while avoiding a shit load of bullets, Score X amount of points in Y seconds, and fly through X amount of the rings in this section. Those are the only bonus levels I've done so far, but they seem challenging enough and there are more bonus levels to unlock, though I'm not sure how much they differ from the objectives that I listed.

I think Jamestown is definitely worth the price and I've found that unlocking extras from the in game store (all unlocked with in-game currency, not real money) as good motivation to keep playing. And I'm sure once everything is unlocked and I'm better, my focus can move on to getting higher scores, 5 starring each level, and trying to beat the game without dying.

I wanted DR2 until I found out about the time limits. That's just not how I play games.

Yes, I feel the same way. Time limits stresses me and completely ruins any enjoyment I have with the game whatsoever.

I didn't bother me since you can do pretty much whatever you want during that time, and you can always carry your lvl'd up Chuck over to the next playthrough so you're still making progress. I dunno, it worked for me and it was definitely one of my favorite games of last year. It's about time I replay the PC version but sadly my PS3 pad/MotionJoy doesn't work with it.

Thanks for the quick responses gentlemen. Been wanting to replay RE5 and might as well get double the achievements and try it on pc :)

I hated the time restraint, i wanted to build more combo weapons and explore. I feel like i didnt explore AT ALL. I was to worried about finishing and stuff. I mean i could have played through again, but i would be on the same time restrictions and running the same path over and over

Did they use the movie theme by Eno? If they did, have my babies.
I don't remember hearing it.
That should be moddable though?

Tom Chick had a nice write-up about it on his now defunct old blog. It was reposted here.

RE5 and DR2 are fuckin sweet in co-op, so long as the person you are playing with is a good co-op partner. I had some sick ones and we always had a baller time. If you are looking for a co-op experience it honestly doesn't get that much more fun. However, if you are playing singleplayer (forever alone), I'd prolly skip both.

Does the steam version of RE5 unlock the xbl achievements?
No, it's a separate entry so you can actually have 2000 RE5 points from the 360 and PC versions if you want to replay the game again and grind and shit.

You can do that in DR 2. You just have accept that you're not going also going to get the best ending.

I just bought the Civ IV complete pack, but all of the items in my library are showing up twice. Cause for concern?

Wait, looks like the rest are mac binaries. Kind of annoying I have to have everything duplicated like that.

Yeah just hide it under a seperate section. Make a section called "mac games" and add those to it and then minimize said section

One's the Mac version, the other's the Windows version. Known limitation!

True, but I guess it didn't bother me. I spent my first two playthroughs just exploring every nook and cranny of the mall/casino and then I did the S run with an upgraded Chuck afterwards. It wasn't difficult in any way to keep up with the case files but it's true that it doesn't leave much room for exploration, you just have to decide right away if you want to do them or not.

It's definitely something that splits people, though, but I personally wouldn't change a thing about it.

I normally hate having time limits but it never bothered me in the Dead Rising games because I play through them many times, plus they're just so damn fun.

Agreed. The structure of theDead Rising games are what make them unique and interesting. Can't help but feel like anyone complaining about time limits, or the save system from DR1, are kind of missing the point.

I really really hate time based games. However, no matter how punishing, I LOVED the first Dead Rising.

I totally want to play Dead Rising 2. However, I won't be playing it right away. So I guess i'll pass this sale again, as it was 20 bucks on last December as well, and hope for a price drop or better discount later this year.

I hope so!

Damn that sounds great, to have Tom Chick complimenting your implementation of espionage is a pretty huge deal. I'll be sure to look into it once I have some free time.

Well I gave in and bought Dead Rising 2. Now watch it be $10 or something during the Summer sale. Oh well, I can now get rid of my 360 version and be done with that system for good.

Don't worry about it dropping in price during the summer sale. Capcom are always incomptetent when pricing their games. 20$ is probably the lowest you will get in a long time.
