I thin Gamestop have a deal with Steam, not sure why it should affect other regions, although some game stores tend to be really stubborn towards Steam, so any chance of a deal to sell cards is out of the question.

I've never seen Steam gift cards at Best Buy, and I heard that it's an exclusive deal between GS and Valve. Maybe he's talking about prepaid gift cards.

Just saw them today. I was in Bestbuy trying to do the Toys r us matching sales trick. (Nearly had Diablo 3 digital version for $9.99 but the manager didn't approve it.) I saw Steam cards in $20, $50, and $100 iterations. I guess it's not in every city yet. This was in Maryland.

Probably a receipt because my local Gamestop has the same cards on display in $20 and $50 dollar iterations, yet they give you the code on your receipt. I haven't been in a Bestbuy in so long that I didn't find it strange to see steam cards. I suspect it's only a matter of time before grocery stores and the local 7-11 starts carrying them.

You can buy gift cards with a Best Buy gift card. I do it all the time to convert them into Amazon monies

Welcome to the family, hahaha. The first few sales will be expensive as you build up your library, but once you get to the point where you don't really need anything anymore, it gets much easier!

I wouldn't really classify it for a mech game but it's a nice strategic extension of typical dual joystick shooters, helps if you've got a gamepad. Interesting its going to be free to play, you can probably get enough enjoyment just playing against the cpu in a match or two on and off.
