It's a speedrunning game with a farcical fantasy anime RPG theme. There are a couple of different modes:

Hero 30: A demon lord is gonna destroy the world in 30 seconds. Run through monsters (literally) to gain levels and gold, then storm the castle and kill the bastard before time's up. In some levels there are towns where you can buy better equipment or healing items, talk to NPCs and/or pay off the Goddess to get extra time. Some levels have gimmicks like swamps that slow you down, damage tiles or even sidequests.

Princess 30: You're a princess in charge of like thirty guys who carry you around and can shoot in the four cardinal directions. Run out, get PHAT LEWT, then turn around and run back to the castle before 30 seconds is up. Enemies and some obstacles can kill your guys, which is bad because the fewer guys you have the slower you go and the crappier your firepower.

Evil Lord 30: Summon monsters to kill jerks who were mean to your girlfriend in the simplest RTS of all time. The direction you're facing determines the monsters' path. There's kind of a rock-paper-scissors aspect with the monster types and what they're strong against/weak to.

Knight 30: Bad guys are swarming you and a monk; you have to protect her for thirty seconds. You can't actually kill anything IIRC, but you can pick the monk up and put her in more defensible places. You can die an infinite number of times and the monk will resurrect you.

...It's been a long time since I played this game so I'm probably forgetting a few things or getting things wrong, but that's basically the gist of it.

You are describing the PSP version, not the XBLA/PC version. The XBLA version ignores* Princess 30, Evil Lord 30, and Knight 30, but adds new campaigns to Hero 30.

I have always used the controller for Ninja mode in Audiosurf, it was really nice (Dylan even had rumble support). Pad support for the menus is top-tier though.

Am I missing something?

(30… 29… 28…) The critically acclaimed Hypersonic RPG action game makes its debut on PC, leveled-up and enhanced to be the ultimate version. The most complete Half Minute Hero yet, it contains all the content and the features (21… 20… 19…) from the previous versions on handheld and console platforms, such as “Hero 300” - the challenging 300 second final chapter, (11… 10… 9…) as well as the exciting Knight 30, Hero 30, and Evil Lord 30 bonus game modes, restored to their full glory...

Steam must have auto-validated COD4 about 5 times now :| uninstalled it and re-downloading to see if it will work, other games seem to be fine.

Dustforce has controller support, you just have to manually set it.

I use this setup:

I posted this in the Steam thread but thought it might be useful to have here.

Recommended Xbox 360 controller button layout:

A: Jump/Confirm
B: Heavy Attack/Cancel
X: Dash
Y: Light Attack

Start: Quick Restart

Movement: Analog or D-Pad

This way you can use "A" to accept/confirm and "B" to cancel while navigating menus. Setting "Start" to quick restart will allow you to bring up the menu with the start button while in-game.

Mapping attack to "B" and "Y" allows you to easily press both buttons to initiate your AOE attack. Heavy attack on "B" keeps it close to jump so you can one-shot mid-air enemies for faster times.

"X" as Dash keeps it simple by mapping everything to the face buttons and it tends to work better since you will be tapping dash a lot to get good times.

The amount of double "i"s on the main GAF page is making my head hurt.

Anyways, I missed a deal on Crysis 2 didn't I? Was that over the weekend? Hopefully they'll have another sale on it for Fall or Winter sale.

Any word on whether the Steam version of Crysis 3 is going to have that 5 activation thing? Or Origin?

Same happened to me with TF2 a couple of hours ago after playing some Darksiders. Is this some kind of bug?

installed the game again and hitting the damn same problem, thinking of just moving it to a new drive or opting out of the beta.

BPM Beta really has broken a lot of things.

Secret Files 3 is now available, in case anyone other than me is interested.

Has crysis 3 confirmed coming to steam?

Crytek own the IP for Crysis but EA will have a deal to have it on Origin first and then have it on Steam later, with all the DLC, unless Crytek can intervene or cut a deal.

Okay, I figured it would be the same maximum edition thing. Just didn't know if they had said otherwise.

The latest Steam beta is jacked. You cant activate games at all. Hope there is a fix soon without having to uninstall.

Thanks, that setup works nicely

I discovered that my Times got much better after I had the insight to map the "up" to a button like R1, since you can just hold it while moving right and left and not needing to do a backflip with your d-pad

So I'm sitting here trying to decide if I want to start Bulletstorm. I haven't installed GFWL on my new computer and I'm having trouble deciding whether or not to do it.

Okay, so I noticed I wasn't getting any game updates in a long time on my Steam library.

Apparently, 99% of my games auto-swticed to "Do Not Update This Game," and the only way to fix that is to click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache." It seems like many of these games are now being converted to the new file format. But I have over a hundred games installed. How can I do this for all of my games without doing it ONE BY ONE?!

I am not a huge fan of FPS games but I started that game a week or two ago and enjoyed it quite alot. It is just crazy stuff all over. I have so many shooters in my backlog that I picked up on Steam during sales over the years and Bulletstorm was the most fun one so far.

Stalker games are next. Hearing good stuff about it and I played one a looooooong time ago but can't remember which one.

Yey. Somebody has joined my club. It really is annoying whatever this glitch is.

k so:

- Darksiders II was good. It wasnt that great and it was really disappointing in some ways, yet I had my share of fun with it.

It really shines sometimes and at the same time has the most infuriating piece of shit section that is just worthless and unbelievably boring to play. I know its just one part and you all know what im talking about but it seriously brought the whole game down to me. I just cant believe that they actually went and put that in.

- Quantum Conundrum was surprisingly great and much better than what I thought it would be (wich was basically portal but not nearly as clever). It's much more of a platformer and really enjoyed it because of that. Somewhat short considering the "puzzles" are pretty easy but im satisified with it. Will get the DLC on the cheap.

- Critter Crunch is fucking amazing and I love it. Played for about 10 hours now and it seems im still number 1 at the Adventure mode worldwide leaderboard, wuut. Love Capy.

- BPM is pretty much the best thing ever and ive been using it nonstop for the last 3 days playing all games from mah bed.

Bonerlands 2 pre-order (+ season pass thanks to JaseC) ready.

Of course, Neogaf is his life.

I actually had no clue. thanks mods

3 weeks till he's banned again. Tops.

hey now. To clarify (and ive been through this with dem mods) I wasnt port-begging. I know it's not allowed and i'd never do that really. I confused a thread and got in into what was basically a ban hotspot. You know when a thread gets hectic and shit goes down. There were two Rayman Legends threads at the moment and I thought I was posting in the one talking about its wiiU exclusivity and I wasnt, so my comment came off as really off-topic and unnecesary since no one was talking about that.

My bad.

I wish there was a demo for that Critter Crunch game. I watched the trailer, and all I got out of it was rainbow barfing and disgustingly cute Furby creatures with prehensile tongues.

Did you play Might and Magic Clash of Heroes? funnily enough it is quite similar in it's mechanics. It might seem like a match-3 type of game but it actually isnt. There's 3 basic (there's special ones later on) types of critters going from small to big and you have to feed them with the one before them (meaning, the ones who are 1 size smaller) in the food chain.

There's more mechanics involved that are more similar to the match-3 types of games and of course it gets more complicated than that but they make it work in interesting and differently enough ways. Best Puzzler in quite a while.

I see what you mean though, doesnt seem like a lot of people bought it :( was trying to get into an online match for quite a while yesterday.

I bought it cause what I played of the PS3 version at a friend's was great and because ive loved every Capy game so far, but I guess it's hard to convey what makes it so fun and addicting through screens and promo material.

I have no intentions of playing Darksiders 2 (finished Darksiders 1 but not interested ebough in 2 to buy it) but comments like these always make me curious. What was it? Just put it in spoilers.

Did you play the first one? edit: derp reading comprehension

basically there's a whole "turret-like" section on the first game where you carry a gun for a while and it basically becomes this very boring and bad shooter type of thing. Everyone was vocal about how that part was awful and they decided to put it back in on 2 but make it way, way longer. Awful.

not really a spoiler since you better go into it with lower expectations

Yeah I have M&M:CoH (actually it was gifted to me by a GAF'er -- Iblis). I put about 10 hours into it and liked it overall, but it felt a bit samey and repetitive about mid-way into the second campaign.

it's only kinda comparable on how some of the puzzle mechanics work, but I enjoyed Critter Crunch more. I think there's a demo on PS3 so im sure they'll put one up on Steam soon (I hope).
