You can get it for for 40$ if you 2-pack with someone and skip getting that PS3 copy you will never touch anyways.Maxrunner said:Regarding Portal 2 is there any advantage of buying the pc version of the ps3 one? since the ps3 seems to include the pc/mac version?

Not alot of cash im guessing if alot of PC users go this route, not to mention there will be no PC version for second hand copies >.<Stumpokapow said:But Portal 2 PS3 on Amazon.com is $54 and comes with a $20 credit, so it'd be less than $40 total, you wouldn't have to 2-pack with anyone, and once the DRM for the Steamworks thing is sorted out you can almost certainly flip the PS3 copy for cash, further lowering the price.

Mistake? Betrayalton? Or are they going the Relic route?
Any official word on this yet?
Stallion Free said:Second hand PS3 copies are almost guaranteed to be severely gimped, allowing only single-player and split-screen, but no online functionality until you get a new Steam key.
Also, 20$ credit has to be spent on something else meaning you have to make further purchases.
Burekma said:I know that, it's the retail part that bothered me. Usually, only retail games that can be registered on Steam get such entries. And I was 99% sure it was a GFWL title, hence why I asked.
EDIT: And I completely forgot Relic are now Steamworks only, lol. What I meant by that was using Steam as DRM only. It is a possibility, right?

Lyphen said:Yeah, screw interesting indie games, gimme the quarterly Dawn of War or Total War sale again. Better yet, let's go back to putting Torchlight on sale every three weeks.
My personal favorite is dead multiplayer game though. Come on Shattered Horizon, you put out an update. Let's see another free weekend and discount.

I guess in my case, I'm so done with big budget PC ports like Bulletstorm (and Mass Effect 2) that I'm just having more fun with cheap indie games. Add to that my 'alt-tab ADHD' and smaller gaming experiences just work better for me. So I like seeing them on sale, even if they don't always catch my interest. I wouldn't really have known about Rush, Toki Tori, Trine, Defense Grid or Greed Corp if it weren't for their sales.Ickman3400 said:Either way I end up not purchasing things, either due to lack of interest or in your examples I probably have it already. I'd rather they put more interesting big budget games that don't see frequent sales up. I'd love to see a Bulletstorm sale since Amazon got one, but yeah...EA

Alright, i'll try this, thanks.1-D_FTW said:I think it should be as easy as just running the Steam .exe from the E drive. Go to the icon and run it.

I pay for a server with a 100Mb connection and I think it's so futuristic and so far removed from having in the reality of my own home. So yeah, I'm jelly.

Is there something hidden here? Like maybe the PC version that comes with the PS3 version is actually only an extended demo or something?
It seems like Valve is directly saying "Only buy the PS3 version." Which makes me a bit nervous that something is hidden in the fine print. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

And thank the Emperor, that Relic corrected that mistake.LocoMrPollock said:It's probably both. Like Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising.

chixdiggit said:To play the PC version you have to link your PSN account to your Steam account. Can we do this already? I want to be guaranteed to play Portal 2 on my PC on day one. Not enter a bunch of codes, download updates and hope it works.
LocoMrPollock said:It's like a trojan horse for Steam. Get console users to see how great the service is and before long they will get sucked into buying games they will never play
Dr. Zoidberg said:Except AFAIK there isn't going to be a Steam Store on the PS3. Unless I've missed something somewhere. (Maybe I have). It would seem that Valve has to make less profit on the PS3 version due to phyiscal cost and license fees to Sony, so there has to be some reason to make it so attractive.

Seeing as how Rockstar manhandled the recent release of Grand Theft Auto IV by embedding countless DRM procedures into the game, EA Games has decided that it will not make the same mistake and has instead opted to remove the SecuROM protection from the games that it will be releasing on Steam.

I don't know if this is the thread to ask but since they're both on steam, I'm in for a new MMO, Rift or DC Universe?
It's pretty terrible. It takes the unfun parts of Spore (the combat) and makes a whole game out of it, yet removes the only feature that made Spore worth the money (the editors).IrishNinja said:huh, might try darkspore. my connection was so shitty, lead & gold trial was over before i finished...what happens to that data on my drive, is it just sitting there or wha?
